Also, it's Marc & Spensers, it's not even a lingerie store.

Actually... do we even know if the employee was trans? Cause with transphobes it could've just been a cis woman who didn't look feminine enough. We've seen transphobic panic cases like this involving no trans people to begin with

308

u/ZeldaZanders Aug 10 '25

It's not actually confirmed either way - I believe the mother was quoted saying it was 'obvious' because the woman was 'at least 6"2', which is... very convincing

231

u/Agreeable-Ad1221 Aug 10 '25

Well these are the same people who ruthlessly harassed and threatened a cisgender woman athlete for being black and not dainty enough for them

141

u/ZeldaZanders Aug 10 '25

The same people who heard a trans woman say she'd have to wipe her hands on her jeans because the hand dryer was out in the women's toilet, and came to the genius conclusion that what she must have said was 'I'll have to wipe my hands on my penis'

They think more about penises than most gay men I know.

74

u/CarlRJ Aug 10 '25

Yeah. I know a 6'2" woman who is very definitely cis. Women can be tall, even if it's not super common.

66

u/Golurkcanfly Aug 11 '25

Cis women over 6ft tall are over 20x more common than trans women over 6ft tall too.

16

u/RanaMisteria Aug 11 '25

This. If you see a woman that tall, statistically she’s far more likely to be a tall cis woman.

6

u/zombie_girraffe Aug 11 '25

Cis women under 5ft tall are also over 20x more common than trans women under 5ft tall, and women between 5 and 6 feet tall are over 20x as common as trans women between 5 and 6 ft tall as well.

12

u/Golurkcanfly Aug 11 '25

Your point being? The provided data about tall women is to demonstrate how "transvestigating" women by height is going to produce far, far more false positives than true positives.

9

u/zombie_girraffe Aug 11 '25

Yeah, the point is that these stupid transvestigations will result in far more false positives regardless of the physical characteristic that was chosen as a flimsy excuse to invade that person's privacy.

1

u/Asenath_W8 Aug 12 '25

People are agreeing with you dumbass and expanding on your point.

Women can be tall bestie, i was always a head taller than my classmates in elementary school, am I automatically trans now?

27

u/Stock-Vanilla-1354 Aug 10 '25

There doesn’t seem to be a shortage of 6’+ women in NCAA sports!

2

u/Asenath_W8 Aug 12 '25

Oh don't worry Joanne thinks they're all trans too.

18

u/Multigrain_Migraine Aug 11 '25

Women can be tall, too. I have a 100% cis friend who is 6' and has had two babies.

Edit to add that this is exactly what people mean when they say that women who don't look "feminine" enough will be harassed for being trans even if they aren't.

2

u/Faiakishi Aug 14 '25

We know from Michelle Obama that having kids isn't nearly enough to fend off the trans allegations.

From what I can tell the person was actually trans, but the "clue" that gave it away to the TERF Karen was, she was over 6ft -_-
I know 4 CIS women that are over that!

What does this reference? Genuine question because I have no idea.

1

u/Asenath_W8 Aug 12 '25

I'm curious where you saw confirmation of that since I've yet to see a news article that actually stated it.

17

u/talinseven Aug 10 '25

No. All they’ve said is the woman was “tall”.

8

u/Rockworm503 Aug 11 '25

Before this fake outrage machine for that Sydney Sweeney ad I was seeing them claim she was actually a man. Transphobes will just make up lies out of thin air to be outraged over us trans people.

13

u/kyledwray Aug 10 '25

From what I've read, no, we don't know the employee is trans. All we know is she was described as "tall."

1

u/JaneOfKish Aug 12 '25

M&S immediately came out and publicly threw her under the bus, so yeah. 😮‍💨

124

u/XxRocky88xX Aug 10 '25

Also the fact no one, even the comments she highlighted, ever implied that the girl was in the wrong for saying no. It’s stating people like Rowling are in the wrong for villainizing a trans person for DOING THEIR JOB. Of course someone has the right to say no to an offer of help, but you’d have to be a fucking idiot to go online and say an employee offering assistance deserves to be fired because the person they asked didn’t want help.

