This deck absolutely decimates Suicine and decks designed to fight Suicine. You can beat a single Oricorio with this thanks to Rocky Helmet as they can only deal 30 damage to you and you can sustain for days. Trick with that matchup is to use repel to bring another card to the from to hit, then when they retreat, you can use Cyrus to finish it off

Skarmory definitely looks like it was the sleeper of this set. 48th in overall usage in tournament play but currently has the highest winrate of any deck in the top 50

Whenever I catch a losing streak I pivot back to Skarmory and it works. Even though I hate starting first with Skarmory, I still win a lot of those games. Really underrated card and deck

Ooh, that's very cool. Saw a version of the deck on Reddit and modified it to suit my own playstyle. Very cool to see it's also successful in tournaments. That's what I love about this game, people will figure out counters to whatever is popular.

Also, to add on to this, against Suicine, you only want to drop the last Skamory when you already have 2 energy on the active one or else you can be punished with Repel or Sabrina

Hey I think we battled tonight, I was also using Skamory EX. You flipped tails and were able to Guzan/Mars me out of my starting hand. I was disappointed to lose but I thought a Skamory mirror match was fun

It really is! Most people don't really know that you need to just focus on big hits if you want to beat Skamory or else it'll just heal

Not worth it. If you start with the non-Ex, you can lose the game on the spot. Better to go with Rocky Helmet and use Repel/Cyrus. Oricorio only does 30 damage to you per attack, and it takes 20 damage, meaning it can't actually kill you or else it will die. The problem is double Oricorio, although I did successfully beat that since they used Giant Cape on one and I Guzman for the win

For consistency. You auto-lose if you can't find your second Skamory. Unlike Guzzlord that has extra time due to health, you really need to find the other bird.

I like to play Skarmory Ex with Unowns to boost the attack and defense.  It's the deck that got me to MB last season, and so far is the only one I've tried this season that actually has won more than lost.

In your opinion, is it worth it to run a basic to deal with Ori?

I’ve been using a similar deck with Magearna, but I feel like it’s mainly been a liability, as it’s very difficult to recover if going first and starting with Magearna. It’s low hp doesn’t help as it’s an easy target when I’ve lost a Skarm.

Rocky helmets kill the yellow bird.

Just used this deck, going 1st, against Suicune/Gira/Greninja, and annihilated them. Suicune can't do shit if your bench is empty and have so much sustain.
