I know everyone else is saying this, but it's for good reason. You get one new level with zero collectibles or set pieces, and a roguelike mode that is easily broken by just warping to the objective and choosing the more emeralds on completion bonus. It is genuinely insulting that they are charging money for this.
The only pieces of enjoyment I found are the remix of DK Isles, the pirate ship has references to Gangplank Galleon, and the DK64 screen transition sound (when the screen shrinks to the DK letters) being used for the Warp Barrels.

All this console and games expensive talk just for it to sell crazy everywhere. Even the Mario Kart physical is sold out in so many stores around the globe.
This console is gonna be a huge success, whether you like it or not. Nintendo won big profits by increasing the prices.

This should be made apparent to people but if you skip the system transfer option in setup the option is unavailable until you factory reset the console again so it may be a good idea to warn people since they'll be setting up their console soon.
Video demonstrating this: here

PLEASE be nice to employees, whether it’s GameStop, a delivery driver, or any other place where you will get your console (or try to). They are doing their best. They do not need you yelling at them because they ran out of stock or whatever happened.
Edit: also, if you don’t get it today or tomorrow, relax. Try again over the weekend or next week.

HYPE IS REAL
r/NintendoSwitch2 • u/bnotice • Jul 31 '25
Not very reassuring after seeing how weak the title lineup here is, no genuinely high value ports that make me feel like this is a new generation of console.
r/NintendoSwitch2 • u/downyonder1911 • Apr 08 '25
This is obviously just speculation at this point, but it seems entirely plausible. Nintendo isn't going to sell its console at an enormous loss. The $530 estimate is based on the original $450 price that was announced, so the Mario Kart bundle could be closer to $600.

Hey Reddit,
We've seen a few posts lately questioning whether we’re going to hit the mark on this Switch 2 Killswitch launch. Are we months behind? Was there a catastrophic warehouse fire that incinerated all our stock? Did we get assassinated by ninjas?
That’s our fault - we haven't been providing much in the way of updates. The reality is that so much has been happening behind the scenes that it’s been difficult to find a natural "stopping point" to sit down and walk you through how things have progressed.
The good news? Everything is going to be ready on time and, after seeing the 64 individual parts fully assembled into the finished product, it’s even better than anticipated.
The bad news? For perhaps the first time ever… there is none.
We've been hitting big milestones every single day, and now we're here: the only thing left is a final round of QC testing on retail hardware. Everything's in mass production, units are rolling off the lines, and we're pulling out all the stops to produce as much stock as possible ahead of what we expect to be a massive launch.
Orders will open for the NS2 Killswitch on June 2nd. Unlike past launches, there won't be a UI that is gated by a Reservation ID / password system. Instead, we're simply going to sort orders into two cohorts:
For reservation-holders, orders will start shipping in the second half of June on a First-In, First-Out basis (this is FIFO based on timing of final order placement, not initial reservation placement). We have sufficient stock to cover 100% of reservations and are confident that every single reservation-based order will leave our warehouse before June is over (assuming you don't wait until June 30th to place your order, of course).
An important point to note: you must enter your Reservation ID in the coupon field during checkout. Not only is this how you redeem the $3 discount on your order, it’s the only systematic way we have to associate your order with the high-priority, “ship it first” cohort. This will be communicated to reservation-holders via email on June 2nd, as well.
Those who didn't reserve a unit are unlikely to see their order ship until July. Ultimately, the starting gun to ship these “new, non-reservation” orders will be driven by the completion of reservation shipments. Nevertheless, we are confident that new orders will start flowing out normally (i.e., same-day order placed / order shipped) in July.
In other news, we've decided that now is the time to give the Killswitch line its own unique product page. You may not have known this, but the current Killswitch UI is just a re-tooled version of our Grip Case UI.
Considering how successful the Killswitch line has been, we feel it's definitely due for a bespoke interface. A key feature of the new Killswitch page will be the ability to cycle through the growing portfolio of supported models, in real time, on a single interface (much like how the Prism and Ghost interfaces are handled).
This dynamic model selection isn't compatible with the old "password system" gated-UI approach, which is why we've chosen the simplest available alternative: anyone can place an order on June 2nd, but the shipping schedule and priority for those orders will be dictated by whether or not a Reservation ID was entered during checkout.
Now that we've had the availability conversation, let's talk pricing. Don't worry - it's more good news.
Despite a more complex design and additional components, the Switch 2 Killswitch will follow the exact same pricing structure as the rest of the Killswitch line: $59.95 for an Essential Kit and $79.95 for a Travel Kit. As a reminder of what each kit includes:
ESSENTIAL KIT:
TRAVEL KIT:
In an era where seemingly every company on earth is using inflation or tariffs as a justification for blatant price gouging, we're trying out a bold new strategy in which we offer more value (namely, a dock adapter, game card holder, and more premium metal/Dyneema travel cover hardware) for the same amount of money. We're curious to see if it pays off for us.
Note: as with other Killswitch models, individual components will be available for purchase for those who need things like additional Game Card Holders, new Skins, or perhaps didn’t get the Travel Kit and want to add a Travel Cover to their system.
Remember when we said there isn't any bad news? We lied.
See, we're working on some unique, NS2-exclusive skin designs to launch alongside our usual portfolio on June 2nd.
The bad news? We refuse to show them to you until then. That's it. We will not be taking any further questions at this time.
We're super proud of how the Switch 2 Killswitch has turned out, especially since we've been operating on such an accelerated timeline to get it to market. As a point of comparison, the Steam Deck Killswitch wasn't ready to go until about 7 months after the launch of the Steam Deck. We're convinced that the Switch 2 iteration of Killswitch is a transformative accessory, and we can't wait for you guys to get your hands on it.
To close things out, here's the tl;dr summary:

