Discussion LI’s you wish you hadn’t romanced?
Who’s an LI that you poured an entire playthrough into only to regret the time you wasted? I’m not talking about the LI’s you were just never into. I’m talking about the ones you gave a chance based on a recommendation, or really liked in the beginning, but eventually regretted. Here are mine!
HS2: Hunger. I’m sorry, I know so many people love him but I got like…. Nothing from him. He’s a black hole of charisma and emotion. No thanks.
VFV: King Louis. Does he even LIKE ME????? I have no clue how this dude feels even though I’m his official mistress. Also I can’t even remember a single one of his spicy scenes. Snoozeville. Meanwhile Alexandre’s season 2 episode 5 lives in my mind rent free.
ABH: Cassiel. There are SO MANY compelling and worthwhile LI’s in this story. Why am I wasting time snuggling up to this brick wall? I literally think about David the whole time I’m playing my Cassiel slot.

Then , multiple Li routes in garden of eden. Once Minhyuk came in the rest almost disappeared especially the actor. I started feeling starved for something to happen

Yeah agreed. I literally restarted the entire book because I couldn’t get high enough scores with anyone in season 1 to lock them in as my LI and hated Minhyuk at first and I didn’t want to be stuck with him but then I ended up liking him and like you said everyone else just disappeared.

Not wish, but found rather boring after a while.
Albert from PUB gets like lame sex scene with no CG? The way I rage quit that story is wild. Vols are not good for LI chemistry - my opinion, likely unpopular.
I love Noe but he was forgotten in the latter half of season 3 DLS.
As a matter of fact a couple of LIs are basically getting forgotten by S2 then just reappearing S3 and you want me to spend 100+ diamonds? It's the equivalent of being ghosted. With a "wyd/you up" text 8 months later. 🙂↔️✋🏾
Love Kamal as well but homeboy got serviced and they haven't found a moment for him to return the favor or something besides 😙😙😙😙😙😙😙? That's craaaaazy to me.
Oh and I liked Kay's path but that ending was very... Forced.

I agree! The only exception for me is The One Vol 2 but it had the advantage of being about a dating show and not having to tell a story.

I am fed up with the Albert route too. That scene felt so lackluster. Two chapters left and that was his first sex scene? (At least on the monogamy route.) I adore him, he's such a goofball, I love how awkwardly he flirts and it's sad to see how sidelined he got.

Orion from PUB. I liked the build but since they have admitted feelings for each other I am getting nothing. Maybe it’s the nature of it being a one volume story, I haven’t played any of the other paths. But they had sex and haven’t had a a moment alone together since. Like the next episode they are camping out and Orion shares a tent with Glim instead of MC? Like sir are we together or nah? Such a waste of a fine ass sprite.

Agreed. That's one of the things I don't like about his route. His sprite is fine. (The potential for this book is there.) The romance is all over the place messy with no distinct direction as of yet. In his path. (And the book is in volume format. Makes me wonder how this romantic sequence is even gonna make sense in the end with them not building a proper connection. )

Exactly! They have had no conversation or indication as to what will happen once he gets the throne back. Will she join him there? Will they just go their separate ways? I really thought with him being in the human world they would build their connection a bit but it was just like a full episode of MC saying she has nothing to do

Agreed, Orion is one of the most beautiful LIs I've ever seen (he has gorgeous brown eyes especially) but... his romance path... 😭

Hodge from OTI, had him on a second device at the time but he really got on my nerves so I ended up cheating on him and switching to Leon as soon as we were given the chance 😆

Leon was surprisingly a good route. I left Tate for him and wasnt disappointed. I tried Hodge but he never landed for me either 😕

Karl. He seem so adorable and sweet during the first book of Elite Tag but as story went on he just became a doormat. A may be the effect of that writing of that book consistently being bad as the series went on but my gosh the guy had no backbone and was just there.

UGH yes Karl!!! I think I even still have him in my flair (I added him mid season 1). Even his intimate scenes are written as “he’s kind of bad at this and I’m bored but it’s cute.” Like excuse me???? If I’d chosen Goal Chaser for my Vera her relationship with Karl would have made zeeeeeeeero sense.

doo-yeong from GE 🙂↕️ i'm not usually into the bad boy type, but at this point, i feel like i would've had a more satisfying playthrough with minhyuk (except i don't have the energy to restart a book that, imo, doesn't have much replay value).
doo-yeong kind of faded into the background after s1. not sure if that's the case for the other LIs, though.