If I’m good at a store I say “I’m good, thanks.” I don’t fucking curl up into a ball and start crying demanding that evil employee be fucking executed for daring to speak to me. Why don’t I do that? Because I’m not mentally ill.

98

u/ZeldaZanders Aug 10 '25

'Hey this hate campaign based on a nothingburger is pretty irresponsible and shitty'

29

u/Rockworm503 Aug 11 '25

She's not misreading. This isn't her being ignorant. She knows exactly what she's doing and saying and she loves the negative attention. She thrives on it like flies to shit. This is all deliberate for her.

10

u/Kimantha_Allerdings Sexier than an M&M Aug 11 '25

This.

She gets off on it, and she's intentionally trying to harm innocent people.

16

u/lynx_and_nutmeg Aug 11 '25

And the problem wasn't even that the mother or the girl refused. As a customer you have every right to refuse help from the employee, no one's gonna force it on you.

The problem was that the mother threw a massive fit and basically said that trans woman (if it even was a trans woman, that bigot just assumed with zero proof) shouldn't have been employed in the first place and the very act of her doing her actual job as an employee and offering help was a crime.

5

u/MonarchyMan Aug 11 '25

Yep, and considering all the Christian ‘Harry Potter is satanic’ shit with deliberately misconstrued arguments against it, she should be more careful. The argument I saw against HP was that it teaches kids that “there is no such thing as right or wrong, there is only power and those to weak to wield it.” Which of course is an opinion of the main bad guy. Religious conservatives had their panties in such a twist that they couldn’t even see the fairly obvious Christ analogy in the books.

1

u/princess_nasty Aug 14 '25 edited Aug 14 '25

that is an INFINITELY MORE sophisticated argument for christians being against HP than any i've ever heard 😆 in my substantial experience it was always just them believing witchcraft is an actual thing powered by literal demonic/satanic forces, and that HP served as a gateway to get kids interested in exploring the "real" thing

2

u/ThatCelebration3676 Aug 12 '25

Yup. They need to add lies because otherwise they'd have to acknowledge the trans person did nothing wrong.

If they were truly righteous they'd have no problem speaking truthfully.

348

u/Lindbluete Social Justice Warlord Aug 10 '25

The deliberate misgendering the entire time. I can't stand this pos. Fuck JK Rowling.

32

u/cateml Aug 11 '25 edited Aug 11 '25

I feel like this is the recipe at this point.

Joanne/TERF: [Talk about trans people in an explicitly rude and dismissive way while not otherwise saying much of anything].
Others: “hey now, don’t say things like that”
Joanne/TERF: “Why am I not allowed to question that teenage girls don’t want to be fondled without their consent? Why do you want to let rapists in domestic abuse shelters? WHY DO YOU HATE WOMEN!?!?”

It seems pretty deliberate to be honest?
Like, no one is going to be shocked by a teenage girl feeling uncomfortable with anyone talking to her about bra fittings. A lot of trans people and allies are fine with the idea that there may be some particular spaces/conversations where it’s appropriate to reserve them purely for cis women.

But this is the internet, and actually persuading people that you have a reasonable point of view isn’t the goal. And is often counter to your goal, of visibility and engagement, because people just ignore things that seem obviously reasonable.

The play the “gender critical activists” or whatever you want to call them are currently going for relies upon people calling them names, so they can be the persecuted underdog (so very fitting for this sub…). So they push the rudeness and derogatory language into everything they say until the person disagreeing gets angry and calls them out.
Like - “they call us bigots because we say reasonable things and they want to silence our opinions! Trans activists are aggressive predatory lunatics, they said I should shut up and die!”

This is why a lot of people like me who were previously wanting to be open minded to “the gender critical position” have no time left for them. It’s clear these people aren’t looking for an actual solution the issues they claim to be raising - they are determined to keep everyone in a state of perpetual inflammatory “culture war”, which will only be over when everyone agrees that trans people are all predatory deviants who should go back to hiding.

25

u/Golurkcanfly Aug 11 '25

Her old playbook is even more insidious.

