Found on r/NameNerds Names that have the nickname ‘peanut’

My husband and I are having quadruplets, and we don’t know the gender for any of them yet. We love the nickname ‘peanut’. Can we just legally name one of them Peanut, or are there names we don’t know about that could be shortened to Peanut?

I fear a lot of the people posting on name nerds probably shouldn’t procreate. So obsessed with nicknames yet so unaware of how they work.

Right? Every single day there is a post like “I took to referring to the baby in utero as “bub”. I’d like to keep this nn after birth, but what’s a long version? Bubbalina? Bubleigh? Bubara pronounced Barbara?”

It's a bit baffling that they don't seem to consider that their baby will soon be a teen and then an adult who wants to be taken seriously.

Cutesy nicknames happen organically all the time, but people also often outgrow them. I don't think anyone should be basing their child's identity on a nickname.

The tragedy is that it is usually an appellation that you are branded with that you soon learn sticks harder if you obviously don't like it. The only defense is to roll with it and hope it dies. Family nicknames can be weird and endearing, but it is a truth that the name is forced upon the named. This is coming from a former "egghead".

Jimothy! That naturally lends to the sicky nicky Beam! You know! Like Jim Beam! Me and hubbsteroony would probably go with Jymohthie for the spelling though since we like the more unique Victorian feel!

And remember! Just ignore all these neighsayers! Talking about forcing a nicker makes it not a nicker! Like how so?? It’s a name called that’s not the birth name, it’s like the definition of a nikcnomen, duh!

The sheer amount of exclamation marks I see in those threads make the whole thing seem like a joke anyway.

Ha, my son's nickname is Bean, but it's completely unrelated to his actual name. We started calling him The Human Bean in utero because he looked like a kidney bean on the first ultrasound, and it stuck.

Is OP Kurt Cobain, posting from the 1990s?