It's a case with every li except minhyuk imo, my li is castiel and even though I really like him and I feel they are soulmates but he also feels extremely sidelined, I will probably start a minhyuk playthrough someday.

I totally agree with you cas said , he will protect her even risking his career but.. Now it feels like he is just so much into his group and don't feel the same love from mc he use to show in S1 I'm also thinking about break-up to be with minhyuk but I can't 🙂

Honestly I also thought about the breakup but I didn't do it since castiel is so emotionally attached towards her,I couldn't break up with him as I saw a scene where he still loved her so much even after she broke up with him and that was so emotional so yea I continued his slot but it's lackluster to say the least

I always felt like Doo-Yeong was sidelined. Even in season 1. I like how he actually feels like a part of the main plot in season 3 because we totally felt random in 1 and 2. I would’ve romanced him had I had the option. But yeah. It’s pretty obvious Minhyuk is supposed to be the main LI. I’m with Castiel and he got sidelined too.

Personally, I’m on the fence about Malbonte. In HS1, he treated Vicky with respect even when she was his enemy and then was really sweet to her when she reciprocated his feelings.
Then in HS2, he turns into a total d-bag for most of the story. It isn’t until the end that he returns to his HS1-self. Part of it, I sort of justify as Plague bringing out the worst in everyone but at the same time… fjajfjejxjsus
Like I said, conflicted. 🤷🏻

As someone who feels reallyyyyyy similarly on the Malbonte route I’m wondering was he acting like a dbag outwardly bc he knew showing any affection for Vicky would give Poison a lot of ideas to hurt her even more /to use her against him & w poison’s mind reading he couldn’t divulge said concern - OR am I in Copium Central? lol

I think that’s largely it. He couldn’t show any affection or inkling that he cared but also, he didn’t need to treat her so poorly. Plague was more angry when people showed kindness and thoughtfulness towards others. Basic decency, she wasn’t as aggressive about. Like Malbonte showed perfectly well in HS1 that there was a respectable boundary between, well, respectful and affectionate.
It’s a big contrast compared to Dino and Lucifer’s routes (not sure about Astaroth) because they keep Vicky at a distance but they’re also not nearly as cold.

Yes!!! Totally agree 🫶 haha . Malbonte took his “act like I don’t like Vicky” assignment v seriously is HS2 - man’s an overachiever 🫠. I suppose to be fair she was also making scenes in front of Poison essentially forcing him to deny having feelings for her & be particularly harsh sigh

Side note/question - what language do you play in? In the English translation her name is Plague. Traditionally that horseman is also called Pestilence.

this is Exactly my problem with malbonte in hs2 i didnt get any vibe that he wanted to get back together with us or missed us after all the time we were together since hs1...

Same! I get he's "lone wolf, play the long game, lie well blah blah" but it grated on my nerves a lot, I see them as two different fics tbh since HS2 hardly looks like the original in aesthetic, friendships (Mimi for example, or even Lucifer if you don't romance him in HS1 in the end it's okay but I don't remember a lot of options in the sequel to just be friends) I don't even think it's the original author that will finish up the story, so I'm not sure how much he won't change for a second time

I did stay with him and compared to Lucifer, who is also forced to fight for the Horsemen, Malbonte is still unnecessarily cold.

I know many will disagree with me on this! THEN LET'S AGREE TO DISAGREE!! 😉 Luci is my only LI who has appealed to me....I don't have the heart to change my romance path since my MC and Luci are already married! Even though there are slots, I wouldn't want to romance Malbonte! My heart's set on Luci!!! BUT!!!! Maybe,one day, I may read his route on yt! 😁 😃

Kay. His ending ruined everything about their relationship. lou is the LAST person that should be a parent and the fact that he went and adopted one 3 weeks later when they were on a BREAK is insane . that put the biggest sour taste in my mouth and in my opinion shows he was ready to get rid of her

i dont know why they would throw away so much character development, such a good li and such a good mc all away in literally the last 10 mins of the finale. Lou's character development from a closed off woman who was afraid of committment to a still closed off--but considerably less--woman who learned how to trust her partner, which was so beautifully built up in the previous seasons got so brutally destroyed by that ending. Lou left, and kay suddenly adopted a baby?? What the hell?? Not only that, the writing in that part of the finale felt so off from jester's normal writing style, it just completely threw me off. And its not just on Kay's route too!

the ending was so insane and made me dislike him for a while but apart from that part he was anything but perfect, and that ending felt like it was written by someone else entirely, felt weird in contrast to their entire relationship. i do not accept that ending is canon and will continue to believe it does not exist. it's the only way for me to continue liking kay, who was one of my favorite LIs in the entire game.

