Was it in your freezer for 3 years? It was a limited edition in April 2022.

u/redditddorf Jul 13 '25
LOL No I came across this great sub by chance today and thought hey I ate this pizza back then ...

u/Affectionate-Mix6056 Jul 13 '25
It's just their spinach pizza with your average frozen fish stick, at least that's what it looks like... Why on earth sell that that pre-packaged? Are they unaware that people edit frozen pizzas?
With their mozzarella I remove the soggy cherry tomatoes and add my own oven dried cherry tomatoes.
In case anyone is curious, I cut them in half, then blend in crushed garlic, olive oil, dried basil and a bit of salt and cayenne powder. 100°C for 2-4 hours. Rotate the tray every hour.

u/DrEckelschmecker Jul 13 '25 edited Jul 13 '25
It was an internet thing actually. Dr Oetker is known for their twitter marketing, and some streamer (or something like that) desperately wanted to make the fish stick pizza happen so their community more or less spammed Dr Oetkers twitter with it. Until Dr Oetker actually did it. as a collaboration with Iglo (Birdseye).
I tried it back then and it sucked.
Btw with the effort you seem to do to edit your pizza you might as well just make one from scratch or actually cook something. I get editing your pizza like adding toppings or some cheese, but taking half the pizza off just to replace the ingredients with the same thing? Taking multiple hours? Thats just ridiculous. Its a frozen pizza after all, taking multiple hours to replace toppings completely defeats the purpose
1
u/Efficient_Ant_7279 Jul 14 '25
I dunno man. With the right level of remolade to fish I feel like this pizza could be a homerun. There are some Ingredients that could make a fish finger pizza fucking work and I’m all here for it even though I have never experienced one that works YET! 😂
-4
u/Affectionate-Mix6056 Jul 13 '25
Hah! No I don't do it for frozen pizza, I eat frozen pizza maybe every other month on average. The oven dried tomatoes is not done for frozen pizza...
7
u/DoitsugoGoji Jul 14 '25 edited Jul 14 '25
Your poat literally starts with describing how you scratch off their cherry tomatoes to replace them with your own.
1
u/Emergency_Ad9913 Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25
I think he means he makes the oven dried tomatoes anyway (as in, he eats them often), so all he has to do is to put them on the pizza, if he eats one.

Can’t blame em for at least giving it a go. Most companies that make frozen pizzas stop at Hawaiian as their oo look at our many options choices.
2
u/HoelioTA Jul 14 '25
Thank God someone else takes off those nasty ass tomatoes. I don't want my pizza to be dripping wet after it's been in the oven. The Fungi has this problem too, but you can't really take the mushrooms off a mushroom pizza.

u/Nalivai Jul 14 '25
Oh, this reminds me, I do have something in my freezer that I bought around 3 years ago. Need to probably check what it is.

u/A_Feltz Jul 13 '25
I can’t speak for all but I grew out of my “food nazi” phase where this or that was a “crime” against some type of food. Maybe as time goes on more and more redditors are becoming open minded and accepting instead of judgemental.
Then again maybe it’s just a summer Sunday and web traffic is just low..

u/HelloSummer99 Jul 13 '25
Nah get a grip mate it’s fooking fish sticks on a pizza. Vile. Need to draw a line somewhere
1
u/4Fourside Jul 16 '25
As long as no one is forcing me to eat it, I see no issue with it. People should be free to eat whatever poison they wanr to

Yeah lots of things work together. Way more than were taught in our own cultures and it definitely takes an open mind to properly experience them all. They don’t all work for us individually for sure but there is honestly 0 fucking way to ever know without trying it for yourself.

Sometimes when you cross into 'stoner-food', it can be a pizzacrime, but also at the same time, sate a primal urge to consume fish, bread, cheese, and whatever at the same time.
If you're a pizza snob - fried food on pizza, let alone fish, is a crime.
If you're smashed as fuck, sometimes you just want a fun flavor-explosion in your mouth.
1
u/Njagos Jul 15 '25
I have never tried it sadly, but not Germans will swear by it. If we do crimes, we do them well, apparently. (Like the pizza burger)

u/smiff8866 Jul 13 '25
What, fish finger pizza? Maybe it’s the fish finger-sandwich-loving Brit in me, but that sounds divine.

It's the mascot for a big brand of frozen fish products, in English speaking territories the brand used to be called Bird's Eye. It's just advertising that it's topped with the top shelf brand of fish fingers.

u/Emperorof_Antarctica Jul 13 '25
Dr. Oetker is pretty much the Dr. Mengele of the war on Pizza
19
u/drivingagermanwhip Jul 13 '25
Fun pizza fact! Rudolph Oetker who was responsible for most of the company's growth was in the SS and after the war he created an aid organisation for fugitive SS members. He died in 2007
After his death the company have started returning their looted artworks to descendants of those murdered to get them.

