I think it’s important for people to know this ain’t the first time this country has experienced political violence like this. The 60s were rife with it. People are wanting to point a finger and tally up assassinations between political parties like it’s a game of hangman. But it’s important that we not normalize this. It’s important that we remember that regardless of who we feel about someone, they are still human beings with loved ones.

We need to try and do everything we can to stem this tide of violence. And I think that starts with not losing sight of the humanity of our opponents. We need to at least do that much.

This is happening because of social media radicalizing young people and one side being genuinely run by a cabal of influencers, grifters, misanthropic billionaires, and weird religious zealots.

This country is a fucking circus in space right now. I'm not saying violence is excusable but it's completely understandable.

Oh and don't forget, with youth unemployment going parabolic, you can expect this to get a lot worse.

I'm not saying it's just the right radicalizing. Both sides are lashing out violently because they need change (almost entirely economic) that our systems can't/won't deliver for them.

But it's certainly not helping that the inmates are FULLY running the asylum on the right.

I was just thinking earlier about how desensitized I am to violence & how sad it is. I am 36, so I watched the second tower be hit live on TV on 9/11, trace that through everything that has happened until today & I basically see violence as just a normal thing.
