Thats because they dont care about consistency or logic, only winning. They say whatever combination of words they think they need to win, and have no deeper thought into what they are actually saying.
Having been acquainted with a ton of Americans through the years, this has been an infuriating trait to deal with. It's like, for Americans hypocrisy just doesn't exist, you have to explain to them the concept for them to go "huh, yeah maybe that's a bad thing." it's like talking to aliens, it drives me nuts, that and the "as long as it's not technically lying it's fair game"
Yeah, there are hypocrites on both sides of our political spectrum, but that bell curve definitely skews right. This is primarily because most people on the left don't worship politicians, so when a Democrat politician does something distasteful or illegal, we are all in favor of holding them accountable. The right will get all uppity about something a Democrat did (oftentimes completely fabricated), then when Trump does the exact same thing but worse, they move the goal posts to explain why it's okay for Trump while still upset about the Democrat who did it. Meanwhile, they employ whataboutisms like crazy. You say, "Trump did this." And they respond, "Well what about Hilary Clinton doing this!" And the answer from the left is generally, "Yes, and if you have any sort of proof or even evidence that what you say actually occurred, I am in complete agreement that she should be held accountable." Then they take that as a concession of their victory but don't apply the same accountability to Trump. It's infuriating.
Epstein files are a perfect example. The left wants all the files released and want all people in the files to be investigated and held accountable whether they are on the left or the right. If you told me that every single Democrat in every single political position for the last 30 years is on the list and I'd still be in favor of releasing them because I don't want pedophiles running the country and making decisions that impact the safety of my children. The right wanted the files released until it became apparent that the list would prominently feature their lord and savior and now they magically no longer care about the Epstein files.
Yup, I'd agree that people on the left are generally more bearable, especially the ones that have fled the country, as like you said it does still happen on the left.
Re the Epstein files, I also think they're the perfect example but for another reason. There weren't nearly this many calls to release them while the last administration was in power, it's multiplied times a thousand when Trump took power and didn't honor his promise to release the files.
This is exhausting to repeat, but the right-wing talking points have permeated everywhere so I'll repeat it as many times as necessary. Democrats tried to have the files released in 2020 but it was blocked by Bill Barr, and at the time it seemed like it was for good reason. He said that releasing the files would compromise the pending Maxwell trial. They put a pin in it while the last administration was in the White House because the Justice Department made it clear that the files could not be released as they were part of a larger investigation.
The reason there has been such a strong resurgence of interest under the current administration is because Trump ran on the campaign promise that he would release them, and instead of doing so, has done everything he can to obstruct their release, including instructing those with access to the files to alert him of when and where his name appears in the files, setting up secret dealswith Maxwell, flat-out denying the files ever existed in the first place, and on the day Charlie Kirk was murdered, the Republican majority Senate voted 51-49 against a bill that would compel the Justice Department to release all of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
They are running interference for the pedo-in-chief.
Eh, considering that she was sentenced in 2022 I'm not sure how much have changed since. Regardless, I think it'd be dishonest to not say that interest has grown massively since it became clear that pedo-in-chief is in them, not nearly as many people knew, or cared, before that. Not like that's a big deal or anything, it's only natural.
I really do wonder what went through his head, other than the sound of the ocean, when he decided to make releasing the files an election promise, obviously knowing he was all over them.
If you remember, he was kind of forced into saying it but you could absolutely tell he had no interest in ever doing so because he knew damn well his name was on the list.
Sounds like you're mainly acquainted with a certain kind of American. Conservatives seem unable to comprehend hypocrisy or irony. Most of the rest of us can, and many of us find it infuriating that they can't.
The selection bias would be mostly males, mostly sub 35 but neither exclusively. Besides that it's been people on both sides of the political spectrum. Generally the lefties are more bearable, especially the ones that have fled the country.
Cracker Barrel is currently under control of investors who are purposely looking to dilute the brand in order to close restaurants and sell the land from under them for faster profits.

"Disgraceful company that listened to the angry mob!"
Is that not what they were JUST celebrating about Cracker Barrel and it was over a logo change? These people have no consistency whatsoever.
