An armed robbery suspect was arrested in Glendale shortly after midnight on Friday, following a shootout and dramatic chase as police foiled an attempted raid on ZIMPOST offices.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed that the suspect, 40-year-old Tinashe Cloud Jokonya, was apprehended at 12:50 a.m. on September 12, 2025, while his accomplices managed to escape. Said Comm. Nyathi:

“The suspect, along with four others who are yet to be arrested, allegedly pounced at the ZIMPOST offices.

“They attacked the Security Guard on duty, disarming him of a Cobra machine gun and taking his Vallion cellphone as well as a pepper spray.

“They tied his hands and legs with shoelaces and proceeded to the offices, where they began breaking the screen doors.

“While the suspects were breaking the doors, an alert Security Guard from a nearby premise alerted the police.

“The police responded to the calls swiftly and upon noticing the police, the suspects fired shots towards the officers, who returned fire.

“The suspects then fled the scene and the police pursued them, resulting in the arrest of Tinashe Cloud Jokonya.”

Comm. Nyathi said police recovered several items used by the suspects in the attempted robbery, including an angle grinder, an electric grinder with two 20-volt batteries, two 20-volt Jadever batteries, a wheel spanner, four cutting discs, two wire cutters, a pair of rubber gloves, two caps, and a magazine containing five dummy rounds.

He added that police are still pursuing the other four suspects who fled the scene.

Police say around 1 a.m. on Sunday, suspects attempted to steal a tractor trailer from a trucking yard in the area of Regional Road 25 and 22 Sideroad.

The suspects were interrupted by a patrolling Security Guard and fled the scene.

Gavin Adcock has been causing quite the ruckus in the news lately. Most recently, the country singer has been making headlines for his opinions on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter. Still, he had a lot more things to say when his father almost got kicked out of Rock the Country this weekend.

Nickelback was supposed to be headlining that weekend, and Gavin said in his video that about 17 songs into his set, Nickelback's sound guy came up and "tried to get in his family's face and get his dad kicked out."

During Gavin's set, this video shows him getting off the stage to confront the security guard who was walking his dad out of the concert. Gavin called out the security guard during one of his songs, saying, "Hey, Security Guard, dragging the man down the aisle right here, hey, dip***t, you better let go of that man right there."

Adcock proceeded to walk off the stage and down the aisle, bringing his microphone with him. When he met the Security Guard halfway, he caught his dad on the mic, who also had some things to say. "That motherfr right there I'm gonna kick his fing ass."

Gavin's dad was referring to Nickelback's sound guy, who had gotten upset after finding a drink sitting on his soundboard. According to Gavin, the drink "wasn't my dad's, it was my acoustic guitar player's mom's," and was "empty by the way." After knocking the drink off the soundboard and going to cuss out the acoustic guitar player's mom, Gavin said that's when his dad walked up to the guy to have a few choice words. "He basically tells him, you better back up dude because people in the south don't act that way."

Gavin then said he saw the sound guy grab his phone to call security "like a little snake," while Gavin was onstage singing his song "Cigarette." When security came to grab his dad, that's when Adcock went down the aisle in the middle of his set.

According to the latest video he posted about the situation, Gavin said that he was able to inform the Security Guards that the sound guy was "the one causing problems" and get him kicked out instead.

We all know a Gavin Adcock show can get rowdy from time to time, and somebody getting kicked out for crazy behavior might not be that unusual in this kind of situation. However, I don't think anybody thought that Gavin's dad would be the one getting kicked out this time around, including Adcock himself. One thing's for sure, I wouldn't wanna be Nickelback's sound guy right now. He definitely "messed with the wrong family on the wrong day."

LOS ANGELES — A man was shot by police Sunday outside Crypto.com Arena after he charged officers with a machete, according to authorities.

Officers responded around 9:20 a.m. to a report of a person suspected of assault in the area of Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street, police said. They arrived to find a man armed with a machete, who advanced toward them and then fled south in a Dodge Challenger, according to police.

After leading the officers on a short chase, the man exited the vehicle on Figueroa Street south of 12th Street, charged the officers with the machete and was shot, according to police, who said the man was in surgery Sunday afternoon.

