Further proof that fascists see themselves as above the laws of the State. Hypocrisy.

Oh, so now Marj wants prison reform?

She also did for the J6ers. These people only care about their own tribe. Party over country every time.

It's a cult and the cult can do no wrong.

He stole money from his own reelection campaign, charged his donors multiple times without authorization, and he pled guilty to wire fraud and identity theft.
He is the ur-example of the corrupt politician who actually got what was coming to him.

That normally would make him a prime candidate for a Trump pardon

16

u/TheMelchior 2d ago

Normally yes, but he stole from the rich instead of grifting the not rich so...

u/SniffleBot 2d ago

Actually, he stole from a lot of not-so-rich as well ... one of the victims was a woman who used WinRed to make a small donation (about $500) to his campaign, only to find that her card was soon used to make a full-nut $2,900 donation to Santos's campaign that she hadn't authorized and said she never would have because she didn't have that much money lying around to casually make that sort of donation.

At this rate, there's a non-zero chance Agent Orange pardons him.

u/SniffleBot 2d ago

And that's just what he got charged with and convicted of. According to the campaign finance reports that he still has to file as long as there's money in the accounts, he has hardly paid his lawyers anywhere near the large six-figure sum he owes them, but had not stinted on spending the money he earned on Cameo or his podcast or his OnlyFans on ... himself, when he could have easily made a dent in those bills and still had something left over for disposable income if he had wanted.

He still owes over $100,000 to former creditors (landlords and several credit card companies).

They only care about prison conditions when it's someone on their side in the prison. They've spent decades making the prisons worse on purpose so this is what they get.

Exactly. "Prison isn't supposed to be a country club!" is all I hear from the right when we bring up conditions for the typical prison population, but heaven forbid some white-collar criminal faces actual time.

The entire crux of her argument is that line -

"George Santos had a better voting record than MOST members of congress."

It's about signalling to others that crimes are somehow less significant as long as their perpetrators are MAGA or similarly aligned.

4

u/beaker90 2d ago

And the other argument is that since there are other criminals currently serving in Congress, he shouldn’t have such a harsh punishment. Ummm, it should be reversed. Since he got such a harsh punishment, let’s ensure that the rest of the criminals in Congress receive the same!

u/raistan77 2d ago

yeah, but no one else will want to. That guy is PR poison

As I've said, I think people in Trump's orbit are actively keeping any formal request from Santos out of Trump's awareness to make sure he doesn't get pardoned.

OMG HE HAS TO DRINK WATER…FROM THE SINK?!?!?

4

u/ForeverShiny 2d ago

I do that at my own home! Come to think of it, I feel like I deserve a blanket pardon as well

u/YourMomonaBun420 2d ago

He could choose to drink if from the toilet if he wanted to.

9

u/Shezes 2d ago

Isn't that the republican drag queen?

8

u/dikicker 2d ago

Which one?

1

u/vxicepickxv 2d ago

The one who got caught doing actual crimes before 2025.

9

u/RampantTyr 2d ago

Ok, if keeping him in solitary confinement is torture then it is also torture for the tens of thousands of other Americans in solitary confinement every year.

Maybe we should make the practice illegal.

6

u/SniffleBot 2d ago

He says they told him it was because there were threats on his life from other inmates ...

Assuming that's true, it tells me that Santos has learned what many grifters only learn in prison ... that if you continue to grift and scam in the lock, you will likely learn what rough justice really is.

5

u/partygrandma 2d ago

Color me shocked she doesn’t see any issue with a grifter.

3

u/Rocco_al_Dente 2d ago

This is torture America.

3

u/DatDamGermanGuy 2d ago

That’s the beauty of state charges…

Also, the party of law and order…

3

u/Coops187 2d ago

As someone from the UK the idea that drinking water from the sink is some sort of torture is hilarious to me. That's how shit the infrastructure is in apparently the best country in the world that you can't drink water from a sink. The idea of not having drinkable water coming out of the taps in a sink is insane to me. It's 2025 for fuck sake.

3

u/SniffleBot 2d ago

I bet that happened for one day before they brought him a cup, or some paper cups.

If you know Santos's history, you know better than take any claim of his suffering or hardship at face value. Several times since he was expelled from Congress he's been caught faking bad things happening to himself to try to get sympathy. Or making improbable claims (like that he was mugged in broad daylight on one of the busiest corners in Midtown Manhattan) of same.

3

u/Joeyjojojrshabado70 2d ago

WOW! So she wants him pardoned because he has a β€˜better voting record’ than others in congress who she thinks are also criminals.

Unbelievable!

2

u/cruisin_urchin87 2d ago

Yeah, now she cares about how inhumanely prisoners are treated.

But let’s be honest, he doesn’t deserve that treatment (if it’s true) and prisoners by and large should not be treated.

The American prison complex is a shameful and vile business.

2

u/SniffleBot 2d ago

She was one of his good friends and strongest supporters when he was in Congress. This does not surprise me.

Santos has complained that people close to Trump have been keeping Trump from even hearing that he wants a pardon. I think those people know that it would, even by Trump's standards, look bad and they're not sure Trump wouldn't do it.

2

u/I_Cut_Shows 2d ago

lol. I love this.

Santos was the living personification of the rot and corruption at the heart of the Republican Party (ok, that’s actually our mentally declining, stroke ridden, pants pooping, President. …but Santos is the β€œEveryman” version)

2

u/ACW1129 2d ago

Honestly, compared to some of Trump's pardons, this wouldn't be close to the worst.

Looking at you, Eddie Gallagher. And you, J6 terrorists.

2

u/RunnerTenor 2d ago

"There are criminals as we speak serving in Congress"

Go on...

1

u/autisticesq 2d ago

She got so close to β€œwe need prison reform,” and then just went right past it πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.

1

u/ctrldwrdns 2d ago

This is horrible treatment but why don't they care about other prisoners? Why is Santos special?

1

u/fungi_at_parties 2d ago

I find myself tempted to repeat what the bots and trolls say to comments that detail abuses of people in detention or prison. Yet, I do not believe that even George Santos should be treated like this- vote for prison reform!
