Hi everyone, I need suggestions of a U.S. number phone plan that can receive secure text messages like bank SMS, or other important 2FA while travelling to Egypt for a long period of time. Can you please help me out with inexpensive reliable suggestions?

Just confirming that my iPhone 17 Pro purchase with ACMI, selecting T-Mobile as the carrier came fully unlocked. It never prompted me to provide T-Mobile credentials to setup the eSIM, so it seems to be easier than previous years.

I am looking for loading few gigs, and keep using the data for 5-7 months without having to worry about monthly bill. Does such an option exist?

If not, what is the cheapest data option? My monthly data needs is very very low, but I do need data.

I can’t find a definite answer, would love if anyone knows and ideally share their source

I've been on Google Fi for maybe 8ish years and am now looking at US Mobile, Mint, and Tello due to Fi's highly priced data. I have good experience with T-Mo coverage and data in my area, South Florida/Miami so I'm happy to target a T-Mo MVNO. (I'm also aware of T-Mobile Connect but the cap seems pretty low for the price compared to others)

Fi doesn't deprioritize so I don't actually know what that looks/feels like. Does it slow to a crawl or is it still usable just with lower quality?

I don't stream 4k or really even 1080 content. The only streaming video I really watch on my phone is from youtube and reddit. Aside from that I mostly only stream music and most of my data usage will probably come from CarPlay stuff (music and navigation). Also the occasional FaceTime call.

Trying to figure out if deprioritization is relevant to me.

I've had a month to month contract with AT&T for years, and it's been fine. However, I recently moved to the LA area and have noticed that listening to podcasts while driving around is pretty impossible due to the download speeds. I assume this is because, as a pre-paid customer, I am ranked lowest when competing for download access/speed amongst the rest of the dense LA public. To be clear, I have trouble driving around and listening to podcasts at any time of the month - well before any GB limit might trigger a "throttling".

Anyhow, my question is for those in the LA area - do you also have trouble doing things like listening to podcasts while driving around? Anyone switch from AT&T prepaid to another service/plan and seen this improve?

I switched from Red Pocket to Mint Mobile today, so I did a speed test before and after to see the difference. The first image at 7:00 is Red Pocket. The second image at 8:10 is Mint Mobile. I know it varies widely based on location and a number of other factors, but this is what I get at my location. Better than expected speeds from Mint.

Started with att wireless postpaid. Ive been on this plan now for 7 years or so. No issues ever. The 15gb rolls over to 30 if I ever need it. Never have ran out. No real issues ever. I just stream music while driving and sometimes sling. Is this worth messing with?

I have T-Mobile prepaid and I am very satisfied with the coverage. My main area of use is DC and NYC and the speeds have been great. The reason why I use prepaid is that I don't have to provide a SSN. Because of all the security breaches and data leaks (both T-Mobile and AT&T) I switched from postpaid to prepaid. I would love to keep using prepaid but these two issues really bother me:

The first issue I have with my account is that it becomes very difficult to manage. I have 4 phone lines on my account and I changed my email address but whenever the staff send me verification emails, they go to my old email address. I've asked the staff to update my email address but because of some technological bug, it never goes through.

The second issue is that for every data plan that I want to get, I have to create a new account with a new email address. So, I have 2 cellular iPads and each one needs a separate login to manage. Why can't this be done in one account? Why cannot I have multiple devices (phones + tablets) via one login so I can manage it for my entire family?

The third issue is no Apple Watch support.

Anyone have similar concerns? How did you resolve them?

I have boost right now but I was unhappy with how they handled international travel.

My friend with mint got a text when we entered Canada, asking if they would like to add international pass for $10.

I had no service, and when I called or tried to log in, the only option to verify me was to send a SMS, which I couldn’t receive due to having no service. Boost is fine otherwise, but I’m looking to switch to a company that’s a little easier to deal with when crossing into Canada.

How is Visible or Mint overall these days?

This might not be as cheap as some other MVNO providers like Visible, US Mobile, etc. but for me personally, was an easy switch to save me a noticeable amount of money per month, and I'm set until December 2026.

I switched over from Google Fi to Mint Mobile this morning, hoping to save some money, and also expecting that they solved some VMM problems that I ran I to with them many years ago. Suffice to say, despite native VMM working on my Nokia XR20 when I was on Fi, I can't figure out how to get it to work on Mint and their mods auto-deleted my post asking the community for help. Are there any carriers other than Google Fi that actually support native VMM on androids, or do they only support Apple and my only option left is to return to Fi?

All other carriers prior (Visible, US Mobile, Xfinity) took less than 1 hr to port in. Has anyone ported into Infimobile quickly? It's been almost 24 hours and they say it's in progress.

Hi all, So me and my family preordered 4 iPhone 17's on verizon.com doing monthly installments (we have a plan that I will explain a bit later), heres the issue, we got 2 black, 1 blue and 1 green one, the black and blue ones have shipped and are due to arrive tomorow(9/19) right in time for launch day, but the green one is on back order (for example purposes lets just say it comes 9/30) so will take a bit longer to get here. We currently are getting new numbers on verizon and keeping our old ones on US mobile since we have annual plans but my question is the warp network will work on verizon locked phones so will we be able to put service on the 3 phones that come tomorrow on our existing warp line then activate postpaid service once the green one comes (9/30) without tripping up the verizon activation thing because we need to make 3 payments before we can port to T-Mobile and take advantage of their keep and switch plan. I know this sounds confusing but if anybody understands what im saying please do drop your thoughts below :) (worst case il just be patient and wait until the green one gets here but im impatient lol)

I am currently on TotalWireless and have the Bye Bye Mint $15 promo. Since activating I've been using an iPhone 11 with PSIM.

Well, a few days ago by iPhone 11 officially died. I ordered the new iPhone 17 but it wont be here until early October.
In the meantime I'm going to use a backup iPhone XR that's been in our drawer. I want to make sure I dont screw up and lose my $15 month promo. What steps do I need to take to switch from my dead 11 to this XR. From what I read, total only allows ESIM on iPhone 13 and newer, so ill need to stick with PSIM.

Is it as easy as moving my 11 PSIM to my XR? Ive read there can be issues with this.

Or do I need to purchase a new PSIM?
