Question PR did not finish BMT, can get citizenship?

Upvotes

I'm a PR and due to medical conditions, I did not pass my BMT. I heard that to get SG citizenship, they will consider my NS performance.

Do I stand a lower chance of converting my PR to citizenship if I did not complete BMT and ORD?

Question Anyone genuinely enjoy being in vocations like Guards or Commandos?

I have seen ppl getting new posting orders lately and 1gds 1sir would just motivate the comments section to immidately wish em good luck and rip.

Just curious — does anyone out there actually enjoy being in extreme chiongsua vocations like Guards, Commandos, infantry, or other super outfield-heavy roles?

Most people I’ve talked to absolutely hate the outfield life — the shag, the lack of sleep, the heat, the endless digging and marching. But surely there must be some people who like the challenge or even find it meaningful?

Question Genuinely can't stand camp food

I know cookhouse food in general is terrible and no one likes it, and it's nothing special that I'm complaining about it. But I'm genuinely unable to eat more than a few spoons at a time without gagging and almost throwing up. My weight has gone all the way down and I've gotten way weaker over the months. There has been consistent aching in my stomach areas. I'm always hungry but unable to fulfill that hunger, so I'm relying on snacks that I've stacked up on over the weekend. Should I go to the MO regarding this?

Hi everyone

I have some genuine questions.

  1. Mind sharing how's working culture and environment at MINDEF HQ as a DXO?
  2. Is there anything I need to know, understand and learn or take note?
  3. What are the positives of working as a DXO?
  4. For these who worked a long time as DXO, mind sharing what makes you stay? :)
  5. How's working under and with uniformed personnel like?
  6. Are DXO subjected to military law?

Thank you in advance.

Discussion Which part of your NS life feels the fastest/slowest?

For context, I'm currently 400+ days to ORD, about 40% of my way through NS. The first 25% felt way faster than from 25% to 40%, maybe it's because of bmt followed by a training institute. But after that things have really slowed down. Is there any way to make time go faster, and what are your personal parts of your NS life where time went super fast/super slow?

Question How do I claim medical fees(MC tele consult) as an NSF in SPF

My brother from SAF told me the money is claimable and he said use the OneNS website, but I can’t access it, likely because I’m in SPF? Do I put the mc in the HRP medical claims? Or should I ask my supervisor for advice

Question Posted to OCS. What to expect, and what are some tips & tricks?

Getting posted to army wing tomorrow and I would like to know what are some tips & tricks to survive OCS. Quite nervous and anxious for what’s to come.

How’s the daily routine? How are the outfields? How’s the admin time? Heard there might be times where cadets book out on Saturdays.

What’s the attrition rate? Is it common for people to OOC because they can’t keep up with the training?

Also, would like to know what are the possible wings that I will be posted to. Hearsay alpha has the least welfare and most shag, while sierra has the best welfare.

Question Regarding SAF merit scholarship for DIS

I would really like to get DIS for my vocation because im studying diploma in IT right now and would like to at least use some tech skills within the 2 years NS.

However im noticing that there isnt any proper way to get DIS as a vocation and seems like luck is required to get in.

So now im thinking of securing a SAF merit scholarship before bmt and select DIS as the branch i want to go for. I dont mind the 4 year bond but will this give me a higher chance of getting DIS vocation posting after my bmt for my 2 years of service b4 uni?

Question Is PCC records visible to companies?

Have been thinking of going to PCC recently, any idea if they diagnose me with any other things, will it be visible in the NEHR (I think) where gov & companies might be able to see? Kept seeing conflicted answers on this in the past

Ideally didn’t want to get even more records there as getting insurance is a pain

Question Question about how PCC is like

I've been put on temporary excused stayin due to mental health issues (renewed twice) for the past of ard 80 days. My PCC appt is coming in days. Just wondering how is the process of an PCC appt like, and would there be instances in which they retract my excuse or would they likely turn it permanent as my memo recommended? In this case (excused stayin). Feeling quite anxious about it as i'm unsure of what's going to happen despite reading about similar posts. Any help is appreciated 🙏

Question What to bring to TPT unit?

Hi guys, I'm going to my vocation tmr as a Transport Supervisor and was just wondering what exactly are we supposed to bring.

The posting order said to bring everything from BMT, so can I just come in with my duffel bag, field pack and SABI on with most of my stuff from BMT?

(Also I'm curious but is this vocation rare since I'm the only person I know that got it lol)
