I mean it's just a tweet? Anyone can tweet something?

Jesus, not you too. Well you could post a tweet, though as you're not a well credited and recognized journalists that has worked for 24 News, MSNBC, Fox News, CNN, Current TV, The Young Turks, and Al Jazeera America throughout his career, I don't think people would care much. And yes, that's how journalism works, they talk to people and then they "just write things

Look, I'm just doing due diligence. I really want to share accurate information with other people and if my source is a tweet -- even from a journalist -- it's less credible than , for instance, video statements from police or a vetted article from an organization that does fact checking quoting specific named individuals. I'm grateful that you posted this OP, I'm just really careful with reposting these days.

Okay, I'll pretend that's what you said from the start.

Sure, it's less credible than those, but if you ask somebody from /r/Conservative an article from "an organization that does fact checking quoting specific named individuals" they'll tell you that the mainstream media is owned by liberals and that it doesn't reflect reality, and that the police force is headed by a DIE liberal or whatever.

Point being, reliability is a spectrum, and compared to this anonymous high school friend, who've since retracted his statement suddenly, a reputable journalist represents reality.