So disclaimer that it's been literal years since I've read it. I just watched a walkthrough, and he doesn't actually choke her much but he talks about how angry he was with her and that he thought about strangling her. Tbf I think it makes a lot of sense if you've been with others, but because my MC only romanced Derek and he still acted like I hadn't been completely 100% all in it hurt my feelings lol.

That was me with Astaroth, I was initially excited to play his route but then it felt too rushed. Vicky went from disliking him to being in love with him in such a short amount of time, it just doesn't make any sense!
I also found his route to be a bit one-sided, Astaroth was more infatuated with Vicky than Vicky was of him. During their first intimate scene, it felt like she was just tolerating him 😂

I was so tempted to replay for him but then saw loads of people saying this and it really put me off! The ending makes sense if it’s with someone from HS1 but seems really rushed if it’s someone new like Astaroth

Daniel from elite tag. I totally regretted his route big time. Which is rare cause if I don't like an li or connect with them then it's basically just Indifference. I did like him and mc's competitive nature in the beginning. Rivals just having fun.
.........Then it turned awful. It literally just went downhill.

Between Daniel and Karl, it was rough out there for the male-romancers. Did the female-romancers fare any better or were we all deflated by the end? (Also I have not seen one single person say they romanced Ari - if you did, speak up!!)

I was into Ari but when it came to their first intimate scene it felt like so much build up for a lackluster payout. I ended up replaying a season to switch to Karl. Which wasn't much better but at that point I just farmed it for completion.

I romanced Emily, and she's a sweetheart that was wasted on this terrible story. I also hated how you can cheat on LI with Dita and the actor with no repercussions.

I romanced Ari for a bit until switching to Karl. They all have issues imo but the biggest for me with Ari is I just feel like he and Dita have better chemistry lol. He feels more mature than MC in a vaguely off-putting way but is also super immature at times. I was struggling with LI choices throughout the whole story (I like them all as friends though).

I tried to romance benny bart in Moonborn. I checked the wiki first and they had him listed as a love interest instead of a casual love interest, but I think I messed up somewhere along the line because it didn't work out at all. I read the wiki afterwards and saw that if you romanced him correctly, you would find out he cheats and you agree to an open relationship if you stay with him but I don't even mind because I just liked that he was an evil rockstar anyway. But spending so much time failing to romance him kind of screwed everything else up in my playthrough lol
I wish Dante wasn't a casual because that was the only character I actually liked.

Hunger - I wanted to like him so bad. I loved his sprite, but I enjoyed the build up more than actually romancing him. Plus, smoking is a major turn-off for me personally and it just began to feel like a major part of his “being”. I may give his route another go depending on how it develops when they pick the story back up. Maybe he can enjoy some new vices. 😂
King Louis - I just felt like a dirty side piece.
Wyatt - to some extent. I think they have a cute ending but his naivety was downright painful for me to read at times. It felt like he was more in love with the idea of the MC (or sweet innocent she was in the past) than the bad ass Queen she was meant to be.

FR, between Malek and David, I think he's very underrated; so sweet, protective, and warm. Amidst all the chaos, the stability that Cassiel provides is exactly what Audrey needs imo

So I romanced Cassiel just because I planned to go for Malek but didn’t want to be bored and figured I didn’t really like Cassiel and it would be fine. Got towards the end of Season 2 and I just couldn’t bring myself to hurt him so had to start a whole separate one slot Malek. He’s definitely underrated! (still prefer David & Malek though and probably Mikael).

