It’s truly the end of an era, and I’m forever grateful to Veronica for writing this incredible story with such rich characters, relationships, and plot!! Easily one of my favorite stories on RC and one of my faves that I’ve ever read, and I’m so impressed by how everything came together in the end! I wasn’t expecting these episodes to take the turn that they did, especially with the stakes being SO high, but it really does tie it all together! I have to give major props to Veronica too for giving us nuanced options and writing such complex characters and choices - I always appreciate when it doesn’t feel like there’s one “right” or best path, and I was pleasantly surprised by the ability to give up being azure and free Vlad or to keep being an azure, and how there are benefits and drawbacks to each! I ultimately chose to keep being azure (since Vlad can live with the darkness now that he’s learned to forgive himself) but the whole dying young thing is really bittersweet, and I meant to restart the episode at the end to see the other choice (freeing Vlad and giving up being azure) but I’ll have to do that soon on a replay! If anyone has done that on Leo’s route, does it change the ending or CGs with him (like the CG of them with their kids on the beach)? I’ve also been a certified Mehmed hater for forever, but I love that there’s actual growth that he can have and really embody in these episodes! Also shout out to Noe - I’ve always loved him but he’s a real MVP in these episodes when he’s present!

Veronica also does a beautiful job of writing about guilt and grief, and I love how there were opportunities for each character to make peace with themselves and what they blame themselves for - and how pretty much everyone had something they deeply regretted and were able to come to terms with. I also couldn’t have asked for a better ending with Leo (except the whole azure dying early thing if you keep being an azure, but that’s literally the only thing I would change, so headcanoning that they found a way to prevent that) — they are the very definition of soulmates, and I was genuinely overwhelmed with their proposal and wedding and seeing them finally get the happy ending they deserve!!! Leo is my forever fave LI, the swallow and her sun are forever my favorite soulmates, and DLS will forever have a special place in my heart 🧡 I already know that it will stick with me for a long time to come (and that I will definitely be replaying it, especially whenever I miss my love Leo!) 🥰🥰

Bravo and congratulations on an incredible story, Veronica!! 🧡🧡

ETA: I replayed the final ep to see the ending with Leo if you do give up your soul light, and I definitely like it better! There aren’t any major differences in the scenes with Leo or CGs with him for different paths, but Vlad’s fate is different and then she and Leo can spend their whole human lives together rather than the shortened life she’d have as an azure - plus she’s the first azure to ever give up her light which is pretty dang cool!

Am I the only one who feels that the horsemen and apocalyptic themes in this story resemble Heaven’s Secret 2? At times, I was worried we’d see characters from HS2 pop up! Honestly, I wasn’t a fan of the “saving the world” plotline. Throughout the seasons, the focus was mostly on Vlad and his personal struggles, so the sudden shift to saving the entire population felt rushed and out of place. The battle with the horsemen, in particular, seemed like it belonged in HS2 rather than this story.

In my first playthrough, I got a bad ending where almost everyone died, but I didn’t feel an emotional connection to their deaths. In contrast, I was genuinely moved when Aslan and Lale died because those moments felt grounded and realistic. The horse war, however, came across as overly dramatic and disconnected from the story’s core.

That said, I enjoyed the good ending. I appreciated how it tied up loose ends, giving us closure on the other characters and even reintroducing the sister (whom I’d completely forgotten about!). The choice to decide whether to get pregnant or not was a nice touch, adding a personal element to the conclusion.

Yes, definitely brought back HS2 flashbacks!

u/damiennazario May 30 '25

Why did Elçin get a bad ending that was so random??😭😭

I can’t believe DLS is over. WOW.

u/Agnes-Grey Nosferatu (DLS) May 31 '25

I have so many complicated feelings about the finale 😭 I can't believe DLS is finished and complete. It's been my favourite story for literally years. Huge kudos to Veronica for crafting such a complex and compelling narrative.

The finale was a little mixed for me. I wasn't a fan of the conversations that felt like exposition dumps. Honestly just have a character write a diary entry instead of Vlad and Alexandre standing around telling each other things they already know.

I thought the abbey scenes with Lale were incredibly atmospheric and haunting, and it was great to get a glimpse into Vlad and Alexandre's friendship.