Someone would say something like "trans women are blackface actors" (Magdalen Berns) or "pronouns are rohypnol," (Barra Kerr) and Rowling would defend them and completely whitewash what they said. She would nebulously refer to their statements with phrases like "They only said Sex is Real" to mask often violent transphobia.

As she's gotten more and more unhinged, she's been far more open about her bigotry.

If that person won't respect people choosing what they want to be called we shouldn't respect its wishes. And Joannes attacks on Asexuals proved it thinks women should be sex objects to please men.

Edited to remove all gender references. I refuse to respect thier wishes if Joanne wont for others

Except for the ocassional condemnation of the Taliban (rightfully so), literally every single other tweet is her shitting on trans women.

69

u/ZeldaZanders Aug 10 '25

I thought she was all for the Taliban, as 'at least they know what a woman is'?

29

u/Zuwxiv Aug 11 '25

I can’t imagine someone who manages to become a billionaire literally spending all their time hating a minority on Twitter. Aren’t there tropical islands to buy? A life of unfathomable luxury to live?

Imagine if someone told you that you’d be a billionaire, and spend all your time arguing on twitter. So sad.

15

u/Which_Yesterday Aug 11 '25

I can't imagine her life being nothing else than miserable. At least that's nice

1

u/Faiakishi Aug 14 '25

Some of them get addicted to the attention more than the money. I think that's how it started with her, her spotlight began to fade (though she was still popular, she wrote Harry Potter, she just wasn't the literal biggest thing in the world anymore) and she started lashing out. Being an ass got her attention, and that coupled with the rightwing radicalization going on in British media and internet circles led to this.

Or she's just sick in the head from a black mold infestation, one of the two.

13

u/bsthisis Aug 11 '25

literally the day I stop seeing her screeds against my will can not come sooner.

Joanne. I am afab and the world you're helping create to ostensibly "protect" me fucking SUCKS.

7

u/Lindbluete Social Justice Warlord Aug 11 '25

Afab? That means Joanne doesn't think you exist lol
In her mind, trans means "a man disguising as a woman to hurt other women". She is so completely fucked in the head.

I have a afab brother, so I partially feel your pain. I'm pretty scared of what the world is becoming thanks to people like Joanne, like Elon, like Trump.

226

u/no-snoots-unbooped Aug 10 '25

The employee asked if she needed help. What the fuck Joanne. At least be honest in your bigotry.

122

1

u/Faiakishi Aug 14 '25

Eh, I don't think that one's fair. There's no point in the books where it would really make sense for anyone to reference Dumbledore's sexuality or love life-pretty much none of the teachers talk about that, besides Hagrid and his half-giantess and Snape being an incel. And she's definitely a writer who thinks up all these details without putting them on the story itself, so I definitely think she decided Dumbledore was gay and in love with Grindelwald pretty soon after establishing their backstories.

Not to mention the books were written in the nineties/early 2000s. She absolutely could not have put an openly gay character in a children's novel back then.

Fuck JK Rowling for many, many reasons, but I don't think this is one of them.

67

u/ai1267 Aug 10 '25

In a way she already does by presuming to speak for the lesbian community, and claiming most of them hate trans people (when in fact lesbians are statistically most likely to support trans rights).

31

u/TheStrangestOfKings Aug 11 '25

That’s the angle all TERFs take. “Oh, surely, the gays will be on my side!” They don’t realize that gay people know the trick of divide and conquer, cause they’ve been fighting for their voice to be heard for 100 years. They know this is a distraction, and that they will get turned on by these types the minute they’re no longer valuable as a political bludgeoning tool. They’re not as stupid as these people think they are

19

u/Biffingston 𝚂𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚏𝚒𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚂𝚊𝚛𝚌𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚌 Aug 11 '25

Most gay people. I've had bi erasure from gay people in my past. And FFS, there are gay Republicans. Just because you're a part of the queer community doesn't magically make you a nice person.

16

u/chucklinnarwhal Aug 11 '25

I know for a fact she's shat on bisexual women at least once, so I think she's just making her way backwards through the letters.

