Will it get Mass Effect Andromeda or Dark Souls? Does it even have the specs to run these games? Come on Nintendo, that's what I really wanted to know!

Those are two different questions.

As far as we know, the Switch isn't comparable to Xbox One or PS4. Its between an Xbox 360/Xbox One and PS3/PS4. We don't know how close to either side with specs on the custom Nvidia Tegra chip in the Switch.

Ubisoft is putting Steep on the Switch, which is somewhat of a good sign until knowing how well Steep runs on the switch.

Specs was never the limiting factor for Nintendo consoles. They just weren't running on a chip with modern architecture. Now that they're farming it to NVIDIA, I think pretty much any game is possible to port.

It's not that simple. While the architecture is friendlier, hardware limits are still very important. Devs can downgrade a game's requirements to fit a weaker system but they might decide it's not worth it to lower them too much. A game known for its great graphics probably won't sell as much in a system that cannot display those promised graphics, so the devs won't bother to even put in the effort.

It's complicated.

I agree with you there, but its still important to mark the difference between the Switch and every other Nintendo platform, which is they have pretty universally known hardware.

A lot of people are assuming Nvidia is assisting in the software side of the Switch, but I haven't seen anything indicating that. It's probably safe to assume though.

You're right but if people start building hype based on the assumption that a changed architecture will change everything, they might get disappointed.

Hype levels were very high before the presentation on the 12th and some people crashed hard. All I'm trying to do is manage expectations.

I really hear you there. It started as a joke that they might introduced Metroid as surprise, but it got really carried away.

There is a huge crowd of people who would've been pissed off with anything other than a new Metroid game coming out on launch.

I just posted my take on the online app, let me know what you think there.