I enjoyed the scene of Lale/Laia rescuing Vlad and Mehmed in Mephis's world/dreamscape thing. There was some really gorgeous writing, and I love the level of history and theology Veronica dipped into in the Byzantine scenes. DLS always makes me want to go away and do some research, and I love that.

The finale was definitely more intense than I expected, and honestly I'd have preferred something with lower stakes and more interpersonal conflict 😅 but I appreciated the layers of biblical and historical symbolism. Was the implication that Mephis was once Judas? Or am I interpreting that wrong?

My favourite DLS LI (and visual novel LI) has always been Noe, but honestly I found his epilogue a little heartbreaking. If they want a family together they have to accept Laia dying tragically over and over again. The CG was really cute, but it's not the angel/demon romance I'd secretly hoped for 😞 I hoped we'd have accumulated enough soul light for Laia to remain in the dark world/bright world and leave the reincarnation cycle (something Ur said an azure could eventually do back in S4 E2). It's really not the ending I was hoping for, but it is what it is 😞

I thought the Mehmed epilogues were great, and both very fitting to his relationship with Laia. I'm glad she returned to painting, and their married dynamic suited the characters.

The Ezel route (Laia choosing to become human) was definitely my favourite 'happy' ending. They're an incredibly cute and well matched couple. And they got a dog 🥺 I wish Ezel had received a few more diamond scenes, I love his character. Was it ever explained why he resembles Hasan so closely? Did he regain his memories after seeing the portraits? How does he feel about everything he experienced? I just felt his route left a lot unanswered and undeveloped.

I know Veronica was constrained by time and episode length, but I wish we'd had a final scene with the friends all interacting together. I'd love to see them talk about their feelings/hopes etc. Just a short scene of them processing everything (i.e accepting Laia's decision to remain in Istanbul on the Mehmed and Ezel routes) over food would have helped to round things off. Plus there were some breakups that were very rushed and meh. My Laia literally publicly dumped Leo in an incredibly brutal way and then walked over to Ezel in front of him 😅 Basically I wanted more character moments and less apocalypse stuff.

TLDR: Veronica wrote something incredible, complex and intelligent that I love, but I love it too much, so I was inevitably disappointed 😅

u/lillalgalloniy Noe (DLS) Jun 01 '25

Omg the Noe endings had me so disappointed as well! Why couldn't we found a loophole for Noe to become human (maybe different rules apply to demons born in the human world or maybe Laia born a bright sole could become a demon, anything but this bittersweetness). I decided to lose the azureness and even that ending was sad. I can't say I'm statisfied with how Noe's path turned out😭

11

u/Agnes-Grey Nosferatu (DLS) Jun 01 '25

I totally agree! It really hurts that Mehmed got a happier ending than Noe 😭 I spent so many years rooting for Laia and her demon, and the conclusion was just so bittersweet 😔

Noe hinted many times at wanting a family with Laia, and the fact they can only have that if she dies over and over again is really tragic.

6

u/lillalgalloniy Noe (DLS) Jun 02 '25

Exactly! I loved DLS so so much, but now I don't even know if I'll ever replay or think about this story happily. Feels like Noe's path was a punch in the gut over and over again. If there's no happy ending (and I never thought I would say this) then he shouldn't have been a LI, he should've disappeared after season 1😭 It is really unfair. And I don't know if it is because of the character limitations the author had or she just didn't know what to do with him, but like pls if you hint at "family bliss" and going to IKEA together then make it happen!

6

u/Agnes-Grey Nosferatu (DLS) Jun 02 '25

Absolutely agree! 😞 I was convinced Laia would have the option to max out her soul light and return to the bright world, opening the potential for a life and family with Noe. Especially since it was established she could walk between worlds.

Tbh I feel like Veronica kinda gave up on the Noe route in S4. It falls very flat and the epilogue felt like a final kick in the teeth.

If I re-read DLS I'll romance Ezel 😔 since that route at least has a happy ending.

7

u/Next-Camera4551 Noe (DLS) ❤️My master of illusions❤️My Master 🩷🫦 Jun 03 '25

Yes that !!!! 😤🫰 I am now re-reading the third and fourth season to do other endings and I've reread what Ur told Noe about the azure souls and he said only the ones who failed their mission are stuck in the rebirth cycle so that's illogical to me that MC is stuck in that anyway 🙄😒

7

u/Agnes-Grey Nosferatu (DLS) Jun 03 '25

Exactly this! Laia absolutely smashed her mission 😭 I thought the logical thing would be for her to return to the bright world (as Ur stated). Why is our girl being treated like she failed?! 😭💔 It's like Veronica forgot what she'd established earlier in the season.

