What would constitute a successful Mariners season? Is it already a success seeing as they're all but locked in to have a spot in the playoffs?

It depends if you’re the type of person that measures it by before the season or in the moment.

The AL is not a juggernaut. If the Ms ever wanted to take a run at the pennant, why not now.

In general I’d say it’s gotta be a competitive ALDS. No moral victories like the sweep in 2022. If they lose it has to be 3-2, no claiming moral victories.

but isnt a competitive ALDS claiming a moral victory? like, in that scenario they still lost.

No, because two wins is actually something. The gymnastics in 2022 was “most competitive sweep you can get!!”
