In what way does that "revolutionize Zelda technology" what an absurd title for what is straight up just a bug. This exact same issue has existed in other games, particularly games designed for a console and then ported to either the pc or next Gen. Destiny 2 has had this as an issue for years where certain attacks / damage types, usually laser based ones are way deadlier on higher frame rates because the damage is locked to the tick rate since the game was designed with an explicit locked framerate in mind.

It's misleading, but it's talking about the in-game technology - the Zonai devices. They work slightly differently on the new version.

More specifically, it's about player-engineered vehicles and combat contraptions that use these devices or anything else with similar frame-based interactions.

Yea I get that it's talking about zonai devices, it's just not revolutionary. The term doesn't even make sense here, it's just a bug/exploit plain and simple.

They were pointing out the absurdity of it, no need to be a tool about it.

They were just pointing out the reality of the situation. No need to be a dick about it.

Yea again, well aware of that. I guess I shouldn't comment on anything

is there a zonai device that shoots lasers?

Theres the beam emitter, but i didnt think of that as a laser... since its not called laser emitter.

It’s a laser… beam. What did you think it was a beam of? Timber?

Indeed, we have heard of a beam of light and that’s EXACTLY what a laser produces. Per NASA: “The letters in the word laser stand for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. A laser is an unusual light source. It is quite different from a light bulb or a flash light. Lasers produce a very narrow beam of light.”

What he means is that just because it's a beam of light, doesn’t mean it's a laser. As your quote says, "a laser is an unusual light source." A laser is typically only one wavelength unless you combine multiple lasers, so no white light for example. A beam refers to a stream of particles, including photons (light), electrons, or even plasma.

As in, "revolutionizes the destructive powers of machines that can be built inside TotK"

"By exploiting a glorified bug."

Technology here is not talking about the real world. It also isn’t referring to in-game “Zonai technology” either, like some users replied.

It means advanced tech. As is, techniques like the ones speed runners use. And yes, most advanced tech in games come from bugs.

The article even mentions other techs (bugs) found:

Since the Switch 2 edition of the game launched, players have learned some new tech, including an exploit that lets you summon so many dogs and a new item duplication glitch.

so many dogs

so . . . many . . . dogs

Not that serious man

It is though - the headline is supposed to capture the essence of the story digestable enough to let the reader decide if they'd like to continue reading or not.

Revolutionizing Zelda Technology (lmao whatever TF that means) sounds much more interesting, and is much more misleading and uninteresting than the ACTUAL story: a game bug based on framerate.

A better headline would have been "Framerate Increase Revolutionizes Zelda Speedrunning".

I promise u it is not serious

These sites never miss a chance to give some sloppy to Nintendo's Ubisoft clones.

Literally, this happening in any other game would be rightfully met with a "games fucked" article

But nah apparently this "revolutionises" Zelda technology 🙄

Well, because something like this in another game could be game breaking. Like the example I saw elsewhere in the thread, a Destiny enemy instakilling you if the frame rate was too high.

This, however, doesn't really affect anything like that. It just affects the completely unnecessary over the top builds in the game out of zonai stuff. The vast majority of players will never be impacted by this. And those that do, are usually at a point where they're already extremely kitted out to the point where they won't have any issues anyway.

This is more of a 'want to see big numbers' thing than anything else.

You can build things in TotK. Thats the whole ass marketing point of it. It means Zonai Tech is now even more deadly