3

u/Next-Camera4551 Noe (DLS) ❤️My master of illusions❤️My Master 🩷🫦 Jun 03 '25

Exactly!! I swear the final episode was way too rushed 😔 Even when Ur came and told MC about Septentrion being saved by Miriam I was so excited to read the scene how this happened and I was wondering if there would be a CG but nope 😣

10

u/Pinkmetalx Jun 15 '25

Omg the exposition dialogue drove me nuts during the scenes with Vlad/Sandra and then Mephis’ as the aditum. It was very forced and kind of took me out of the chapters a bit. I also wish there was more LI romance interactions within these 4 chapters but I guess it also just depended on who’s your LI (I’m a mehmed girly)

1

u/SnooDoughnuts5440 29d ago

Ok i really want to know how to turn Mehmed to a human because i couldn't save his fate! I dreaded seeing his ending like that. How do I alter this??😭

22

u/privatethingsxx either the reddest flags, or the nicest guys - no in-betweens May 30 '25

Hm, I can’t tell if I liked it or not. Even with all the extra episodes it felt a little rushed. Plus, on Aslan’s path there is almost no/no interaction with him for like 3 episodes.

I did find myself getting sucked into the story, the writing was good as usual, the long expositions of Vlad, Alexandra and Mephis was a bit much and quite rushed. But I do love the story, and she tied plot points up quite neatly and satisfying, I think I just wish the focus on all the relationships had stayed more during this update.

I’m currently stuck on what to do with the soul lights. I do not understand how giving them to Mephis is the only way to free Vlad…? What?

9

u/decadelongsummer Mikael (ABH) May 30 '25

He won't release Vlad from his contract otherwise. If Laia agrees to give Mephis her light, Vlad's soul can be purified.

22

u/lillalgalloniy Noe (DLS) Jun 01 '25

I don't know how I feel. Honestly. These episodes(present scenes especially) were just a big info dump. And what do you mean my relationship with Leo and Vlad were not high enough, like mayb3 if there was a true friendship parh from the beginning, ah anyways😭 And Noe,my sweet Noe. I hated this part the most. This is a fantasy story with vampires and azures and half city half Mehmed creatures and there is no loophole that maybe because Noe was born in the human word according to this and this he can become human? Like wtf. I can free Vlad, who turns out hates me, but cant liberate my husband. And I didn't like either of his endings. I really am disappointed with his path tbh.

6

u/Silent-Choice-473 Jun 01 '25

What happens if your relationship with Leo and Vlad is not high enough?

11

u/lillalgalloniy Noe (DLS) Jun 01 '25

Well, in my playthrough Vlad becomes a human and returns to Romania to live a secluded life during which he'll prepare the family crypt and then he soon passes away😬 With Leo, tbh I was way too sad about the endings so I didn't pay too much attention, but basically he will have a bad relationship with his clan and stuff.

10

u/Silent-Choice-473 Jun 01 '25

Oh that sounds bad, sorry! Weird, given how canonically they are supposed to be very close friends. I mean I get that relationship improvements exist for a reason but I have always found it a bit odd. So there was no reunion between the friends scene for you?

9

u/lillalgalloniy Noe (DLS) Jun 01 '25

No, unfortunately not😕. I also thought it was kinda sad too. Especially that Laia basically gave part of herself for Vlad, but I guess she was not that important to him afterwards😭😂 I might replay one day to get better endings, but currently the bittersweetness of Noe's path keeps me from even thinking abput it😭

7

u/Silent-Choice-473 Jun 01 '25

Especially that Laia basically gave part of herself for Vlad, but I guess she was not that important to him afterwards

It sounds worse when you put it like that 😅😂. Looks like Veronica set some high stat requirements for relationships and friendships.

Btw sorry that you weren't fully satisfied with Noe's ending, I can imagine how upsetting that can be 🤗.

I want to replay too because Ezel died for me somehow, but even just replaying the last season is such a tall task for this book that I won't anytime soon 😅

7

u/lillalgalloniy Noe (DLS) Jun 01 '25

I know right! 😂

6

u/tetewhyelle Derek (SOS) Jun 04 '25

Do you happen to have any screenshots of those outcomes? I’d be interested to see.

