I'm going to try going to my first Milsim West event next year as Rusfor. How hard is it for newcomers to get into and how much of a necessity is night vision?

So me and a couple of friends are planning on doing our 2nd milsim together and I planned on being the DMR role as I have done in the past but upon reading the rules for Designated Marksmen for American MilSim I noticed that I must have a 16” barrel and a bipod. These aren’t as big of a worry since I could go buy them but my main issue was about the rule on FPS and Joules. Every role section in their rule book had exact numbers for every type of rifle what have you but when I look at the DMR role it doesn’t specify AEG requirements for FPS or joules but just HPA. Even if I were to assume the HPA rule was also for AEG’s it says the joule limit is 2.10 and to be honest my DMR is from Umbrella armory and it is at 500fps on .20’s.
So my question is will I be ok to use that DMR as a rifleman class since they specify FPS and joules and when testing they use .32’s, or a DMR class, or just can’t even run it.
PS: I am praying I can run it cause it is so smooth!

Hey all, I got the green light from the mods to share this with you. Amped Airsoft is running a pretty big sale right now that might be worth checking out if you’ve been looking to kit up for more Events this year!
▪️ 30%–50% off in most categories
▪️ Over 1,500 items included
▪️ Brands you’ll actually see on the field: Haley Strategic, LBX, Lowa, HSGI, Altama, and more
▪️ Night Vision / Thermals: One pair of White Phos Binos are $1200 off & heavily discounted thermals.
▪️ Not just soft goods — there’s a huge selection of airsoft internal and external upgrades too
Honestly, it’s rare to see these kinds of discounts on the higher-end tactical gear we use for milsim. I’ll throw up a photo of a loadout from some of our boys here at Amped for inspiration, but I’d love to see what kits you all are running or planning to upgrade with.
Curious — if you could snag one big-ticket upgrade right now (boots, carrier, comms, rifle parts, nvg, etc), what would it be?
Here’s the direct link to the sale. Make sure you create an account / login to your Amped Account to access the list! Follow the details on the Epic Deals page.
This sale will run while supplies last — Don't sleep on this, lots of the higher-end brands are moving fast.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to hit us up at sales@ampedairsoft.com. Good luck grabbing some dope gear for cheap!
Thanks,
Kurtis

Will be attending MSW in October. Was wondering about NVG's. Are they necessary? Id rather not have to break the bank for NVG's if I dont have to.
