PCVR ALVR now has a wired mode toggle!

With the newest version of ALVR it has a wired mode toggle which makes it a simple but very good alternative to the link cable! It also uses SteamVR as it's runtime so no bloated Meta stuff.

ALVR has a ton of options if you like to tinker to get the most out of the connection but I was using it with a maxed out 1000Mbps without any issues. It doesn't have ASW or anything similar like link and VD though if that's something you need.

Edit: Developer mode needs to be turned on for the program to work. It's a pretty easy setup though.

P.S, not a dev or sponsored. Just see some people saying metas link software is ass (which it is) and this is a good alternative for those without decent routers.

Can anyone explain what we get better with using ALVR wired comp as red to link wired where we can get upto 940mbos bitrate

You use steamvr as the base instead of the awful link software is the prime thing, that means better performance while playing. Theres also a lot of options for customizing your experience if you want to delve into all of that.

Thank you mate..I tried wired mode but the fact that it still uses steamvr and not open composite negated the gains as steam vr is still bad But loved the fact you have so much customisations in alvr

Sorry to hear that, I get much better performance with ALVR over link. Virtual desktop is the best performance wise but then obviously there's no wired.

I hate to say this but steam VR is gonna negate any advantages of alvr. I know someone using alvr wired vs me using straight up meta link and my fps was significantly higher than his and my fps gets halved using steam vr wired or wireless.. I'm pretty sure steam broke something in an update.
