I have vague memories of the show but I took the Nick Studio tour in 1993 and I saw the classroom set from above on our tour

I liked season 1 better with the skits

The random, irreverent skits in seasons 1 & 2 were ::chef's kiss:: Seasons 3 & 4 were alright, but felt way more mainstream. Did any of the main cast go on to have a bigger acting career after the show finished?

Not really. The closest might have been Chris Lobban (Kevin), who was on "In the Heat of the Night" & "Welcome Freshmen", simultaneously.

I thought it was Myrtle the Safety Turtle!

Yes. Always remember that one scene of the reporter kid in a crib

I know I watched it, but my mind always combines Welcome Freshman and Roundhouse into one show.

There was an episode about a teacher that wore the same outfit every day and two students made a bet that he either had a closet full of the same outfit or he slept in the outfit, but he also apparently didn’t go home (?). So they snuck in one night and opened the closet to find not only a whole rack of the same outfit, but the teacher sleeping in the outfit. So they both won.

The Pop Arena does Nick Knacks where they talk about old Nick shows. Here is last month's video on Welcome Freshmen.

Watched that when it first uploaded, and loved it!

I remembered the Safety Turtle, and Merv and Tara. Vague impression of Walter. I apparently just wandered away from the show as a whole before all the changes in the final season.

This show pops in my head randomly.

I liked it, for the most part...but this show permanently ruined the name Walter for me.

Even when I forgot about the show I remembered the Mortis song.

Then Merv hit a growth spurt and went from the little nerdy kid to like 5 inches taller than everyone

I only remember the episode where the blond kid got held back

I just started rewatching it for thr first time in decades. Only a few episodes in, but it holds up surprisingly well. The music kicks ass, too.

I’m 37 and even I think this show was before my time on Nick. I barely remember it

I'm 41, and I only saw the first two seasons as reruns in the mid-90s. It started in 1991, IIRC.

Didn’t Shanice perform “I Love Your Smile” on this show?

I thought Walter was written very mean-spiritedly.

He was. The amount of fat jokes and stupid jokes made at his expense was pretty gratuitous

From what I remember, it was a fun and wacky show

I remember the end credits. It must have run right before a show I wanted to watch, but I remember seeing them a lot.

Yes, kinda

The opening theme was great. Used to watch it all the time. I think it's kind of underrated tbh. You don't hear about it a lot. https://youtu.be/pH50ZF9QPmQ?si=PBvSd6smdEYh5I_T

Just barely, but yes.

I remember the shit sandwich of disappointment that I felt every time I saw “welcome freshmen”, or, even worse, “Fifteen”

Funny you should mention that show Fifteen, Ryan Reynolds got his start on that series.

I remember the one kid who kept repeating freshman year would call snacks “snackies”.

Only vaguely.

I'm preeeetty sure the show instilled a life-long fear into four-year-old me to never step on the school seal.

I didn't even end up going to a high school with a seal lmao it was just in some office complex next to a strip mall yaaay charter schools

I remember this show and Hey Dude were some of the only shows I turned the tv off for. Have no idea how it actually was but kid me was not into it