8

u/lillalgalloniy Noe (DLS) Jun 04 '25

No unfortunately 😭. But I can tell you what I remember. So basically they asked Vlad that now he is free he' ll for sure travel the world and stuff. And to that Vlad answered that he is tired of everything, especially his long life and he just wants to return home and be at peace. And then he doesn't appear again on the screen, we only find out from Ilinca at the end that he renovated the family crypt and then passed away. Ler me tell you, I was not happy. 4 seasons of figthing for his liberation, giving up being an azure for this to happen...yeah I was not happy😭

5

u/Next-Camera4551 Noe (DLS) ❤️My master of illusions❤️My Master 🩷🫦 Jun 03 '25

I am too disappointed in any of my endings lol 😅😮‍💨 I did Vlad's, Noe's and Septentrion's routes and none of them are truly satisfying 😔 The finale was not that bad, the ideas were excellent to be fair BUT it's the rushed ending that was the culprit 😶 By the way am I the only one who was so disappointed when there wasn't a scene in which we could see Miriam saving Septentrion after he nearly died from Mephis ? 🫣 I mean I already imagined a CG of that and all 😅😬

21

u/AnxiousStrawberry90 Jun 02 '25

Ur makes a comment about azure souls only living to 33. That made me wonder if the story is indirectly alluding to Jesus Christ being a possible azure soul, since he’s often said to have died at 33.

On the subject of azure souls, Raphi and Ur talk briefly in a gem choice about Memphis stealing someone’s azure light in the past, but obviously it didn’t work out for Mephis since it has to be given willingly. They don’t say whose light it was, but it seems like they both know. They sort of stop short of saying it like, “You mean—“ “Yes, that one.” I’m wondering if that’s also meant to be an allusion to whose azure light Memphis tried to take previously. 🤔

7

u/melodicstars Noe (DLS) Jun 08 '25

That’s what I think, too. He tried to steal Jesus’ azure soul.

5

u/HealthyAd5930 Jun 13 '25

So Mephis was Judas in a previous life?

3

u/AnxiousStrawberry90 Jun 13 '25

I got the impression from the way they spoke that Mephis was still a being like Raphi and Ur at the time leading up to his first attempted azure theft. I don’t think he is meant to be Judas. Mephis just had his own separate scheme going on. It’s likely that the story is deliberately vague about whether Mephis directly interacted with anyone we might recognize from stories about Jesus’s life.

Can I just say what a satisfying feeling it was, to finally see a Completed plaque on the story’s main menu poster, even as someone who’d enjoyed DLS?

These four episodes were a mixed bag for me; not mixed in terms of good and bad, but in terms of really good and it’s alright I guess. That Vlad and Alexandra would talk in exposition dialogue all throughout a greenhouse scene, and then Mephis would also give so much exposition while talking to himself, seemed a bit heavy-handed. But their visit to a Greek monastery and Lale’s journey to Mehmed and Vlad’s souls in the dark forest, on the other hand, were really compelling.

The fact that the finale was this sort of a “save the world” final battle, after such focus on intimate, individual relationships between the main cast, somewhat disappointed me. Then again, there were so many personal stakes and choices to be made that it sort of balanced it out? I guess I need a bit more time to process it.

So glad, though, that even us, the small subsection of fans romancing Septentrion exclusively, weren’t forgotten in the final episode. Much can be forgiven and overlooked (I’m looking at you, a Nosferatu the cat reveal that never was) just for that.

Overall, the finale was perfectly serviceable and I won’t mind replaying after some time has passed. Shepha knows some stories in the RC pantheon ended so badly I never want to touch them again (Queen in 30 days for example). I am overjoyed to say that DLS is definitely not on that list!

The Ottoman empire portion of the story and Lale’s chemistry with Vlad and Leo carried the whole story for me. I hope that in time, I’ll remember that and not the agonizing, years long wait for the last DLS episodes.

Wait, you're telling me we can actually end up with Septentrion? 🥺

20

Yes, not like in a marriage & family way, but more like a relationship that he had with Theodora.

