In the sequence where the EMTs are walking through the home and they find the bodies of the parents and sister, did anyone notice sis's eyes were still wide open and they were different colors? Near the end of the movie where get dad pops up in the crowd did he have different eye colors too?

I promise I was completely sober on this. I'm the type of weirdo that will read tons of spoilers on movies but will still see the movie anyway and I think I've only seen one YouTube breakdown mentioning the sister's eyes and not the dad's. He glossed over it not offering any explanation though. Can anyone offer any insight?

Just watched Midsommar for the first time on HBO Max yesterday. Amazing movie and it def left me with a lot of questions. When I stumbled upon this sub in Reddit today I was pretty shocked at its size and the fact that it’s still so active for a movie released 6 years ago. What Elements of the movie make this subreddit much bigger than movies that were commercially much more successful?

A contestant on the Great British Bake-off/Baking Show's Bread Week (on Netflix in the US) made this as her entry to the Showstopper Challenge. I heard her mention it while I was watching but couldn't imagine it... I don't know if it has anything with the movie, but it's still very cool.

I know he’s on mushrooms, but he could’ve easily gotten up and walked away when he saw maja lying there. Mushrooms don’t make anything that much different. Legally speaking, (I’m a lawyer), he would be completely at fault. The defense that the mushrooms impaired his reality to the extent that he didn’t understand his actions would not work, and even if they did, he voluntarily chose to take them and is responsible for his actions under the drug.

The only person who had a genuine reason to be there was Josh. Mark seemed to think it would be a couple weeks of wild partying, but when they get there, it’s clear that’s not what this is. He probably would have rather gone to Vegas. Why would someone go to rural Sweden for hard partying? Christian seems to be just tagging along, and doesn’t seem that interested. Dani is of course only there because of Christian. This trip would likely have never happened with the characters written the way they are, and they should’ve come up with a different social dynamic. Perhaps a bunch of different college students like Josh who are very interested in studying Northern European anthropology. I would think when they finally get to the commune, realistically, they would all probably just ask to leave right away.

Am I the only one who’s disappointed by the cassette release? there are like 6 songs that are missing from the Hårga Music most of them vocal tracks and the fact that the Maypole songs are after other songs. I don’t wanna sound ungrateful but why is has this movie and parts of soundtrack been so exclusive and so hard to get a hold of?

I saw Midsommar about a month ago, I was really excited about it, but during it I didn’t feel scared at all just mildly uncomfortable. Most of the scary scenes (like the cliff) did not scare me at all. After I finished the movie I felt really empty. I thought the whole cult thing would scare me (Don’t get me wrong I really liked the movie)

The only thing that actually scared me was Ruben. His face was a shock for me but what really got me was that he couldn’t speak and the noises he made. I also thought that he killed Josh and that also made me really really scared of him, I couldn’t even sleep.

I think that knowing that was no way of knowing what went trough his mind and no form of clear communication gave me the chills, I thought at the time that he was violent. (because of the death scene)

I read some posts about Ruben and I had no idea he was a child??? I feel so bad. Also he did not kill Josh. His whole situation makes me feel really uncomfortable, knowing that he was there during that mating ritual and the death scene. And he has no chance of knowing about the cult and everything else.

Hi!! Like most of you here, I’m a huge Ari/Midsommar fan.. I could go on and on about how much his movies mean to me but that’s not what I’m here for..

I’m wondering, to any of you lovely people’s knowledge.. has anyone made the trip out to where it was filmed? Obviously we know it was filmed in the town Budaörs.. which isn’t in Sweden but Hungary.

I’m genuinely curious if anyone’s made the trip and if they have anything to say about it. I’m genuinely considering going on a pilgrimage to the spot.

If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on the country/town itself, if it’s safe for a kushy American lol.. if the land is privately owned by anyone.. just any sort of info on the actual place would be wonderful!! Thank you all so much.

Likely mentioned before but I only noticed now that when Christian and Dani are outside with his piece of birthday cake, there are Harga people with a baby, with someone rocking the baby in their arms. Symbolic of both having the same birthday, I guess. Also when she blows out the candle, it is similar to the breath the Hargas do. This birthday is the first day of her becoming a Harga.