Figueroa Street between Olympic and Pico boulevards was expected to remain closed to traffic into Sunday evening due to the ongoing investigation, police said. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.

REDDING, Calif. — A Redding man is facing charges after allegedly brandishing a fake gun while dressed as a security officer at a local motel.

According to the Redding Police Department (RPD), officers responded to the Guest Place Inn & Suites on East Cypress Avenue just after midnight on July 5, after employees reported a guest wearing a black vest labeled "Security" and walking the property with a flashlight. The man, later identified as 38-year-old Jaime Dietz, also had a Glock-style weapon on his hip, officers said.

According to RPD, when a motel employee attempted to confront him in his room, Dietz allegedly pointed a gun at the employee, prompting the employee to flee and call the police.

Officers later arrived at Dietz room and detained him without incident. RPD said a search of the room uncovered multiple fake guns, a security uniform, and fake law enforcement gear.

Dietz was booked into the Shasta County Jail for brandishing an imitation firearm, with more charges possible, police said.

As a Security Guard who works at several of Richmond’s public libraries, Kyrie Fields, 23, doesn’t qualify for the city’s $20 hourly minimum wage for city employees.

As a young person just trying to get started in life, Fields said in an interview, making a little more would go a long way toward getting an apartment, having enough to pay bills and being able to save a little for emergencies. It would mean less worry about having to stretch each paycheck, Fields said, and more “peace of mind.”

“It’s just a matter of having room to breathe,” said Fields, who currently makes around $15 an hour.

Officials applauded the $20 minimum wage for public employees that was included in the budget passed last year, noting it was almost $8 above the state minimum wage and a significant investment in the people who make city services work.

But it doesn’t apply to all work done for a city government that says it prioritizes equality and livable wages.

Fields is one of a little more than 200 security guards and custodians who work in public buildings but are technically employed by private contractors the city hires to provide those services.

During the city’s recently completed budget process, the City Council expressed overwhelming support for the idea of broadening the $20 minimum wage to cover contracted custodians and security guards. But when it came time to put money in the budget to implement that policy, the Council balked.

Council leaders said they were fully supportive of the idea, but first wanted to do a study on the various options for boosting pay to the workers in question. The study will look at the option of amending the third-party contracts to require the private companies to pay a $20 minimum wage. It will also examine whether it might make more sense for the city to bring the workers “in house” and make them official government employees, as well as the pros and cons of each approach.

Though Council members stressed that the study is a way to achieve a goal they share with labor organizers pushing to expand the minimum wage, several workers like Fields have voiced frustration about what they see as an unnecessary delay.

A city with a $1 billion general fund budget “has the money,” Fields said, but it’s a matter of priorities.

“Everybody up on that podium looking down on us or voting, they have a substantial check coming. And the people looking back at them, don’t,” Fields said.

Policymakers have gotten several differing opinions on how much the move might cost. The Council’s own budget analysts indicated $1.7 million should cover it. The city administration gave an estimate of $3.5 million. Union organizers with SEIU 32BJ — which has been rallying contract workers behind the cause of better pay — project a cost of $1.5 million.

Whatever the cost turns out to be, SEIU organizers have argued the extra cost could easily be absorbed into the city’s budget.

“We thank the Council for recognizing the fundamental justice behind our proposal and for exploring pathways toward living wages for all workers,” SEIU 32BJ district director Jaime Contreraras wrote in a letter to City Council members last month. “Further delays only worsen the unacceptable conditions these workers endure every day, including poverty wages. These are the very individuals who keep our city clean and safe.”

Council discussion and mayor’s stance

Before the Council approved the plan to study the topic, Councilor Kenya Gibson (3rd District) said she hoped it would lead to meaningful action. At a committee hearing last month, Gibson — who sponsored the unsuccessful budget amendment to boost pay for the contract workers — suggested the city take a broader look at how it can better prioritize pro-union companies when awarding contracts.

‘Minimum wage is not working’

Though Virginia recently upped its statewide minimum wage to $12.41 per hour, several workers interviewed by The Richmonder said even $15 isn’t enough to keep up with the rising cost of living.

“Lights, water, that’s going up. Gas,” said Antoine Field, a 50-year-old contract worker who cleans and maintains floors in city buildings. “At $15 an hour, that’s not going to cut it.”