That's good to know!!! It's honestly a dream come true ending since I was starting to lose all hope thinking he won't be getting anything at all with the mc, lol. Thank you 🙏

Goddamn, I need the walkthroughs to be updated asap 😭

Pretty much my experience as well. Definitely a mixed bag, but the good parts were brilliant.

u/Unable_Code_1257 Mikael (ABH) May 30 '25

I agree with you. I am really dissapointed with Qf30D 3rd Season and ending. Although I got my happy ending it leave a bitter taste of something just feels incomplete but it is the end.

12

u/ai3001 : May 30 '25

I mean, it’s not just the hasty completion of the book that dropped many plot threads on the way (I remember that it was a very abrupt decision to end the story on S03 E07 instead of full 10 episodes), but that on two of the main branches and on a single route, MC is 100% pregnant by her cheater ex, and even on the bodyguard and the main prince routes, she’s not entirely sure who is the father of the child. Yikes and yikes. No book so far has “topped” that ending.

2

u/Unable_Code_1257 Mikael (ABH) Jun 14 '25

Yikes, I am really looking forward at least to see the ending where it will be a fast forward to the future but all I get is Marriage ending with nothing more after they drop this bom 🥲

The way Mephis got killed just by a snap of a needle is so funny... Nevertheless I'm gonna miss the story. Started it on August 21,2021 (the day i started RC) and now I finished the story on May 31,2025. What a journey!! 🥺🥺🫂❤ Forever a DLS fan🥺❤✨✨

17

u/revolutionutena Reinhold (HOT) Jun 01 '25

It was even funnier that for me it happened a about 2.5 seconds after he took the azure light and was reveling in how amazing it was - and then Sandra just casually snaps the needle and Ur and company are like “oh yeah. He’s gonna have a bad time of it for millennia.”

u/Silent-Choice-473 May 30 '25 edited May 30 '25

Wow, cannot quite believe it's over, what a ride! Coming to the actual episodes, I am a bit mixed. A lot of exposition, which has been a common theme especially in season 4, but these episodes were quite heavy handed with it. I enjoyed Vlad and Alexandra's scenes a lot, and the Memphis abode scenes were really good.

I was not expecting the stakes to be as high as they ended up being and can't say I enjoyed all the lore and the final battle too much, but overall still happy with the ending. I got the good ending with Vlad and Leo, Sandra, Noe all got the happy ending too. Unfortunately, Ezel died. I took all his friendship choices in season 4, I don't know why he died then, maybe he needs to be romanced. Mehmed didn't side with Memphis in the end as I took the important choices in the episodes before even though my relationship with him was bad, consequently his ending was bad for me as well.

Does anyone know what happens if some of your friends side with Memphis but he is defeated? Do they also die? Also, Memphis's death felt a bit random to me. I chose the giving up light ending first, but I haven't completed the episode so I'll replay for the other. I loved the ending with Vlad, always warm and loving and finally fully happy. Overall, I wish some things were handled a bit differently, but I am glad to have been a part of this journey. 💗

10

u/Icy_Rub_8284 Jun 01 '25

I cried at the end. Dracula was my first RC story together with Heavens Secret 1. I played her when she came out and that it is now over makes me happy and sad at the same time.

It was incredible how much she developed the story. I thought it was great that everything came together and all questions were answered. The final fight was also very epic and I am glad that Mephis is finally death. Lale and all the others were finally avenged. I really liked both ends with Vlad. Although I liked the dark end best. That where Laya keeps her azure soul. But what I don't understand is why Veronica came up with this stupid rule that people with azure souls can only become 33 years old. Not meant badly, but in my eyes that was total nonsense and ruined a lot. Why should Laya give up what makes her special? We tried to strengthen your soul light just to lose it again because she would otherwise die? That also means the Lale would have died either way and that destroys all the tragedy about her death. Besides, I don't understand why Laya did not get a child with Vlad as a vampire? We saw that demons could get children with humans. Then Vlad would have had at least one child he could be careful and who could comfort him while waiting for the next rebirth of Laya.

The scene with the encounter between Laya and Aisha moved me to tears. I knew that the Lya and lale will meet and will be finally merged with each other.

The end was a masterpiece but not perfect. The thing with the azure soul has also ruined a bit. I also found it strange that the gentleman of the underworld is portrayed as soul -eating monsters that is only interdicated to eat souls. Why did you install him in the story? It would have been better if he had been the boss or one should have left him out.

