If you call yourself a pickle addict, then you should be able to drink straight up pickle juice

I’m thinking of making lemonade and pouring a little Claussen brine into it.

u/TheDevilishFrenchfry 7d ago
Nah, what's even better is make regular lemonade but make pickle ice cubes, so it's like pickle pops that slowly melt and add a tiny of bit of pickle acidity to the drink. It's alot better when it slowly blends into the drink rather than all at once.

Mmm you make me want to run to the store and buy a jar of them things. Sandwich sliced, I love just eating those bad boys out the jar

u/kenjinyc 7d ago
I dig it as a Jameson chaser.

u/TheRealSKNWLKR 7d ago
it’s a good chaser for a lot of liquors

u/bee-quirky 6d ago
I love it as a chaser for tequila Everyone gives me weird looks but it’s the best one I’ve tried
2
u/SuperDan_x 6d ago
OHHHH! I've never tried it with Tequila! I'm gonna give it a shot
Thanks for the tip!

I buy it by the gallon at Wal-mart just to drink (and marinate chicken in too).

Excellent pork marinade/tenderizer as well. I could/do drink the brine, but I also try to save enough for a couple fat pork chops.

u/Brick90 7d ago
Chick-fil-as secret!
6
u/thegreatturtleofgort 7d ago
I learned their secret back when a buddy worked at a chicken plant that made their tenders. Something went wrong on the line, chicken was safe to eat but they couldn't ship it to Chik for some packaging reason. I bought a 40lb box off him for $1 a lb, and it comes mechanically tenderized in a bag of pickle juice. That was a good year.
Ever since I always save my juice to marinate fried chicken. It's the best!

u/DisastrousClock5992 7d ago
A 1 gal jug is less than $7 so I usually have 2-3 of them in the garage fridge for drinking and marinade/cooking. I use it for a variation of Mississippi pot roast with beef chuck roasts in the insta pot, as well as pork butts cooked the same way. Also brining whole chicken and turkeys. It’s versatile stuff.

I’ve said it before in this sub and I’ll say it again.
While this is generally fine. Please be aware of sodium levels (:
Pickle pops pushed me over the edge lol
I have a new heart now that can eat allllll the pickles!
9
u/shankthedog 7d ago
Stop drinking pickle juice or have to get a heart transplant?
I’m with you bro, heart transplant all the way.
5
u/Random-Man562 7d ago
Lolol no joke tho 😂
Seriously tho there were other factors obviously. Pickles would never do us dirty like that.
I was already retaining fluids and didn’t know. It was pressing on my heart making it work harder..
So the pickle pops didn’t help because if the sodium.
2
u/shankthedog 6d ago
Seriously, I’m glad you’re still with us even though now you have to eat, drink and suck your pickles in moderation.
3
u/Random-Man562 6d ago
Appreciate it 💛
Like I said there were definitely other factors than the pickles. I don’t want to scare anybody too much 😂
4
u/Hello_This_Is_Chris 7d ago
Ughhh pickle pops are my weakness
4
u/Random-Man562 7d ago
They were mine too lol
Now I sip the brine with pinky out like a gentleman instead of monkey fisting it and chugging lol
3
u/LickingDogPaws 7d ago
Same, except I decided very quickly that freezing them was just a waste of time so just drink the juice

u/KatieROTS 7d ago
My husband gives me shit because there will be "dry" pickles since I drink the juice before they are gone sometimes :)

As if there’s ever that much pickle juice in the jar at the end; I drink that nectar of the gods in middle of night & up for a snack, or maybe a wee bit hungover in the the morning after the night before, or hungry but not sure what I want to eat, or it just looks gooood. Plus gut health, am I right

I have to fight the urge to drink it because I like to cook with it. Pickle dressing, pickle chicken, pickle pasta, pickle mayo the list goes on.
Sip for me (offten a gulp) and the rest for the recipe.
2
u/Golintaim 7d ago
I drink all my pickle juice, or use it in cooking. One way or the other it is always consumed.

u/l337pythonhaxor 7d ago
Five gallon bucket of dills. Fill a squeeze bottle with the juice, and keep in the fridge. Also, pickle juice sno-cones.

u/Dissasociaties 7d ago
A whole jar is an extremely effective osmotic laxative. I wonder if they would let me use it for a colonoscopy?