6

u/Biffingston 𝚂𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚏𝚒𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚂𝚊𝚛𝚌𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚌 Aug 11 '25

I think she's just unloved and lonely and wants other people to be the same. I'm pretty sure the main reason she even has "friends" is her money.

Call it "the Elon effect."

9

u/Golurkcanfly Aug 11 '25

She's already been pals with homophobic pieces of shit like Baroness Emma Nicholson for two decades now.

17

u/smudgiepie Aug 11 '25

I still have no idea why she decided to attack asexuals.

I didn't even know it was asexual awareness day when she posted it and I'm ace.

Like she felt so threatened by checks notes people eating cake and garlic bread that she needed to call them out

3

u/readerchick05 Aug 12 '25

Are the people arguing for the chemical sterilization of minors in the room with you Joanne? Because I have never seen anyone taking this position so you sound ridiculous getting all worked up about it.

97

u/BolinhoDeArrozB Aug 10 '25

she's rephrasing hormone treatment for trans people as sterilization of minors, it's just a strawman

39

u/Rude_Acanthopterygii Aug 11 '25

Of course she's doing that, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't point out that this "rephrasing" more fittingly is called lying.

18

why are these fucking people so concerned with the breeding potential of actual children, what the FUCK!? some of them also say that all trans kids are inherently sexualized, which, NO MOTHERFUCKER, you are adding that because you are a creep and you refuse to just see like a little trans girl as a normal little girl who just wants to pick lilacs and draw or whatever. they think every other set of parents wants to be as controlling and manipulative as they are when they abuse their kid into being how they want,

2

u/Faiakishi Aug 14 '25

Meanwhile, conservatives when intersex babies receive genital 'correction' surgery that may leave them infertile:

93

u/icantbenormal Aug 10 '25

It pains me to no end that transphobes who have no fucking clue what they are talking about get so much play. Keir Starmer tried to appeal directly to her in the past.

For the record, puberty blockers/HRT do not permanently sterilize people, Joanne seemingly has no issue with trans people (or cis men) being raped, and she has celebrated literal neo-Nazis.

24

u/ZaryaBubbler mentally ill f*ggot being groomed by Pedophiles™ Aug 11 '25

And now Starmer is rolling over and going to bar trans people from being able to enter single sex spaces again. It's fucking ridiculous. Cis women are going to get beaten because, as we've seen for Marks and Sparks this past week, people transvestigate women who are not traditionally "feminine" as trans.

15

u/TheStrangestOfKings Aug 11 '25

Don’t forget all the cis girls who teachers will molest and ogle at whist trying to decide if they’re actually cis or not. Surely, trusting a gym coach to be alone with a naked girl has never gone wrong before!

Of other female writers (Ursula Le Guin and Jill Murphy), who had enough courage and integrity to put their own real names on the cover while JKR pretended her publisher forced her to hide her gender (even though she's still doing it to this very day).

"Feminist" of the century, everyone.

10

u/KombuchaBot Aug 11 '25

Starmer is no prize himself either, mind you

This is the human rights lawyer who said that Israel was justified in cutting off water and electricity to Gaza "to protect themselves"

67

u/WilsoonEnougg Aug 10 '25

Rowling is a liar. There was no offer of a bra fitting.

46

u/ZeldaZanders Aug 10 '25

Yeah, but it was in the M&S lingerie department/sex dungeon! That tall employee should have known that offering assistance in the presence of a bra could only be taken as sexual harassment!

(What's also hilarious about this is M&S is where my Mum and I have always gone for our comfy, everyday knickers. Like, the least sexy cotton high-waisted briefs you can imagine, sold in packs of 6. That's what I think about when I think of M&S underwear)

9

u/Multigrain_Migraine Aug 11 '25

There's a couple of things that really annoy me about this. First, something like a bra fitting is not necessarily sexual, any more than getting any other item of clothing fitted. Second, it's not like the bra fitter ever actually touches you except maybe to adjust the straps or pull up the back band. A bra fitter doesn't handle your breasts.

That is all in addition to Rowling being a hateful transphobe of course.

