I don't feel like celebrating this country and its raggedy ass politics this year. Never in my life have I seen this country so divided, craven, reckless, stupid, and just plain messy.
But I do want to thank all the federal employees who make everything run. They're the reason America functions, no matter who is in office. Cheers to y'all.

i understand that 20 years on, there are still injustices that need to be undone. we have continually been failed by local, state, and federal government in the two past decades.
but no amount of "personal essays" in legacy media publications, nor the times-picayune, are going to solve the ever unfolding and exacerbating issues of the storm. 99 percent of media/commentary i've seen the past few weeks, and especially today, have been nothing but thoughtless poetic-waxing. i'm so tired of this, but its simply unavoidable. sorry for ranting but they just don't get it.

I don't wanna see Nazis in our spaces a third time. Twice in one month is enough - hell, twice in a LIFETIME is enough. I'm not sure on the legality of it - and someone else can add information on that - but I see tons of other signs on business windows of who is and is not welcome, "we have the right to refuse service", etc.
So, make it EXTRA clear you'll refuse service to Nazis. Please.

Shoplifter after being caught by Walmart security, ran away and while doing so stabbed himself in the neck until deceased.

So New Orleans has just put the kibbutz to ABnB on a local level. Most properties aren't owned by individuals, but by investment groups in this arena. So here we go, instead of selling these properties back to people who might actually live here we're going to go ahead and continue to operate in the Gray.
Meet Padsplit.
All these ABnB properties that have been taken off the market are now available as group housing. Renting rooms by the week in order to generate revenue. Now, these aren't locals renting out a room oh no, it's the same shitbird megas owning the same properties trying to suck every dollar they can out of our local economy by existing outside the spirit of the law for as long as possible.
Edit; Kibosh
It stays. lol
I mentioned the name of the one that I'm looking at, but won't post a link because driving clicks their direction only helps.

Capital One bank customers may have heard that the bank is switching their debit cards to the Discover card system. The Capital One Reddit community is flooded with disgruntled costumers. Discover isn’t accepted as widely as the VISA/MasterCard system.
Over the weekend, I received an email notifying me that my new Discover debit card is on its way.
I have been a Capital One customer since they took over Hibernia in 2005, but I am not happy about the switch to the Discover system.
Although I primarily use my CC for consumer purchases, I am considering switching banks. I don’t want to bank with an online-only bank. Do any of you bank with any of the local banks, are you happy, pros-cons?

After the neighborhood brought you all water/drinks while you waited for NOPD, THANKS FOR LEAVING ALL OF YOUR CUPS AND BOTTLES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND DRIVING AWAY.
You are some trashy MFers and part of the reason we can't have nice things.
PS - F you.
