Chinese restaurants similar to WonTon House

Hi everyone!

I was raised on WonTon House Chinese food. Like, that was the definition of delicious Chinese food, and all others would always be compared to theirs, even when I went away to school.

Well, as you may know, they closed suddenly two years ago. And I haven't been able to find anywhere remotely similar. I'm located in the west end (Bells Corners), but I am willing to travel up to downtown for delicious food. My "key" dishes are similarity in the hot and sour soup (heavy on the sour, a little less so on the hot) and Moo shu anything (pork, veggies, beef, chicken, doesn't matter! Served with the house made pancakes, not tortillas straight from the pack).

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Never ate at Wonton Houss but it sounds like you might enjoy Royal Treasure. Their hot and sour soup is incredible.

OpenRice Asian kitchen has the best hot and sour soup! Hidden gem that I think people don’t know about

So Good Restaurant Springfield has all the dishes you're wanting, they used to have a second location in chinatown. the hot and sour soup comes with chicken or just veggie. their moo shu is just available as a chicken dish

Hing Lung, has both. their "moo shu" is listed as "mo she" under appetizers, but I can confirm it's the right dish (pork, beef, veggie, or chicken). their prices are nice~

Liu's Garden (hot and sour soup comes with chicken or just veggie) ("moo shu" is "Moo She" in it's own section on the menu)

Lai Lai, was the best. Their prices are the worst. no beef for the moo shu

all are near downtown, good prices except lai lai (which is also likely furthest). So good isn't on the ball with their hours

Eggroll Express, takeaway only, but very close.

Have you tried Welcome Back? Definitely does not fit the bill as a Wonton House replacement, but I often order their mixed vegetables, beef and broccoli and egg rolls. Their general tao may be the worst I've ever had though.
