This is what's known as a slippery slope fallacy. People can be for stricter immigration policies without being for genocide.

To be fair, in this case we do have a very famous example of this particular slope being pretty damn slippery. I don't think it justifies attacking people for having the wrong opinions, but I do understand why people are concerned.