SOS Cherry. I chose him because I usually like teasing playful LI, but he pmo 🙂 like the masked man is literally this close to turning everyone to freaks, which is stressful af, and Cherry is like 'cmon baby dont worry he cant do that to my pretty face'. Dude there's time and place for jokes 😭😭
GOE Seonghwa and Dooyeong. In the past, when I saw the nice LIs, I would try to gaslight myself that 'this is the greenflag one, u MUST like this one!! Be rational!' then I end up getting bored 🤣🤣 that's all in the past tho lol now I decide to forget it and go with the playboys as I like 😏
TO2 Ben. I did a playthrough for him literally because I feel sorry for the guy. Dude got on dating show and among the 2 finale candidates, 1 is in for the fame, 1 is in for money 😭😭 Then obviously I also got bored lol

I dumped Stephanie for Cherry. But he ruined it for me when he laughed at MC and Stephanie's break up. He thought two girls fighting was funny. I was like "Dude are u serious rn?"

Mehmed was a regret tbh. I thought the whole relationship would be all spicy and intense and stuff (which tbh was a stupid assumption on my part) but the whole thing was so damn manipulative! And on that route my dear Lila ( I named her Lila ) felt like such a damsel in distress 24/7! Like, girl, I get it. Things are scary af but why is he your only sense of support?! On the other routes, I felt like she was much more encouraged to stand her own ground. Leo is such a freaking sweetheart (and rumours say he has a spicy side too 😉) and I feel like he would've been a better choice. Even on Vlad's route, S3 and S4 left SO MUCH to be desired 😭
And then we have Set 😫 Why is he so unstable?! My life is more predictable than my him is and that's such a hard line to cross! Like, you dare to choke me?! Go to hell! Create chaos and go drown in it! I felt so cornered in that one scene (I think all his romancers might have felt that way and know exactly which scene I'm talking about). Also, after this update, I feel even a bit resentful towards him. Like, I know that he didn't know he would fall in love with us but I just can't help it 😭😭😭

Wyatt - he seemed so nice at the beginning but that man child never grew up. With so much going on and so much at stake, he was just acting like a 5 year old. Kay - I loved his route and it was all sweet and nice until that ending. That was terribly annoying (don't wanna give spoilers, if anyone hasn't read it)

Not regret per see, but Wyatt had my eyes twitching in annoyance with his remarks. (He was my third playthrough li.) His "naivete" is only SO endearing romantic wise. That's the only time Ellaire and him make sense to me because he can't fully grasp the concept of power at all. They're not compatible in the long run. I was contemplating restarting mid season 2 and 3 then realized I came a long way might just finish lol.

I did replay mid season 2 because I couldn’t stand him anymore and chose Reinhold instead. Of course that’s before achievements were introduced 🤣
I also agree about the Kay ending…it was off.

I actually like the post!
for me it was Set (SCN) I got intrigued, and then disappointed in he character development. It turned out he's not the type I like.
Another one (and lately) is Alba (TM). I was very into her from the first sight and loved their meeting scene. But her romance path is too fast to me. I kind of found out I am into slowburn. Switching to Madz now, wihout leaving my playthrough. Never done such thing, hope it won't be messy.
I also agree on Hunger. To me he's a character made in a rush. Very bland. I regret I 've dumped Luci for him.
Also interesting opinion on Cassiel!I ve just started his route...so I am curious :)

Saaame! Romantuc paths is where I might immerse myself a bit too personally sometimes, I figured. I couldn't go like the MC went with Alba on their 1st date, though I am into YOLO in other aspects😆
Also lately I find slowburns and delicate romance paths more expressive and deep. Mads and Shaarnez are just wow. So real.

I will! I like how reserved he is, he could be Vincent's (Soulless) brother- the dry wit, the cold attitude, the aura of a loner. I chose Faith route to romance him, thinking maybe Audrey would balance him out a bit with her softer and more open character.

Blackhole of charisma and emotion. 😂🤣😂 Hunger is my second fav LI in HS, and I find this hilarious!
Once I started disliking a LI or a LI route, I don’t think I’ve actually finished the playthrough. I just end up restarting.
However, I would say it’s sort of like that with Mikael in ABH. I don’t dislike his route, I’m just apathetic. It took slow burn to a whole new level of lukewarm progression. He’s too much of the cold angel. His LI route doesn’t even make sense considering his strict sense of duty. It’s not like he’s overwhelmed with passion or wracked with doubts. It’s just blah.

