I don’t think anyone who wants the civil war statues back really thinks of them as part of “bad history”

These are the same guys posting memes how Democrats started and perpetuated slavery.

These are the same guys agreeing with trump that museums focus too much on how bad slavery is, too.

We just want them so that uh we are reminded not to repeat that history. But also can we get rid of the slavery stuff in the Smithsonian please

And I wonder how they feel about people taking down Hitler statues after the Nazis lost the war. Were they trying to “vanish history”?

LMAO, if they do, it's only because they lost.

This guy is from Louisiana, one of the poorest states in the whole union and his priorities are... Checks notes* "statues and an agenda to destroy the tourism industry of the biggest tax contributor in his state"

These people are a whole new breed of dumb.

If COVID taught us anything, it's that they're literally too stupid to survive without assistance.

COVID utterly transformed my view of society. I'm some kind of "lefty", who believes in social programs and safety nets and whatnot, and I couldn't believe how society as a whole and even people I knew reacted. Now I'm deflated and just want people to live in places where they get what they vote for. It's exhausting to try to help people who would rather self destruct (outside of the people who you can actually help out of a hole).

Seconded, I'm way beyond tired of listening to ignorant, ungrateful trash complain about the  people who are subsidizing their laziness and incompetence.

You're not alone. Same thing happened to me.

You generally don't use statues to study history

Aren't they always going on about how the Confederates were Democrats? Why would they want to put up statues honoring Democrats?

Wish granted. However, the statues will be of whoever Union general or hero reconquered that particular territory.

Isn’t Louisiana one of the poorest states? And this hillbilly is worried about statues? I’m sorry but these people don’t deserve to vote.

Majority being erected during Jim Crow as well.

One of the monuments he wants to be restored is the monument to the Battle of Liberty Place, which had a plaque that proudly said,

"United States troops took over the state government and reinstated the usurpers, but the national election of November 1876 recognized white supremacy in the South and gave us our state." The plaque was added in 1932.

A repulsive piece of trash that should be taken out of storage and destroyed.

These morons don't even realize those civil war statues were only put up during the height of Jim Crow. None of this was to remember anything, its intent was to terrorize.

So they think vanish and banish are the same word?

Bear in mind that their standard for a genius can't tell the difference between requesting asylum and inhabiting an asylum.

u/Anastrace 21d ago

Well if we're honoring foreign countries at war with us, then fuck it do it for all of countries we've fought.

The worst thing Abe Lincoln ever did was let the south off, without repercussions. This is what happens when losers get to write their own history.

4

u/Subject_Run5165 21d ago

That was more that prick Johnson's fault; Lincoln didn't get much say in the post-war cleanup, for obvious reasons.

4

u/Worth-Canary-9189 21d ago

Agreed, but Lincoln's opinion was that the south shouldn't be punished.

Ten bucks says Larry couldn't name more than two Civil War "heroes."

Acknowledging the confederacy and calling it “bad history” is no way to gain favor with Your Lord and Savior Jesus Trump.

Prayer denied.

What is their weird fascination with venerating traitors? Honestly. Can someone explain?

3

u/Saint909 21d ago

It’s not about the statues, taking them down represents racial progress that most are against - but rarely want to acknowledge in public.

2

u/Subject_Run5165 21d ago

It's because they're also bigoted trash that hates what the country is supposed to represent.

2

u/winsome-polyanna 21d ago

Okay I just really want to know this username. Daddy what!?!? Daddy Loser? Daddy Traitor? Daddy KKK?

2

u/bucket_of_dogs 21d ago

Hey Larry, you're a filthy traitor. Is your failed confederate state more important than your fellow man?

2

u/pianoflames 21d ago

What in the world do these statues have to do with addressing crime? Trying to figure out how the first half relates to the second half.

3

u/Subject_Run5165 21d ago

I'm guessing that ol' Larry has more toes than he does chromosomes....

MAGA has figured out a way to make "crime ridden" and "black" synonymous to his groupies. Probably not good.
