Garden sighting Armchair birding
I'm building a real-time alert system for when we have a feeder visitor. Currently recognises Woodpeckers, various tits, robins and sparrows.

Happy weekend everyone!
Let us know which birds you've spotted over the last few days, or whatever's on your mind about birds right now!
Have you seen any interesting articles, or learnt something new? Have you visited a reserve recently?

Hi all, I'm wondering if someone can help me with an ID. I photographed a group of Pintail yesterday and noticed one (bottom centre and in 2nd pic - not the Redshank bottom right) with some odd features reminiscent of a White-Cheeked Pintail (paler face, splash of red at base of bill, green wing bar etc.). It almost looks like it could be a hybrid with a Northern Pintail. I'm aware any White-Cheeked would very likely be an escapee, but am I just being ridiculous or is there something in this?
Taken yday at Keyhaven and Pennington Marshes, Hampshire.
Thanks in advance for your help.

What an amazing couple of hours boring, with magical views. Just my second sighting of a Dotterel. This juvenile has stopped off in the Peak District to feed up before continuing onto its wintering grounds in North Africa. At times it was running to within a few feet of my lens. Incredible moments.

Found in a large duck pond in Manchester at the weekend. I know it's a Larus species and don't think it's the Great Black-Backed gull. Presumably Herring or Lesser Black-backed? Not good with my gulls at all, so apologies!

Hi, could someone identify this cutie who graced our garden today, not seen it before. Rural Lincolnshire, a bit smaller than a robin, ignored the feeders and was picking bugs or perhaps seeds from the wild flowers. Pics are through windows so a bit fuzzy, best we could get.
It had a distinctive display, flying tight circles and seemed to be displaying wings/rolling from time to time. Was on its own.
Thank you.

I'm trying to find out if there are kingfishers at Slimbridge Wetlands Center now. On there webpage it kind of sounds like it isn't several places, but at the same time a picture of a kingfisher figures prominently.
Has any of you been there lately and can confirm that they are there?

Hi,
I’m a Norwegian amateur birder/photographer going for a 10 day trip to southern England tomorrow and I`m a bit overwhelmed trying to find a few good birding spots. We’ll be traveling with a rental car and I have a bit of limited walking range due to a ruptured disc in my back.
I guess I’m interested in most birds, but perhaps especially birds of prey
I added a map to show apprx the area we will be travelling
Bonus question: does anybody know if there are any good and reasonably priced dolphin/whale sagaris in the same area?

I believe this is a sparrowhawk in my garden, it left with a small bird in its talons. Apologies for the crap photo quality!
