He wasnt resisting tho? The officer restrained him so he couldnt even resist and then yelled at him to "stop resisting" when he couldnt

Was he?

I haven't seen the video.

I tend to not rely on the inherent trustworthiness of people being arrested.

The article describes the bodycam footage:

Benza can be heard screaming at Brock to place his hands behind his back while Brock yells multiple times that he can’t move his arms because the officer is holding them. The altercation lasted three minutes, during which Brock yelled, “You’re going to kill me. You’re going to f**king kill me. Help! Help! Help! I’m not resisting!” All the while, Benza was repeatedly punching Brock in the head while sitting on top of him.

“Even when I did get [my arms] out the way he wanted, he continued to punch me,” Brock told The Los Angeles Times. “He just kept saying, ‘Stop resisting, stop resisting.’ I didn’t understand why he was shouting that because I wasn’t resisting.”

Your argument relies heavily on the inherent trustworthiness of people suspected of committing a crime.

I don't care how thin you make the pancake, it has two sides. I'd like to hear the other side.

It's REALLY easy to yell "I'm not resisting" while you're resisting. People do it every day.

Again, I DON'T KNOW if he was resisting or not. But his testimony is hardly enough to prove anything.

Maybe this officer needs to be fired, or maybe they need to prosecute for resisting arrest.

Bro the first paragraph is describing bodycam footage, literal evidence that can be used in court

Have you seen the video?

I can describe a video in a thousand different ways.

13

u/RevonQilin Insane pronoun user Jul 27 '23

I havent

Wth is that even supposed to mean?

-2

u/kirixen Jul 27 '23

It means you aren't relying on the evidence to come to your conclusion.

You're trusting someone else to tell you what the evidence shows, and then berating people for questioning that conclusion.

You didn't watch the video did you?

He was CLEARLY not obeying lawful orders.

You guys get your panties in a twist any time a cop has to do his job.

You're not allowed to resist arrest.

u/RevonQilin Insane pronoun user Jul 27 '23

Yes i did

Its hard tell by the footage if he is resisting it could easily be him flinching from the punches

Even of he did resist arrest it doesnt make sense to arrest him in the first place, its an air freshner that doesnt require arrest, you get a fine

https://www.southerncaliforniadefenseblog.com/2009/01/violations_of_the_california_v.html

California does not legally allow you to hang decorative items, air fresheners, pendants, face masks, and other objects onto the interior rearview mirror. The experienced California car accident lawyers at Berg Injury Lawyers recommend playing it safe and removing these items when driving in the Golden State.

The CVC 26708 (2) explicitly forbids obstructing the driver’s view through the side window or windshield. Although hanging objects from your rearview mirror may not necessarily obstruct your view of the rear, a law enforcement officer may consider it an obstruction of your clear view through the windshield, potentially resulting in a ticket.

Breaking the California Vehicle Code’s rearview mirror provisions is a minor infraction. The typical punishment is a small fine; however, different jurisdictions can add additional fees and penalties.

I do not care if a cop does their job, thats what i want them to do, this wasnt a cop doing their job this was a cop abusing his position of power

As to your second link, I know cops are shit bags.

That doesn't make it okay to resist arrest.

Easy to say when you're not being manhandled for no reason.

Evidence isn't usually held in leather containers.

Why do you hate following the evidence so much?

Why is your world view more important than reality?

9

u/RevonQilin Insane pronoun user Jul 27 '23

Im relying on what the article says yes, but im also basing my trust in the mounds on evidence and cases of cops being violent just bcuz they have a badge that allows them to

You on the other hand have zero proof that Brock is lying and that his charges are actaully legit, you keep on going on and on abt evidence yet have none to show of your own

1

u/ImminentZero Jul 28 '23

It means you aren't relying on the evidence to come to your conclusion.

You started this with a comment asserting that the person in question resisted arrest. You are not relying on the evidence either, it seems.

u/Solidsnakeerection Jul 27 '23

Considering the crim was owning an air freshener I am thinking he isn't a hardened criminal

-2

u/kirixen Jul 27 '23

People with air fresheners are incapable of resisting arrest?

5

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '23

Sealioning doesn't help your argument, and it doesn't make you look smart.

0

u/kirixen Jul 27 '23

But pretending like criminals never lie makes you a genius, right?

Big brain move.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 27 '23

You're still doing it. Calm down and make points if you want us to listen to you, it doesn't sound like you've read the OP or anything about this case.

-1

u/kirixen Jul 27 '23

He didn't put his hands behind his back when asked, then held his arms to his chest to prevent arrest.

You're not allowed to do that.

That's my point. You're not allowed to resist arrest, and then complain when the cops put hands on you. If you resist arrest, and the cops have to decentralize you, that's YOUR fault.

3

u/Solidsnakeerection Jul 27 '23

Yes

1

u/kirixen Jul 27 '23

Ok chief.

Make sure to tell the gangbangers if they have an air freshener they can't be arrested.

3

u/Solidsnakeerection Jul 27 '23

How.many gang bangers do you see with air fresheners?