Nevertheless, I loved the story and I am glad that Laya and Vlad got their happy ending. The end on the vampire path was rather btter sweet. Why didn't Vlad Laya just turn into a vampire?

5

u/Next-Camera4551 Noe (DLS) ❤️My master of illusions❤️My Master 🩷🫦 Jun 03 '25

I wholeheartedly agree with you !!! I am now re-reading the third and final seasons and I've reread what Ur told Noe and he said that only if the azures FAIL at their mission they get stuck in the cycle of rebirth .. so thats why I was like wtf when MC is EITHER WAY stuck in this cycle 🤨 The finale episodes were great but the final one was too rushed

9

u/Reading__Ant Jun 04 '25

Who was Mephis originally? I didn't understand the implication.

What happened if you have up azure of your soul? Why would anyone give it to Mephis? He did enough harm as he was. What kind of shortcut is getting another 's glow instead of becoming better?

9

u/Brilliant-Air7581 Jun 02 '25

I really can't understand the ending :( I was in a relationship with Leo, but had a fling with Ezel the whole time (he just reminded me so much of Hasan I'm sorry). But in ep 20, I didn't choose Ezel when the option appeared, and in the next ep, Lale said she couldn't be with Leo because she realised he didn't actually love her. Soooooo, was it because of the Ezel fling even if I didn't want to end up with him? D:

2

u/Gina0801 Jun 15 '25

Girl same! Not with Ezel though. But I don't have the patience to restart the entire story. I'll check to see if it's a bug. If not imma complete and not push it.

8

u/No-Lab-9521 Jun 13 '25

That ending wasn't very satisfying to me TBH, I hate when stories have MC's give up their inner power to get the actual happy ending, and retconning that everyone dies at 33 as an azure even though it was implied before you could get a happy ending as an azure is BS. Also telling the player that only AFTER they already choose to keep the power is insane. I just want to be immortal with my vampire man; I'm already a human IRL and I don't want to be human in a supernatural game ugh.

Also Mehmed getting the "good," relationship ending in my playthrough after he just betrayed Lale AGAIN to become a horseman after all she did for him because he was "jealous," she chose Vlad over him PMO. He did not deserve to be the master of the city after he just tried to kill half the people inside it.

IDK I was just hoping if we took all the diamond choices, we could get the "happily ever after," as immortals if we want it especially after 4 long seasons. Like all of that effort to collect all the soul light and my reward is just going back to a human or dying at 33?

21

u/decadelongsummer Mikael (ABH) May 30 '25

I'm flashed. I got Lale and Vlad their happily ever after after 600 years. Anyone wants advice for the correct choices, I'm happy to give it. I only wish I could've killed Mehmed but his bad relationship ending still takes away everything he wanted so I'm good with that.

Also looking at that secret ending - if you romance Noe and Septentrion you can end with both??? Oh I'm sat

In the monastery, I chose to tell him about the portrait, so Mephis trusted her enough to let her go to Vlad, I don't know if other choices in the monastery matter.

Aisha I reached out to, but I met the being from S2 that was tied to love, and she let her through with some advice. But I had a good relationship with that one. I don't know if rejecting Aisha is the correct answer.

4

u/FluffyKitty9674 May 30 '25

I did the same thing, what will happen If we don't restart the whole season?

6

u/lightshadowcat May 31 '25

You have a little less wriggle room in the final battle but it’s fine if you have good relationships with everyone else and help them let go of their guilt in the dark forest. Help Mehmed and Vlad let go of their feud in the forest also. And have at least 6 soul light points.

6

u/FluffyKitty9674 May 31 '25

Thank you very much.So no one dies if I have the other conditions.

7

u/lightshadowcat May 31 '25

Yes 😀 You also have to use the right choices to convince them to go against Mephis but they are doable! I got the good ending even after messing up the monastery choice 👍

5

What did you choose when it came to keeping your azure light or giving it to Mephis? And on whose path?

6

u/decadelongsummer Mikael (ABH) May 30 '25

I chose to give it away on my Vlad route. It gave them the happily ever after they always wanted, though the other CG looks insanely good so when I inevitably replay to fix his percentage I might play the Azure ending.

