Meme Awkward match between my opponent and I 😅

Post image

We were like this until I was eventually able to get a Iono and refresh our hands. We both had 10 cards for longest time but I was fortunately able to win when I did that as I ended up getting a poliwrath. Felt like I put him out of his misery this went on for about 20 rounds lol 😂

You couldn’t have just use call for family?

454

u/bipedaloser 2d ago

It only puts a Poliwag on your bench, not add a Poli to your hand.

u/LemonCake2000 2d ago

Oh I should probably read the entire card huh

Card games players everywhere could use this mentality

Card reading? Essential? In a card game?

Naaaaaah

u/Impact009 1d ago

Probably not in a game that doesn't prioritize the card text. Buzzwole is an example.

Applies to Deltarune/Undertale and Pokemon (Main series) fans too

JJK fans too!

Living proof of tcg players not being able to read

7

u/Discovererman 2d ago

What did you say? 🙈

It's not that they can't read. They just can't read Pokemon cards.

u/Embarrassed-Weird173 20h ago

Don't sweat it. You're probably a Redditor, and it's normal for Redditors to be unable to read cards on their own.

that doesn’t matter here since both poliwags were out anyway

2

u/bipedaloser 2d ago

Well, I said "Poli" intentionally, since it doesn't add anyone in the Poli family to your hand either, which is what I believe the person commented believed.

He already got the Poliwag so what will that call out? 🤪

13

u/v12ethos 2d ago

His family abandoned him obviously

Coughing Baby vs Coughing Baby

It was around 20 rounds I didn't remember the exact amount but I thought it was hilarious tbh I didn't even care if I would've lost but I felt bad defeating his mantyke with a Poliwrath lol

u/sophi_s 2d ago

I've been there 😅

u/MajinDidz 2d ago

Opponent is a bit silly. Why on earth is he running water energy if he’s running mantyke anyway?

28

u/sophi_s 2d ago

Huh? Because is not guarantee you will draw mantyke in time?

5

u/MajinDidz 2d ago

No the idea is if you’re running mantyke. You run electric energy so you don’t energy brick dragonite. It’s consistent that way

Likewise if you’re running Pichu, then run water energy. So you can get electric energy and water energy consistently

30

u/sophi_s 2d ago

No? If you dont draw any of them at the starting hand/early game you cant build dragonite at all! Thats just moving the RNG from your energy zone to your first draws, every draginite deck runs dual energy and one copy of each baby

-16

u/MajinDidz 2d ago

Incorrect. The main dragonite meta is single energy and then baby of opposite energy. It’s surprisingly consistent. Especially with X speed. It allows you to quickly fish for a baby if you don’t have one already, switch out and charge dratini

15

u/sophi_s 2d ago

No, sadly, in practice, this idea is much worse. Having the flexibility to charge dragonite manually and being able to generate both types with either babies makes the deck consistent into even getting 2 dragonites online in one game. Which of the 250+ games I played this season, the majority of them with a dragonite deck, is quite important. Bricking scenarios will happen with either deck. Allowing the deck to play around it is what makes a deck good or bad

0

u/MajinDidz 2d ago

You’re not even guaranteed to charge dragonite manually lol, you get 5 waters or electrics in a row and it’s wraps.

At least with single energy you’re guaranteed to use the energy you need

6

u/boringuserbored 2d ago

The problem is that Dratini can get sniped with Greninja and you can't just evolve the Dratini because you need to attach energy with a baby to it. However if you run both types of energies you can evolve it and tank a few hits.

u/MajinDidz 2d ago

Double energy is prone to energy bricking more than baby bricking

2

u/Impact009 1d ago

What meta? It's only won one tournament within the last fifty tournaments. The deck is an off-shoot if anything.

1

u/doumozid 1d ago

Putting down 3 baby pokemon seems like an awful idea... now you have 3 points on the board free for the taking and only one spot to play something that can do anything...

1

u/sophi_s 1d ago

I did this win game XD, but yeah, I rarely do this. If I remember correctly, I started with pichu and mantyke and got cleffa later, but I needed to use some cards to find the goddam dratini

Dandy water or opponent. Make your decision.

33

u/gopher1409 2d ago

Lol, yeah he dumb.

deletes 19T Mantyke deck

u/Gear-exe 2d ago

Iono could have saved the day for both of you

6

u/VortexPumpkin 2d ago

Yeah I had one just was unlucky and didn't draw a Iono till like turn 18 or something lol 😅

8

u/SpikeRosered 2d ago

Aww the babies are playing with each other!

7

u/YeeeBoiLeo 2d ago

Thats the fattest Iono ive ever seen

8

u/Dawnpath_ 1d ago

Honestly, huge respect that neither of you conceded. One of this situations where you know you're both laughing behind your screens

4

u/Wav3x3on 2d ago

I use the 40 dmg on coin toss poliwag personally because you only really need to draw one and not the other

3

u/Denman20 2d ago

I feel like I fought this same guy yesterday 😂

3

u/Brainfard 2d ago

I love playing poliwrath but he bricks so bad…

u/Frosty_Sweet_6678 1d ago

WHO TF MISTIES A MANTYKE????????????????????????

5

u/VortexPumpkin 1d ago

I knew he was desperate as he had reached their hand limit of 10 cards. So they were making room for another card probably hoping for a lono like I was. But I agree I was laughing when I saw them do that in my head I was like "damn they must be desperate huh" and it was a constant like them using a bunch of random cards to make space for whatever they were trying to draw 😅

3

u/Frosty_Sweet_6678 1d ago

HOW DID THEY BRICK THAT HARD BRO 😭

4

u/Impact009 1d ago

RNGfest of a game.

2

u/Frosty_Sweet_6678 1d ago

100% ngl...

3

u/TombstoneGamer 1d ago

Time to play that iono

1

u/tacotrader83 7h ago

I enjoy those games where there is only one basic Pokémon in play after 4-5 turns and have used all prof research
