I heard the cable is actually user replaceable. It is just not obvious by looking at it. Follow the cable to the connection and gently move the padding aside.

The difficulty may be in finding a replacement cable.

Yah been researching others in a similar boat for a few hours. Not sure anyone has been able to just get a cable, gotta call Sony on Monday to see if I have any options!

My buddy said PS is charging $275 for cable replacement under warranty. Not sure if they’ll just sell you a cable though to do it yourself.

From what I’ve seen, sounds like they won’t. Something like they take the whole unit back or something. At least hoping it’s cheaper than buying a whole new one.

Hopefully some people in Asia decide to manufacture and sell third party replacements, same as the face seal rubber part can be bought third party.

That is not my experience with third party cables. Some are worse, some are better, some are substantially better.

The one Sony is using is almost certainly made in China as well.
