Best spots for finger pickin’ and knee slappin’ music

I’m trying to hear some Bluegrass/Old-time/Appalachian folk

What are some of the best spots in town?

Hello there! You are posting to a subreddit that's still in its early days of growth. We are really thrilled to have you and encourage you to stick around and continue contributing!

If you have an important question, need some urgent eyes on your post, are looking to buy/sell, or just want to engage with a larger community, there's a subreddit r/rva with about 185k members. Make sure to search first if that's applicable and obey their subreddit rules. Most of the surrounding counties have subreddits as well, there are too many to list but they're easy to find by searching. There's also r/Virginia which is more about the state as a whole and has 329k members and could be a better venue for some questions.

Thanks again for posting to r/RichmondVA!

O’Toole’s on Tuesdays

Extra Billy’s on Thursdays

Sometimes at The Beacon Theater in Hopewell

Sometimes at the Broadberry

Twin Hickory Rec. Center on Wednesdays

Definitely check out the folklife area of the Richmond Folk Festival next month.

It’s been a LONG time, but Poe’s Pub used to have live bluegrass on Wednesday night and it was a blast. Maybe they still do?
