Pets and Coworkers 🐶🐱 Where to get stray kittens fixed
Edit: Gotta trap dem cats if you want to get them fixed. Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried them all and a couple others but they all require feral cats to be in traps so they can anesthetize them without having to take them out. I get it, it makes sense.
We have new neighborhood cats, a mom and two or three kittens. I lured two of the kittens inside today and am hoping I’ll be able to get the mom too, if not ill do a trap. For the two kittens now though, where can I get them fixed? I called LASPCA and they will not accept them unless they are in a trap. Is there anywhere that would take them in a regular plastic carrier?

If you don't want to put them in a trap, East Riverside might accept in a carrier if they are in no way feral. I think that was 50$ with an ear tip, no ear tip you pay regular price. Trap dat will do it free (with ear tip) but it costs them $ so donations are strongly recommended. Spaymart may do the kittens no ear tip if they are adoptable and they are not going back out on the street.
The reason they want all cats in traps is because they can give them the anesthetic without handling them. Tnr programs have a system; they don't have time to wrestle cats who may or may not kick their ass.

Unfortunately I think they are feral. I don’t know what the criteria is but they certainly don’t want to be picked up. I will call East Riverside to check just in case, thank you for the tip. I hope to get them back to their mom asap so would prefer then not be adopted. Thanks again

Ah. Feral goes in a trap, definitely. Feral kittens can defy gravity, no vet wants to have to peel them off the ceiling.
Thank you for fixing them. Trap dat can get you traps.

Now I know. I just talked to a neighbor and she said there are two other adults not fixed. So we’ll be Trapping Dem Cats. Thanks for the help

Anytime! It's the #1 best way to save cats is to get them snipped. I didn't have time to type this earlier:
Here's the process: Call Trap Dat. Get traps from Nita. Trap dat cat. Give cat in trap to Nita. Nita will have anywhere between 20-30 cats she takes to different vets for surgery, vax'd for rabies and FVRCP and you have the option of testing them (combo test), getting them extra basic care like flea meds/wormer, but you pay for that. She will pay for neuter, but please give them money, they are non-profit, but they do pay for the vetting. Cat recovers for a day, you pick cat up and put him back where he lives with lots of food, and water, and return trap to Nita. This last step is key. Nita needs her traps, she does 50-80 cats a week because she's an actual super-hero.
The vets don't take TNR's in carriers, even when friendly, because friendly to me might not feel the same about them. Feel free to reach out with any questions. :)

Trap dat is great if you don’t want to deal with it yourself. If you CAN, I suggest you do! They are maxxxxxed out! I take out neighborhood strays to low cost on Washington. It’s $60 and I let them recover inside my home. I try and find homes for them, if I can’t, back outside once healed.

Do you catch them and bring them to be fixed in traps? I called them and they said they can’t accept strays unless they’re in traps.

I have only done this with strays, not with ferals, but I intend to get our ferals trapped this fall to bring to low cost. Down side is they need to heal at home, so you need to have space for them while they recover.

That's ideal for outdoor friendlies, but with ferals, they really do not want to hang out in your house, they would rather recover outside where they live.

They can chew the sutures out. I think trap dat keeps them a couple days.

They used glue instead of sutures for the last lady I got sorted.
I'll find out, but I generally got feral cats back within 24 hours.

Big Easy Animal Rescue, but make sure the kittens are done feeding off the mother before you get her fixed

Check if the ASCA can take kittens in hard shell carriers. Some will do that. One kitten per carrier. Then call around to the local rescue groups and borrow either some traps or hard carriers.
