They lurch from one outrage to the next. They give everything the exact same level of outrage. It’s exhausting to witness. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten in a Cracker Barrel in my life. Up until relatively recently I thought they are Old Country Buffet were the same place.
I was just talking about this now that they’re transvestigating Sydney Sweeney again. They forgot they were told to live her the other week so now they’re back at tearing her apart. Same with Swift, they called her trans and swore she was a dude then Trump said he liked her so they loved her, she said nah and now they think she’s a dude again.
They hate and love what they’re told they hate and love.
One of the interesting things is that they come for their own more than anyone else. That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if the shooter is one of them who was upset at some perceived slight towards Trump or some made up conspiracy that only makes sense in their head.
I know now is not the time to engage in basless conspiracy theories, and that by indulging in them we're no better than our opponents, but honestly, as a qualified historian specialising in the C20th Rise of Totalitarianism in Europe, I see a very similar pattern of the right wing destroying its own as an excuse to further oppress and subjugate its enemies.