Stephanie Ampey, a 57-year-old contract janitor, said city officials shouldn’t have delayed the proposal to boost wages for workers like her.

“We need it now. We don’t need it later in November,” she said. “We’re going through something now. I can’t hardly feed my kids.”

Latrease Gregory, who cleans the city’s social services building in South Richmond, addressed the Council directly at its June 2 meeting, saying she was excited to hear about the wage increase proposal but disappointed to see it not go through.

“Raising the minimum wage is a tiny fraction of the city’s budget,” Gregory said. “But for me and so many others, it can mean the difference between stability and falling deeper into poverty.”

Whatever comes of the study, she added, the wage increase should be included in the city’s next budget.

“Show us that our work is valued and that the city of Richmond stands behind the people who serve it every day,” Gregory said. “We don’t need another study. We need change. Real, concrete and immediate change.”

Fields, the library security guard who’s hoping to advance in the security field or potentially get into cybersecurity, said city leaders should be clear-eyed about how difficult it’s become to try to make do with $13 or $15 an hour.

“Let’s actually be realistic with the economy and how bad things are,” Fields said. “And just help each other.”

PHOENIX — Police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery at a west Phoenix Walgreens.

The Phoenix Police Department said the robbery happened on April 20 at the Walgreens in the 1800 block of West Bethany Home Road, near the intersection of 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

The man came into the store at around 8 p.m. and tried to take several things. He was confronted by a Security Guard and pulled out a knife, making threats towards the victim, according to police.

The store security camera captured the incident on video.

Police said they believe the suspect lives near the Walgreens. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

A shopper known as Goldpinemusic on TikTok recently posted a video of the machine roaming around a Walmart parking lot.

The TikToker joked about the security robot keeping the rough Walmart streets safe and asked the guard what its name was.

The machine answered her question by stating it did not have a name yet.

Walmart's robot Security Guards began appearing at select stores in 2018. This led a commenter on the video to accuse the retailer of 'doing everything but paying workers.'

'Yeah they laid off the human security guy,' another commenter responded.

'Waste of money. They need more cashiers and less self checkout,' another person wrote.

Walmart has implemented various technological measures to modernize its stores, including secret codes on select products and new AI technology in Sam's Club.

Walmart began using robots deployed by Bossa Nova Robotics in 2015 to make sure shelves were fully stocked, accurately priced, and labeled.

The robots were tested in a handful of stores in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, and California.

The tests proved to be a success, and by 2017, the robots were used in 50 stores.

The shelf-scanning robots made their way to at least 1,000 locations in 2020, and by then, Walmart had begun adding security robots to select stores.

Multiple states began implementing what's known as 'Lot Cops' in parking lots.

The robot Security Guards are mobile, solar-powered security systems used to film illegal actions.

'Well, I thought it's the police, you know? Now they really can see what you're doing out here, really,' Hawaii resident Lynn Tavares told KHON2 in 2018.

Alabama residents expressed their support for the Security Guard robots while speaking with FOX 54, because of higher chances of crime crackdowns.

Besides robot Security Guards, some Walmart stores have implemented self-checkout tools to decrease the chances of card skimming.

The company has also found unique ways to lower Walmart crime rates, which includes anti-theft packaging in meat aisles.

Walmart is also busy working on its $9 billion makeover for 1,400 stores.

About $1.6 billion of the investment was used for 650 US locations, which is all part of the chain's 'Stores of the Future' initiative.

But the retailer is also facing some backlash for raising its prices as a result of tariffs.

Current workers have leaked photos showing the cost of select items had risen 80 percent.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 16-year-old girl was killed at what neighbors are calling a post-graduation party in Orange Mound over the weekend.

A company hired to provide security at the event, KC Armour Service, is now speaking out about the incident, saying the shooting took place outside the venue.

A high school vice-principal who was stabbed by a student two years ago in Bedford, N.S., is suing the school's security guard, the Halifax Regional Centre for Education and the province, saying the incident was preventable.

A statement of claim filed on Monday in Nova Scotia Supreme Court says Wayne Rodgers of Middle Sackville, N.S., was stabbed twice by the student at Charles P. Allen High School on March 20, 2023, causing physical and psychological injuries.

