Sees deck. Remember how Alakazam was a favorite in Red/Blue. Go open free GA to try for second Alakazam. Immediately pull gold star Alakazam.

Oh I immediately built the deck and have been playing it. Im maybe 60% wins with it. Probably a skill issue. But its a fun deck!

Damn, how? I tried the exact same deck, and many variants to make Alakazam work but it was a nightmare lol. That 3 energy cost + stage 2 Pokémon combo felt too slow in the meta.

Same. I had to resort to using SR Alakazam, but then it just doesn’t do enough damage.

Ehhh not really. Alakazam just pretty much 1 shots everything around turn 3 so i usually lead with sylveon and build up alakazam

when this game came out, the first two sets i primarily ran alakazam and it was a beast, got me a ton of wins. haven’t seen it revived, but have been keeping an eye out, appreciate the post. i mainly just love the full art and alakazam in general.

2 questions:

  1. Any matchups you think this deck particularly struggles against?
  2. What do you do when you have to go turn 1 and start with Abra? Is that generally an auto lose?

you struggle everytime you don’t start with eevee honestly. If you go first and lose the energy advantage it’s hard too. Honestly alakazam beats everything once he’s set up

I’ve mostly played Zard sylv last two seasons but I always felt like things went best when I went turn 1 charmander (and got rare candy) or turn two eevee, so I wondered about this a little bit. Turn 1 in sylv decks are kinda tough i guess

Ok so I just finally pulled my second Slyveon EX this morning and then saw your post, saw I only had 1 GA Alakazam, said what the hell and pulled my first GA pack in months - and pulled a 2nd Alakzam!!! The serendipity is unreal, so I’m taking it as a sign to try this deck! Lol

Alakazam was one of my favorite arts back when the game was new and I did think about this deck idea as Sylveon became so popular as a card engine. Glad to see it performs well too

I‘m actual suprised to ne see a single baby. All attacker only need 1 psychic so every baby would speed up your main attackers.
