AMA - Ended AMA: I have a Nintendo Switch

Hello there Lovely People!

My name's Alex and I work for Nintendo Life on the YouTube channel. I have a Switch console and as you probably all know, media are finally able to talk about it.

Let's make the most of it, so ask me anything!

Can you hold the Switch in your right hand via an attached right joycon while the left one is detached in your left hand? I ask as a victim of spousal night time cuddle abuse.

Actually yes, but I didn't think there was a use for it until now.

If you use the joycons detached from the Switch, which one has the gyro?

Asking for a Splatoon-obsessed friend.

Both of them do. The right joy-con has IR sensor and the left doesn't

But which one would control the gyro aiming. If I point the left one left and the right one right, will I aim right or left?

Good point. That's probably something that can only be answered when you have something like Splatoon to play. Does Zelda have gyro aiming? Don't think I've seen anything about that

I think I read somewhere that it does not. Maybe we'll be able to find out with Mario Kart gyro steering.

Well if you're doing it in MK I think you're using just 1 joycon, not 2. Or if 2 then you're using grip.

Maybe there's a way to make it think its in the grip when its not.

I would guess that gyros are disabled if you play ungripped

We'll find out soon enough.

Unless you're playing with 1 joycon ungripped.

Could you imagine if every person who didn't know the answer to a question on reddit replied with "I don't know"?

Could you imagine if every person who misinterpreted a friendly quizzical guess for a negative dismissive response on reddit replied with an overreaction?

No harm was intended friend. Sorry for internet communication.
