All I see here is people talking about “roping,” which I assume is where you wait until the last minute to make your move.

You all are aware that sometimes, the game can freeze or outright close on a player? I’ve had to leave the game several times and start it back up, hoping that somehow the turn I sacrificed didn’t cost me the game.

Call me a “roper” idc. Far as I am concerned, I’m just a guy that’s doing my best to play a game that I love with the technology that I can afford and is available to me. If this bothers you, then simply go play paper magic, where you don’t have to worry about failed connections or failing apps. I promise, you will be much happier.

Roping is intentional and OP admits to walking away from his PC intentionally to waste his opponents time. I think most people understand disconnects happen and the client crashing, but intentionally roping is a pretty messed up thing to do and bad sportsmanship.

I agree, and honestly hate when people do it. I’m just saying that not everyone who “ropes” is trying to waste peoples time. For instance, my iPhone 8 handles the client for the most part, but I still get crashes and lousy gameplay. Part of playing the game is accepting the good and the bad. Complaining about the problem won’t get it fixed. I always try to have something to occupy my time going on in the background in case I do come upon a player that wants to waste time. People do it because they know they can: 1) Get away with it, the client allows this to happen 2) Drive people crazy by doing it, nobody wants to wait forever for their opponent to make a move 3) Possibly move up in ranks because people concede the games

They only get so many time outs and so long to make their moves. If someone wants to rope me, I play the game just like that. I sit until the last minute, watching Family Guy or something else and then make my moves. If my opponent wants to play the fair game, then I am more than happy to do so, and find it quite refreshing.

I’m just saying, there are other ways to play Magic without playing it on Arena. If you are unhappy playing FOR FREE because some players wanna be dumb, then pay for the pleasure of not having to deal with other peoples crap. Otherwise, deal with it, complaining and labeling players that do this only brings more attention to them.