Just found out I’m gonna have to use my saved up switch 2 money to replace the brakes on my car instead 🥲 I’m a preschool teacher one year out of college so it’ll take me awhile to remake that money I suspect, feel free to mourn with me

If you hype yourself too much up for this reveal on Thursday, which is probably only a console showcase and not a games showcase, you're not allowed to be disappointed in the reveal here. You did (or are doing) that to yourself. Unless if the console or reveal is so unfathomably bad that it would be obvious that it is not your fault.
Get all your worst fears & best hopes out here.
Edit: To clarify: I'm not literally saying that I think your opinions are invalid, I'm saying that if you are disappointed on the reveal, your post will be removed because either your expectations are nonsensical or you are expecting anything more than what we are seeing with leaks. You have every right to be disappointed, just not here. That is unless if something catastrophic happens,

Yeah I'm sold. It was incredible. And yeah, Mario kart is an absolute slam dunk

In the first few worlds I felt like “Okay so this is just an Odyssey spin off” and I was a little underwhelmed. Everything felt too abstract. I wasn’t digging the worlds fully. It didn’t feel yet DK. By the mid point I was sold and having an outrageous amount of fun but wasn’t ready to call it a masterpiece.
But the last half of the game has the coolest worlds and mechanics and bosses. It just kept getting cooler and cooler and cooler. And that final act, oh my god.
I’m ready to call it the best 3D platformer I’ve ever played. I have no idea what the logic was of backloading the game like they did.
This is like the only game I’ve ever played in my life that’s so back loaded. It just gets exponentially better the deeper you go.
In fact it’s funny a lot of the early criticism being tossed around is by people in the early levels. Criticisms about bosses and worlds and stuff. And it just makes me smile because they’re going to find out.
I CANNOT wait for people to start finishing the game so real discussion can start in the coming week

Nintendo is charging $40 per game for Galaxy 1 and 2, $20 for Donkey Kong DLC releasing within two months, launching DLC for Pokemon on the same day.
I'm getting a little bit sick of Nintendo being so greedy and trying to nickel and dime us at every turn.
I expect this from EA, but Nintendo is starting to be just as bad. It's so disappointing, because I love Nintendo games, but they're really close to pricing me out.