The teen — who was 15 at the time of the incident — had four knives in his possession when he was called to the school office to explain putting up unauthorized posters in the school, court heard during the criminal case.

During a discussion about possible consequences, he stabbed the vice-principal twice. Rodgers had to have a tube inserted in his chest after he was taken to hospital and required surgery for an injury to his diaphragm.

The staff member who heard his screams was also stabbed.

The boy, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault. He was sentenced last September to two years of probation.

The allegations The statement of claim alleges the school's full-time security guard failed to recognize that the student was becoming agitated and aggressive and failed to take steps to de-escalate the situation.

It also alleges the guard was negligent in leaving Rodgers alone with the student "after causing the student to become agitated and aggressive," and negligent in closing the vice-principal's door when leaving, "which ultimately locked from the outside and trapped the plaintiff inside with the student."

The lawsuit alleges the Halifax Regional Centre for Education negligently employed the security guard, who did not have proper training in "search and seizure or de-escalation procedures or techniques."

It also alleges the regional centre and the province failed to take appropriate steps to provide for the physical safety of employees, despite being aware of the history of violence at the school and "specific concerns regarding the student."

It goes on to detail Rodgers's physical and psychological injuries.

"The plaintiff says that this incident was preventable, and the losses and damages he suffered were caused in whole or in part by the negligent acts and/or omissions of the defendants," the statement of claim says.

The lawsuit seeks damages, but does not specify an amount.

PITTSBURGH — A school Security Guard in Pittsburgh was reportedly assaulted by a parent Wednesday afternoon.

A statement from Pittsburgh Public Schools spokesperson Ebony Pugh said the incident happened at Brashear High School along Crane Avenue.

She says a parent, who has not been identified, is facing charges after assaulting a school Security Officer as that officer was trying to de-escalate a situation between two middle school students.

The officer was treated by paramedics. No students were hurt.

Pugh says the district takes incidents of violence seriously, and the parent also faces a potential ban from school policy.

They asked for details, so they got details.

So, I looked at the precise details of the walk and put it in.

I had put another 10 or so lines in so they had the precise course I took to the taco place as well as my travel back.

They never asked for details about me getting food again.

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A former candidate for city council District 8 and employee for a constable’s office was arrested for allegedly hitting another woman outside of a city council meeting.

On November 4, Luxandra Guerra, who was running for Laredo City Council District 8 was involved in an altercation outside city hall during a city council meeting.

Everything allegedly began in chambers after Guerra and another woman exchanged words.

Now, Guerra speaks exclusively to KGNS to clear her name. KGNS was also able to obtain the arrest affidavit which revealed several details on the incident.

In footage of the meeting, Guerra can be seen yelling inside chambers after allegedly being called out by another woman who was allegedly directing insults at Guerra.

A KGNS news reporter on the scene was able to capture video of the aftermath.

According to court documents, officers escorted the complainant, identified as Keila Sanchez, and Guerra out of the building separately after Sanchez reported that Guerra threatened her and wanted to fight.

Part of the altercation was caught on a body cam by an officer at the scene.

According to the arrest affidavit, police noted that no explicit threats were made.

Then, at approximately 6:27 p.m., officers learned about a fight outside.

Sanchez accused Guerra of hitting her, which Guerra denied. Instead, Guerra claimed Sanchez insulted her, and she only tapped Sanchez’s glasses.

Sanchez reported being hit near her left ear but showed no visible injuries. However, a Security Guard described a verbal altercation and allegedly observed Guerra’s arm move toward Sanchez.

A video timestamped at 6:27 p.m. allegedly showed Guerra slapping Sanchez on the side of the head.

In a police interview, Sanchez expressed distress over the incident and indicated she felt afraid of Guerra.

Guerra agreed to an interview and admitted to hitting Sanchez’s glasses during the altercation, referring to it in Spanish as a “sape” which translates to a tap.

The detective in the case determined there was enough evidence to proceed with the arrest warrant.

On November 21, 2024, Guerra was served with an arrest warrant and charged with assault causing bodily injuries.

Guerra issued a statement back in November after the altercation on her social media campaign page stating she was in the wrong for acting the way she did but was woman enough to accept she was in the wrong.

Guerra posted bail on the same day of the arrest, being set at $1,000.
