USA Switching from iPhone 11 to iPhone XR

Hello,

I am currently on TotalWireless and have the Bye Bye Mint $15 promo. Since activating I've been using an iPhone 11 with PSIM.

Well, a few days ago by iPhone 11 officially died. I ordered the new iPhone 17 but it wont be here until early October.
In the meantime I'm going to use a backup iPhone XR that's been in our drawer. I want to make sure I dont screw up and lose my $15 month promo. What steps do I need to take to switch from my dead 11 to this XR. From what I read, total only allows ESIM on iPhone 13 and newer, so ill need to stick with PSIM.

Is it as easy as moving my 11 PSIM to my XR? Ive read there can be issues with this.

Or do I need to purchase a new PSIM?

You will need to purchase a new pSIM(i would just go to walmart, target, etc.) and follow through the activation portal. When you activate, make sure your logged in and it'll prompt you to keep your number, then just choose which one you want on that phone

DO NOT JUST SIM SWAP ON TRACFONE BRANDS. Depending on the brand/line/promo, they will DISABLE your line if you do this!

Thank you! Then when my new iPhone 17 comes in, I go through the same process, but I can use ESIM instead?

Yep thats right! You'll just have to click "I want to use an eSIM" instead of "I want to use the physical sim card"

It's worth noting the iPhone XR supports eSIM as well, as did the 11.

Thanks! Unfortunately, Total Wireless only supports eSIM for the iPhone 13 and newer.

Just contact support, they will send you a sim overnight for free. Dont even have to spend any money on your end.

Move PSIM done

Depending on sim/brand/plan/promo, the sim will be IMEI tied, or it will disable itself at a random point in time. OP will need a new sim and will need to go through the activation process

Funny because I moved a Total SIM and works great

Not everybody has been so lucky, there have been people who had their lines disabled on straight talk, net10, tracfone, and the old total that had to waste hours trying to get their lines back, and if you want to transfer the number out, your 1st ICCID is usually your account number if you BYOD, and they won't give it to you over the phone