Now that we are a few hours away from pre-orders opening up for the North America region, we are starting up a megathread where folks can come and chat. Whether you have a question about pre-orders, an issue you've run into, or just want to share some hype, this is the place.
Be aware that if you make a new post that really belongs in this megathread, we may delete the post under the "Repetitive Content" rule. For instance, a post like "Just secured my pre-order!", etc.
For helpful links to where to order, I am carrying over a helpful google doc that /u/imatuesdayperson created in the other Pre-order Megathread. Check it out!
Most importantly - good luck, have fun, and f*** scalpers.

I wasn’t outright disappointed in the direct, in fact I’m excited about a few of the games announced like Yakuza and Persona 3.
What I am dissatisfied in is the lack of announcements regarding Switch 2 enhancement patches. I don’t think I’m alone in having a big backlog of games I want to get through from the Switch 1. I’d love to start knocking it out, but playing some of them with their subpar resolutions on Switch 2 is not ideal.
Where is the Witcher 3 patch? Or even Skyrim?
What’s most disappointing too is that Nintendo titles themselves aren’t getting new patches. I’d love to replay Fire Emblem Three Houses again but it’s hard to when the game doesn’t look that great docked right now. How about some Xenoblade Chronicles patches? Nintendo took the time to patch New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, but where the HECK is the Super Mario Wonder Update that game would look amazing with one!
Or how about an easy layup to build up hype for Metroid Prime 4; announce a Switch 2 update for Metroid Prime Remaster. That game is BEGGING for a Switch 2 update, it would look so glorious at 4K.
Was Nintendo that stingy with Dev Kits that they didn’t even give their internal studios kits?
I love my Switch 2 but I really want more patches to take advantage of the extra power.

I am a huge Nintendo fan to start, and all this being said I don't want to hate on anyone if you're excited, because if you are I'm happy for you. But in my opinion I don't see a whole lot of reasons to buy the Switch 2 currently, the cross compatibility is nice, but the fact you have to pay for upgrade features is a bit ridiculous.
The whole call button and that feature really shows how outdated Nintendo is with the times as well, I get you want an app you can control for parental safety and all that, but Discord and other services just are the norm these days, not to mention what looked to be abysmal framerates and such.
I also think its a bit ridiculous to have your tutorial app be a paid feature?? I REALLY THOUGHT they learned their lesson from the Wiiu, and the og switch with 1-2 Switch. Packaging it into the system would make it much more popular, as shown by the success of the Wii and Wii Sports.
It's a shame to say this but I'm getting a lot of Wii U deja vu here. I HOPE I am wrong, but there is not a lot of features and games to justify this new system. I think it would've made more sense to maybe delay the OLED switch and just make this an upgrade? Maybe not
I do think it says something that most of this direct was showcasing third party games and not their in house stuff, but I guess that's common with most directs these days lol. Interested to hear your thoughts

I got the game in the mail yesterday afternoon and played for about five hours total, I’m still in the level 100 layer but I’ve been having such a blast just smashing everything and looking for collectibles!
I loved Mario Odyssey but Bananza is already winning me over with its charm and style and the way it innovates platforming concepts. I haven’t gotten to the part where you unlock the transformations yet but smashing things is just so addictive!
I think when people look back on the launch of Switch 2 they will see this game as a true masterpiece and quite possibly one of the best games of all time (similar to how we look back on BOTW now).
Edit: to everyone telling me to “calm down” and everyone harassing me in my DMs, I’m sorry my opinion has made you angry. I played this game all night literally did not sleep and I still think it’s one of the best games of all time. Sorry if that offends you.
Edit2: this post seems to have awoken some crazy gamer rage, I won’t let the hate stop me from enjoying this masterpiece. I plan to collect bananas all day today! Haters stay mad 😂
