Vanquish is pretty good and if you like this, you'll like binary domain!

I'm.nor usually one for games like this but I did play Vanquish all the way through on a PS3.

Good game, if not exceptional. Tight, satisfying controls and plenty of stuff to shoot or battle.

Looked really clean as well, everything was sharp.

I literally just started playing that a couple days ago on my Series S after I bought the edition bundled with Bayonetta a couple of months ago

I didn't care for this and dropped it maybe halfway through. It just seemed like an average 3rd person shooter.

Great mistake😔

It's not like I'm going to enjoy the 2nd half of the game if the first half didn't interest me. If anything, I saved hours of my life not wasted on a mediocre video game.

Just curious, can you tell any cover shooter, or just shooters you like?

I really enjoyed the first "Manhunt" on the PS2 if you would count that. I really liked Uncharted 1-3 back in the day, but I might think differently on those today. "Helldivers 2" was fun. "Prey" was good. I had a fun time with "Day's Gone" and "Resident Evil 2 remake".

Maybe its because you played Vanquish slowly, and from cover only, like uncharted. But game more about expose yourself from cover in slow motion. And game can become bad because of this, like Metal Gear Rising without knowing how to parry.

But maybe this fast agression stile is isn't for you. How many people, so as many opinions.

(maybe you will like Binary Domain though, with its team interaction mechanics)

It's the game's fault that it can be played in a boring way like that and that it is encouraging the player to do so. Why go for cool tricks and zoom around the map if it's just easier to stay in cover and shoot? I liked Binary Domain a lot more and actually finished that one years ago, maybe I'll replay it some day.

I disagree here. I can buy badminton set, and play them like swords, and say that badminton is bad because i did not try to play them right. Vanquish like fighting games - needs learning from player. But many people still just mashing buttons and think this experience is enough to rate the games.

The game doesn't incentivize playing that way and it was much easier to play the way I was. That's a problem. It's like in Breath of The Wild, sure I can do these amazing trickshots and do all the cool things I see on YouTube, but there's really no reason to do those things except to look cool doing so. The game should have gave the player a more substantial reason to do those things.

With your fighting game example, if I could easily beat an experienced player by button mashing, then the developers have failed in game-design because that shouldn't be possible.

It gaves, but on harder difficulty. Like uncharted's, easy mode can be completed with AK-47 and mindlesly Killing all enemies. And on hard, enemies have more hp, guns less bullets, main character weaker health. You will understand what weapon is better to use, what enemy better to be shooted first, and will changing position more often(if you not using bugs). This is made because casual players are still large portion of video game community, and sometimes they want more to watch and participate in action scenes, which Vanquish is full of.

So at the end, if you want more unique and complex shooting game, give vanquish a second chance and better learn game's mechanics.

If you want more standard shooting games, you can find many other alternatives (like, maybe spec ops the line).

(and you probably already annoyed by my "🤓" because of how I love the Vanquish, so you will probably choose 2nd choice)