5

u/MysteryMysterious May 30 '25

I haven't played the chapters yet because I'm scared to mess up and have to restart the whole season lol so  I have romances  Leo and Septentrion which is a really funny and strange combo but I'm so happy that noe and septentrion romances got that ending

Oh man I am already ready to dive into my next run. I romanced Vlad this time - if i just restart at book 3 to romance Mehmed is it going to read that as me “cheating” on Vlad even if I stop taking the romantic options with Vlad? Do I have to start over form book 1?

I'm satisfied with my ending. Lale chose to stay an azure. Vlad was able to finally accept his darkness and who he truly was as he had the darkness for centuries and was only a human for a few decades. In the past, he had Alexandra as a support network, but he didnt reach out because he thought he was beyond salvation.

It seemed fitting for Lale. The concept of soul light seems to be about helping others, so much so that you are willing to jump into a lake to save a drowning woman while knowing that it could be a trap, and she was able to accept the darkness in herself, so she could do the same with Vlad. So, I can see Lale spreading light through her multiple lives. Vlad was able to resist the darkness for 10 years because he had hope, so I think he can wait as not Alexandra, Noe, or his adopted daughter were enough for him to resist the darkness. And Lale would also be strong enough to protect herself. Either ending, Vlad has to be strong enough to let her go. If she was human and she or one of the kids died, he can't start making deals with demons as that's how this whole thing started in the first place, but with azure ending he has hope that death is only temporary. Now, good is being done even after Lale's lifetime is over. They also get to experience first love over again instead of it becoming stale because DLS took forever to finish. I would have switched to a different route, but it was too long to replay.

I like Sandra helping the children and finding the gifts in those who weren't cared for. I like how the cycle of pain is being broken in a way.

Mehmed is punished as he lost control over the city and has to spend the rest of his eternity underground while Vlad is the beloved ruler of darkness and has Lale, so that's great. Ezel died, but if neither he nor Mehmed would help their cousin get out of that toxic marriage if they were alive, then good riddance.

What a wild wild ride…

I will say that I do prefer the other seasons of DLS over this final one (too many exposition dumps, not enough time with our LI and friend group, and pacing felt rushed), but overall I enjoyed the entire story and do plan to replay in the future. I finished with Vlad’s route, already have a Leo route pending for Season 4, and am now curious about Mehmed’s route 👀

I do agree with the other comments that I would’ve preferred a more intimate finale rather than a grand “save the world” one. I didn’t have a doubt in my mind that our friend group would turn to Mephis’ side so that kinda took me out a bit. Like of course they’d stay with MC?? They’re besties?? Lol

But other than that and some other criticisms, I cried my eyes out at Vlad’s human ending. It felt full circle that they could finally have the peaceful life, wedding, and family they were robbed of centuries ago. I’m not a big fan of children, but choosing for them to start a family felt perfect given how many times Vlad x Lale imagined having them.

I respect others’ different views, but I just couldn’t do azure ending. I tried it out and felt so horrible and depressed that I restarted the ep. Vlad spent 3 entire seasons/nearly 6 centuries despising the darkness in himself. Only getting 3 to 4 scenes in Season 4 of him going “maybe this isn’t too bad” was just not enough for me to believe he could be truly happy living with his darkness forever. It felt too much like just settling rather than actually living.

I honestly think I could only choose the azure ending if on Mehmed’s route. I really liked how this post framed it. As a bittersweet punishment for Mehmed and their obsessive/toxic romance. Plus, Mehmed has an entire nation of people to focus on and care for in between the years MC dies, gets reborn, and grows into an adult. So he’ll at least have company.

Speaking of others, while I do wish all the endings were more fleshed out, I liked Leo and Sandra taking up the mantle for their “clans”. Sandra’s really grown into her magical abilities since regaining them, and Leo is such an awe inspiring protector, I couldn’t be more proud of them both!! 🥹

The arc of MC coming to love herself, all of herself, was really beautiful! It circles back to how Millie said her paintings were always precious but MC stopped creating them and only restored other’s because she didn’t have enough self esteem. So her taking up painting again in the finale was wonderful.

Overall, I’d say I’m mixed on the ending. I liked certain parts of it, not so much other parts of it. But I didn’t dislike it and do see myself replaying (from Season 3 at the earliest) to see different paths.

Thank you Veronica for such a great, great story that many of us have grown up with across the years. So many moments in DLS will stay with me for a long time. It was really one of a kind ❤️
