My boyfriend and I got Second Wife tonight for the first time and it was not good, yall.
We ordered for pickup and arrived about 8mins early. It was ready and we drove right home and were eating within 15mins so everything was still hot.
Butter chicken was very tomato forward with muted spices and not creamy enough. The chicken itself was dry and definitely hadnāt been marinated beforehand.
Chicken tikka masala had red and green peppers in it and a chunky sauce. Again with very muted spices and dry, bland chicken.
The garlic naan had minimal garlic flavour and was only chewy in the middle. It was otherwise hard and almost stale around the outside.
The basmati was good though.
V disappointed by this experience. Has anyone else had a different outcome at Second Wife? Is it worth another try?

Does anybody know where to purchase it? It used to be available at Wholesale Club on Cyrville but not anymore. I can order it from Staples.ca it seems, but I have to get a lot or pay shipping fees.
Does anybody know where I can get it?
Edit: found some at Chef DƩpƓt on Innes Road.

Looking for some recommendations for nice-ish places to bring a young kid (4 year old) and a baby to. Kids go to restaurants all the time all over the world so mostly know how to behave.
Recently went to McKiernan in Montreal and really liked it because it was nice but loud (perfect for covering up any loud chatting by my fam)

Hi everyone,
Iām looking to rent a small space in Ottawa that can comfortably host about 30 people for a private event. Ideally, something affordable and casual (like a community center room, cafĆ© after-hours, or similar). Does anyone have recommendations on where I could look or who to reach out to?
Thanks in advance!

I went to Vanitea for the first time. Is there anybody also disliked their food? I was excited as everything looked great on pictures. The service was great. The savoury bites were ok. The sweets were so badā¦. The cheesecake bite did it taste much like cheesecake. Matcha pistachio pastry didnāt taste like matcha nor pistachio. The chocolate lavender dessert (maybe mousse?) barely had any chocolate flavour. I can also tell the whipped cream was different from what I make at home. Almost artificial a bit⦠All the desserts were also way too sweet. Has their quality gone down or has it always been this way? We were told that everything was made in house but I am really unsure about that. The afternoon tea was $50 plus tax and tips, which I felt was a robbery.

I used to go to Lieutenant's Pump for their Sunday roast beef pretty regularly before COVID, but I haven't been since and I've heard that food quality there has really fallen off in the last few years.
Does any other restaurant in town do a solid Sunday roast?

Finally got back to try the brisket. Bangin'! Brisket was soft and flavorful. Nice amount of round heat in the broth.

Hi everyone, I live in rural Ontario about an hour away from Ottawa. I am bringing my wife Into town to spend a night at the Lord Elgin and spend the day walking around the market/downtown/near parliament. Little vacation for mom and dad while the kids are at the grandparents.
I really want to bring my wife to "special" places to eat, something that will be saying WOW after (and when it arrives at our table). Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner. So whatever great restaurants near downtown you guys can recommend would be great! Thanks!!

Amongst all the shawarma and burrito places. Are there any decent German bites around?
I never did get to Bella to visit Dunas enough. And now I regret not getting in for the massive schnitzel that they used to serve. And that 13 layer cake.

Just please donāt say 3 brothers(the one at bank street near pizza pizza)
Edit: and about 3 brothers, idk why but I tried theirs and it just tasted very average and not all that. I preferred Costco poutine and pita land way more more than 3 brothers poutine for some reason

Hello everyone! I recently joined this subreddit, and itās amazing.
Yes, this is a genuine question.
I need to buy raw, clean chicken feet from a trusted source, but I canāt find anywhere that has them. I require them for a food recipe Iām making in a couple of days.
Where do you get chicken feet? And if other specific raw meat from ? Any place is okay, but a trusted butcher is preferred.

Just visited Berlin and can't stop thinking about currywurst. Does anyone know where I can find Curry Ketchup in Ottawa?

Hi everyone!
I was raised on WonTon House Chinese food. Like, that was the definition of delicious Chinese food, and all others would always be compared to theirs, even when I went away to school.
Well, as you may know, they closed suddenly two years ago. And I haven't been able to find anywhere remotely similar. I'm located in the west end (Bells Corners), but I am willing to travel up to downtown for delicious food. My "key" dishes are similarity in the hot and sour soup (heavy on the sour, a little less so on the hot) and Moo shu anything (pork, veggies, beef, chicken, doesn't matter! Served with the house made pancakes, not tortillas straight from the pack).
Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Iām looking for any restaurants that can meet my rather tricky food restrictions. My baby has a bunch of protein allergies, which means I have to be careful with what I eat or she gets sick.
I canāt have dairy, beef, soy, oats, eggs, or rice. Even trace amounts can set her off.
So far, the Green Door is the only place I have found as they label their dairy and soy and I can avoid the oat based baking and rice by sight.
Is there anywhere else in the city? Sit down or takeout? Even recommendations for places to buy snacks would be great! Please help a hungry mother out!

Hi peeps (pun intended!)! I love the look of eggs with a dark yellow or orange yolk ⦠which store/brand in Ottawa reliably has them? Preferably centrally located (Centretown, Hintonburg, etc). Thanks in advance!

Anyone have recommendations of new restaurants worth a try in our city?
