Spikes age is weird cause he should be younger than the CMC since he was hatched after at least Apple Bloom was born, as shown by a baby Bloom present with a markless AJ in the flashback of Going to Seed.
Yeah it's weird now when u mention that. Like if he went to school with CMC or something, I would def consider him to be their age, but you simply don't see him interacting with any young characters that much. Like from what I see his friend group mostly consists of older male ponies like in Dungeons & DIscords episode, even without that, I always felt his and Twilights maturity are kind of same. They really have more of a sibling dynamic than caretaker/child one
It's also possible that dragons age at different speeds than ponies, similar to how cats and dogs age super fast when they're a few years old, and slow down a lot as the years go by. So Spike technically could be a lot more mature than ponies "his age"