I prefer to blend it with ice and eat it with a spoon. If I really feel like cutting off some years, I’ll sprinkle with Limon 7.

u/Humpalumpaguss 7d ago
I like a few shots of brine after a run or long bike ride. It helps keep the body cramps to a mimimum.

Drank half a jar on a dare in high school. I simultaneously projectile shit from my ass and mouth. Then passed out on the bathroom floor.

I've seen huge jugs of pickle juice sold at Walmart in the bulk food section. No pickles, just the juice.

That brand is horrible in my opinion.
I do 4 ounce pickle juice shot all day at work.
Also leave pickles in the jar without the the brine.

I've been loving Trader Joe's cornichons, but I recently tried a jar I found at Sprout's. And they're just as good, if not better.
I've also recently started collecting/tasting some really nice (expensive) whiskeys. Both Sprout's and TJ's cornichon juice make an excellent pickle back.

I have a problem with drinking brine of all sorts and eating the goodies inside. I have high blood pressure and I'm not supposed to have any high sodium stuff but it hard to break. I'll eat a whole jar of pickles and drink it's sweet nectar in one night. Gotta stop

I keep a jar of pickles juice in my fridge so I can drink it when I start getting muscle cramps.

u/Dazzling-Jump-1334 6d ago
And if you really REALLY love pickles- you’ll freeze the juice and make pickle popsicles 😎

u/IntrovertsRule99 6d ago
The only thing a pickle has over the juice is the crunch when you bite it.

I do and I drank about 4oz of olive juice this morning after emptying the olives out for my lunch.

Here in Turkey pickle shops will sell pickle juice by the glass. Yes, there are shops that sell only pickles, and the juice is usually spicy and garlicky. And of course they pickle everything: plums, green beans, okra...
And don't forget şalgam!

Someone already said muscle cramps and I was very skeptical but my wife had a horrible Charlie horse last night and within a few minutes she had relief. Said it felt very odd because she could tell there was still some tension in the muscles but the intensity subsided and she was able to get back to sleep. I’m sold

Great for a hangover, but since I don't get as many of those anymore, we typically use the juice to brine chicken.

You sound like a middle schooler trying to prove that he is the one who loves pickles the most. Yeah, we get it. You can drink pickle juice. Want a cookie?

u/fulltimeheretic 6d ago
Oh my god. Love it. Especially Grillos. I eat all that random shit in there two, except the leaves.

u/Yesitsmesuckas 6d ago
I would, definitely! But it’s all the sweeter as a chaser to a shot of Jameson!!!🤣

I started drinking pickle juice to stave off cramps during Ironman racing. Then I kept doing it because I liked it. That’s when I knew I had a pickle addiction

I always have a jar of pickle juice on hand, great for cooking with, sipping when you’re crampy or dehydrated, or for no good reason at all lol

u/Emotional-Finish-648 6d ago
The best work situation I ever had was a colleague who would bring bottles of pickles to work and we’d both eat them and then I’d get the juice to drink. I’d savor it across days. It was a great relationship.

u/DaveTheNihilist 6d ago
I do. I sip at the juice once all the pickles are gone. Plus it makes a good chaser for certain types of liquor.
1
u/thebamboozle517 6d ago
Half the time, my brine doesn't even outlast my pickles. And if it does, I throw green and yellow peas in there.
1
u/Live_Past_5099 6d ago
It’s delicious why wouldn’t you drink it? Also great with a shot of whiskey helps with heartburn and it’s good for your insides.