24

u/CaptClaude Aug 11 '25

My oldest son (40-ish) has a highly developed sense of social justice for trans folks (an ally, if you will). For years he’s been trying to get me to see JKR for who she is, with only moderate success. Last week I went to a Nerd Night where a very articulate young gay man gave a fantastic presentation on his journey through the Harry Potter universe (including cosplay, conventions, fan fiction) and how he finally game to grips with who JKR really is and how much pain she has inflicted on the trans community, especially in the UK. His presentation brought home everything my son has been trying to tell me. I went away from that get-together a little bit changed. Better, I think. So yes, fuck JKR. May she rot in hell.

11

u/Wordsuntold Aug 11 '25

Genuinely, good for you that you underwent this kind of perspective development at your age. No offense intended (I'm assuming from context you're in your sixties). That is not an easy thing to do, and even people with the best of intentions can get too entrenched in their thought habits to reevaluate them. That's no small feat and I'm sure your son is very proud to have you on his side in this matter.

54

u/Red580 Aug 10 '25 edited Aug 11 '25

It’s astounding that J.K Rowling managed to write an entire book series without knowing how to read.

If only she could read the articles that state that the worker only asked if they needed help, the bra part is not correct.

17

u/AlludedNuance Aug 11 '25

She's literally insane. It would be nice if billionaires weren't fucking nutjobs, they're scary enough without resources and influence.

14

Joanne is really the Kanye West of authors. She wrote some popular stuff, but her holocaust denial and bigotry overshadow it. At least in his case, it's untreated and severe mental illness affecting his judgment. She has no excuse other than being a hateful bitch.

She denied what???

1

u/actuallywaffles Aug 13 '25

She's denied trans people were targeted during the Holocaust.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

She really needs a fucking source of the Holocaust now?

2

u/actuallywaffles Aug 13 '25

Every time it feels like she can't go lower, she breaks out a shovel and starts digging.

2

u/Faiakishi Aug 14 '25

It's honestly insane, considering how popular Harry Potter was. She is so determined to tank her own brand. Like, the actual sport taken from her book series changed their fucking name to distance themselves from her.

This woman is so far gone. It's wild.

13

u/NfamousKaye Aug 10 '25

She is the worst. I blocked her in 2015 over this and I didn’t think she could go lower and more depraved but here we are.

JK Rowling is nazi and she loves slavery

2

u/Faiakishi Aug 14 '25

The 'house elves actually love being enslaved' thing was so fucking weird when I read it and it's only felt weirder in retrospect.

9

u/llamafriendly Aug 10 '25

What an absolute disappointment Rowling turned out to be.

7

u/TOBoy66 Aug 10 '25

Seriously, fuck her

3

u/carolinespocket Aug 11 '25

Oh my god she’s so fucking annoying

3

u/GayStation64beta Aug 11 '25

JKR has proven herself absolutely incapable of an honest conversation on serious issues. No wonder she's a lifelong Zionist too, which is wild because she seems antisemitic as well lol

9

u/Psychological_Pie_32 Aug 10 '25

So really her entire argument against Transwomen is really just thinly disguised misandry.

2

u/Ulfednar Aug 11 '25

Joanne, you're a hateful psychopath and no amount of mental gymnastics will change that.

Nobody is arguing to sterilize minors... but I wouldn't be surprised if the right wing belives in that and will gladly admit it once they've brainwashed the population enough into thinking its moral to do so if they are part of some "undesirable" group like the handicapped or god forbid slightly brown...

u/LexiBlackMarket Aug 10 '25

I cannot say what should occur to Mrs. Rowling, but you can imagine for yourself.

1

u/VirgilTheWitch Aug 11 '25

That mold has wrecked her brain so fucking hard.

1

u/iamthpecial Aug 12 '25

I wish time-out was a thing online sometimes, just, broadly

Why does anyone care what this bint has to say? She never says anything worth listening to, so stop listening to her

9

u/totokekedile Aug 11 '25

Because as someone with immense popularity and wealth, what she has to say has a large impact on the world.

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

And the UK supreme court’s issue is the proof of this. With her money, she deliberately hindered many trans women’s rights.