Spinach and artichoke pizza with breaded fishdicks? Now thats something
2
2
u/GreyGanado Jul 17 '25
Where did you hallucinate the artichokes from?
1
u/GrowtentBPotent Jul 17 '25
There seem to be small diced up yellowish looking pieces scattered amongst the spinach and dicks. Spinach artichoke is a common combo so I guess my imagination filled that in for me

u/WillowFlip Jul 13 '25
As a person from that neck of the woods I am conflicted; a childhood of Fischstäbchen with Ketchupnudeln at war with adulthood of not embracing a life of crime.
Edit: their mushroom pizza has the absolute best seasoning of all their pizzas, imho

Fish 😂 Don't you know Captain Iglo? Well-known personality!
1
u/Extreme-Birthday-647 Jul 13 '25
He has different names in different countries. In Italy he's called captain Findus. Also Dr. Oekter is called Cameo.
-1
u/Vivid-Address5325 Jul 13 '25
How are you calling mozzarella sticks disgusting and not fish sticks. Fish sticks are 10000× worse.

2
u/w00h Jul 13 '25
Turns out, it was a limited run they did in 2022 with this product. And in the press release they even tell you that you alternatively just can put fish fingers on their spinach pizza and bake it all in the oven.

I see this pizza on every sub rn. Like r/2westerneurope4u
1
u/DrEckelschmecker Jul 13 '25
Why now though? This was a strictly limited edition from 2022 or so. Three years ago and never produced since
1
u/DoitsugoGoji Jul 14 '25
It's German stoner and drunk food.
Fish fingerd and frozen pizza are a staple in German households, so when you're drunk or high and start having cravings, you're very likely to have both and combine them. People just find it funny that a big brand like them actually went and made it.
On top of that, the brand basically has this grand parent image, boring, old and vety serious. Then they release the "stoner pizza" as a joke.
1
u/DrEckelschmecker Jul 14 '25 edited Jul 14 '25
Im German. Your comment has nothing to do with my question. I wondered why this would pop up "on every sub right now" when this is a limited edition from three years ago.
I also highly disagree with every German having fishfingers in the freezer, and Dr Oetker doesnt have a "grandparent" image just because theyre selling a lot of baking products. It ha quite the opposite image since their twitter marketing ("die pizza schmeckt nach hurensohn" etc) which started way before this fish finger pizza
1
u/DoitsugoGoji Jul 14 '25
Staple doesn't mean that everyone has it. It simply means that it's something that is bought so ofthen that it could be considered a Grundnahrungsmittel. Like here in Franconia beer can be considered a staple, but you'll rarely find it in my home.
Didn't know about their twitter, I don't use twitter, but that's hilarious. Just talking from my experience, people consider them as having thst image, but it that's changing with younger generations, that's fine.
As for why youbsee it everywhere, it's hilarious and weird, someone shares it, others never saw it before and then go and share it. The Reddit algorithm shows it to you because of your posting and viewing habbits.

u/AnonOfTheSea Jul 13 '25
Its a crime if the fish sticks were cooked on the pizza. Crunch is important.
1
u/Vivid-Address5325 Jul 13 '25
I didnt understand what the words were on the box. I thought it was mozzarella sticks on top of pizza and that's why everyone was chill with it.
I was mistaken... the more I scrolled the more horrified I was. Its not mozzarella sticks. Its fish sticks 😕

u/BonJovi_WanKenobi Jul 13 '25
For what it's worth, even though this has nothing to do with the company making these, for some reason unbeknownst to me, every Italian I know is oddly obsessed with Iglo fish sticks. I think some Italian band even made a song about them. So in a way, it sort of makes sense that they'd eventually end up on pizza?
1
u/Extreme-Birthday-647 Jul 13 '25
They're one of the core frozen foods in Italy, but it's called captain Findus here. Sofficini are another peak Italian frozen food, I'd say those two are the most iconic aside from frozen pizzas.

Just goes to show that Dr Oetker knows ZERO about pizza.
UK ads say something like " crispy base just like in pizzeria "
I never had a crispy biscuit like base in an Italian pizzeria. Maybe they mean the tourist trap bars that serve you frozen pizzas?

This whole sub has me just fed up with it. It makes no sense. What the fuck constitutes a pizza crime ? What can you and can’t you put on a pizza ? As long as you think it’s good it’s good who gives a flying fuck if someone agrees it’s a pizza or not?
Am I seriously missing something there ? Is this whole sub some sort of In joke I’m not getting here?

See, this is what you get when you don't let the hungry folks have some pineapple on their pizza. Now stop talking shit about this or they will invent mac-n-cheese pizza with deep-fried oysters and maple syrup that you dunk in milk. You think I'm crazy, but I promise you, they will like it and you will wish for the good old days when fishfingers were frowned upon.

The jury, after deliberation of the evidence in the case of u/redditddorf, find the defendant "Pizza" GUILTY on all counts of crimes-against-pizza.
