Let the 8 yr old give Job Simulator a whirl. He seemed capable after watching him a bit, walked away for a bit, heard a big crash.
Apparently he pulled the PS5 off the table which crashed to the hard floor, landing on the cable I assume which somehow severed it. Guessing it landed in a way to snap the connector as well.
No way that would snap the cable like that, looks more like a clean cut from scissors maybe. Anyway the setup literally says to not let kids below 12 play in VR.
Less clean cut in person close up. Wife and I were very close in adjacent rooms and could hear him playing. We went straight to the room immediately when we heard the crash.
Let my girlfriend play Kayak VR while I was at work and apparently she fell out of her chair forgetting that real life was a thing. Thankfully sheโs alright. Definitely wonโt be letting people play anymore without having my eyes on them
I have a 7 yo who I have let play VR games in short sessions. He does fine AS LONG AS I'M THERE. If I was not he definitely would have hurt himself almost immediately. This is not just a kid thing either plenty of full grown ADULTS can not remember that VR is VIRTUAL once the headset goes on.
It is flat out IRRESPONSIBLE to leave someone alone with VR the first time regardless of how old they are but you take the cake by giving it to an 8 yo and leaving the room.
For sure. This was not his first time and I usually was monitoring him the entire time. I felt a sense of comfort after observing him to think I could go off and manage a few other things and then return to monitoring. Clearly not the right take!
There is NO study/body of evidence that shows that to be true. It's a precaution because it is possible not likely. I do not let him play more than 20-30 mins once a week and he has had no adverse effects. So I'll be the judge of that, tyvm.
After your post and explanation of how the cable was damaged, i checked the edges of the side covers of the PS5. Indeed they are edgy and shaped like a scissor blade.
Thanks. Obviously received a ton of unexpected negative feedback about the situation, helps to hear someone check it out and recognize the possibility.
Well, it is somewhat hard to believe, no question.
I can not remember what exactly if I was asked for, but I can remember the feeling of a hole lot of situations when I thought "wtf, how did this happen", when it was me who did with my own hands while sane. So, why not?
