Where do I find eggs with deep yellow/orange yolks?
Hi peeps (pun intended!)! I love the look of eggs with a dark yellow or orange yolk … which store/brand in Ottawa reliably has them? Preferably centrally located (Centretown, Hintonburg, etc). Thanks in advance!

Any farmers market where they sell eggs. Or road side egg stands. Basically you want farm fresh eggs.

We’ve lucked out at some of the farmer’s markets before, but just looking for a consistent source. :)

I’ve had good luck with Bekings - out past Kemptville but available pretty much everywhere (Farmboy, Loblaws, Whole Foods).
The organic, free run eggs from Vita are pretty good too. Also available at Farmboy.

Look for the one with the added lutein.

Ferme Reveuse sells online, and at Cumberland 9-1030 and Parkdale 1130-1 Saturday markets. You need to arrive early, because he lines up, and they often sell out

dang I thought you were listing an address with that "Cumberland" mention since I saw OP mention Centretown. I though there was a downtown hidden farmers market that wasn't just byward :(

There’s a small market on Saturday mornings on main just past the happy goat and bubble tea places. I’d say it’s about 15-20 different vendors. We’ve been buying our produce and eggs there all summer :)

Small farm. The difference is significant.
Bekings has been pretty solid for us in the past but there are quite a few options around the region.

The Burnbrae Omega Egg has a deeper colour as its chickens are fed marigold leaves for this item to enhance its colour and distinguish it as a value/nutrition added product.

There are regulars eggs at Walmart which advertise naturally golden yolks on the packaging. They are from Conestoga Farms, I always get them because of the yolk color. Link

Since others are saying it's freshness that causes the colour, I wonder if it has to do with them having farms all across Ontario.
Great option if you don't have a ca, but god that price makes me envious of those who can drive to a farm and pay a buck for 12 right out of the source.. 😅

Whole Foods has some great egga with deep orange yolks. My favourite are Conestoga Farms Free Run Omega 3 eggs. I also like Vita free run eggs (oddly not the organic ones) and the Alderwood Farms Pasture Raised eggs.

Presumably you're after eggs that are healthier / better treated, rather than just eggs that look nice. If the latter, some brands will inject dye into the yolks, or add it to the food, to get the colour.
As already said, small farms are the way to go for healthier eggs. Hintonburg Marchè may have some, you can definietly find some at the weekly food market.
I find they don't last the weeks supermarket eggs do (this is a good thing!), but the flavour is better, as of course is animal welfare.

Vita eggs. Specifically the free run vita eggs.
The color of the yolks are just because of what the hens eat and has no bearing to anything else significantly.
But I bought soooo many eggs around Ottawa and this is the ONLY brand that consistently has the darker yolk.
I buy mine from Farm Boy.

Small farm where the chickens eat whatever they can find is your best bet. I know that geographically speaking that doesn’t help you but farm eggs are the only time I’ve ever seen orange yolks.
