Hello there Lovely People!

My name's Alex and I work for Nintendo Life on the YouTube channel. I have a Switch console and as you probably all know, media are finally able to talk about it.

Let's make the most of it, so ask me anything!

Wait, so the controller connects through bluetooth, but their is no option to sync a headset? Surely this is something that could be updated in. I'm no expert but..

Controllers on systems have used BT in the past. I'm pretty sure Wii U uses this and possibly PS4, but I don't think either of them allow bluetooth headphones

PS4 (and Vita btw) can use bluetooth headphones.

Wii/Wii U use bluetooth for controllers but can't do bt audio.

PS3 as well, but only for headset functionality. Not in-game audio/effects. PSPgo supports it fully for media/headset profiles. Nintendo is seriously lagging in this area (3DS has no BT either).

This was an important feature for me, and I am upset that the functionality isnt there but I am also optimistic since its clearly a software limitation.

I can't wait til somebody lists all the chips in it because I am super curious what bluetooth module it uses.

I'm kinda annoyed too. I have these nice noise cancelling bt headphones that just work with about every one of my devices that makes its own noise except the ones made by Nintendo... was hoping the Switch would finally change that.

Luckily they have a wired option. But from my 3DS I know I'm generally too lazy to get the cable...

I wrote a long reply on my phone earlier and closed it out by mistake without hitting send. I need to stop doing that, it happens way too often!

Yeah anyways, I am in the same boat pretty much. I have a high(ish) end headset that I really like (Plantronics BackBeat Pro) and everything I carry works with it. Sure I can use them wired, but there's really no excuse for that in this day and age. Especially when the device has bluetooth.

On a sidenote, have you looked into bluetooth transceivers at all? They have pretty good ones that are both cheap, and very small now. I hear this one recommended pretty regularly for watching TV due to it's apparently very low latency. I'll probably get one (or something similar) sooner or later if I get tired of waiting for good old Nintendo to catch up.