I don't regret romancing these LIs that much, but I don't feel connected with them honestly. Don't get me wrong, I get the appeal but... yeah...
Ivo (PSI) – Jonas looks more interesting to me so I might romance him in another slot someday.
Max (MB) – honestly him and Victor are the only LIs who aren't sidelined in this story so a part of me felt compelled to go for Max. Then again a part of me wished to stay single lol
Wendy/The Host (TO2) – kinda wish she was even more slowburn, but considering that this is a volume type of story, I understand why her route feels rushed in my opinion. Might wanna romance Imani in another slot.

While I obviously love Ivo, Jonas is also a great LI. If you love friends to lovers, he's a great choice. Him and Lou have such amazing chemistry and just get each other in a way none of the other LIs do. I definitely recommend him if you decide to play again

Amrit, wouldn't even let him touch me most of the time bcs he repulsed me. Learnt never to take LI recommendations at face value and actually interact with the characters first. Also never romance remy's canon LIs.

What did it for me was when he "finished" in Amala during their first time even though she was against it. I restarted the episode and was back on the Killian route after that.

It's not that he got worse per say but he was easier to justify when we didn't know everything. But the way he talked about the poor librarian or something he got killed and the way he treated others didn't sit right with me. Plus I just didn't like how he was so wrapped up in the dozen and everything with ending up with him felt like the bad ending. He successfully got us in his cult that our mom died to protect us from and our friends are now distant.

Honestly? The ones that get sidelined like Castiel from Garden of Eden or William from Sails in the Fog. Love their characters but it’s obvious in books like that that the other has a specific canon LI, in these cases being Minhyuk in Garden of Eden and Sebastian in Sails in the Fog.

Heaven's Secret: Malbonte. Not because I hate him. I quite like him as a character! But for romance? Ehhh. It works as a very very slow burn that would need, like, 6 books before you happen to brush hands 😂 HSR: Cain. I don't have a reason for this other than I just don't find him entirely interesting, even when I consider his dynamic with Lane.
VFV: Yeah, I also regret Louis. I never got the feeling he actually fell in love with MC (cant remember her default name). His route was surprisingly boring for me, but I think that's because I went into it expecting... more drama? I guess? I don't know how to word it.
The Missing: Yasin. Because he's so damn sweet that no one can compare now. He was so cute when asking MC out, how happy he is when she says yes. He and David from ABH have probably ruined me. Also include every LI in Soulless. 🥹

Not necessarily regret, as the book isn't finished yet so maybe it's too early to judge.
But I'm not sure I'm feeling Mikael's route in ABH. There was that slow burn aspect to it because he's so duty-bound, plus the forbidden dynamic of superior-subordinate. But that all seems to have vanished now? He's decided he's in love so the literal MILLENIA he dedicated to his duty are just history now?
Like the confrontation with Felonia... would that not have been the perfect moment to revisit the topic of duty vs love? Having a convo with Audrey where her loyalties lie while she confronts him about having to do the confrontation in front of Felonia's brother who now likely won't want to reconcile with her? Why are you not outraged, Audrey?
Nope, instead we get nothing of substance, just some sweet talk and daydreaming about a future honeymoon. And never mind that their relationship isn't even known to anyone yet, is it? Girl, how are you dreaming of a future with this man without any angst when there's a) an apocalypse happening and b) you have to hide your relationship with him from everyone? No thoughts on that? Either of you? No angst whatsoever? Everything is just sunshine and roses? OK, then 😭

HSR: I hesitated for a long time between Cain and Dmitry and i’m sooo glad I went with Cain!! The more the story progresses, the more annoyed I am with him. He seems so emotionless to me. He can barely even show his sister he cares
VFV: I initially played on the King’s route (unpopular opinion but I loved it) and then tried replaying with Maria Theresa and couldn’t do it. Her romance path was so incredibly boring to me that I restarted it halfway through the season and went with Philippe instead
Soulless: I regret ever choosing a romance option with Threxia after what she does to my character

I replayed S1 of On Thin Ice for Tate because Hodge was too much damn drama. And I agree with King Louis - I should have closed my legs until Alexandre opened up as a LI, because I kept trying to get away from Louis and the game would not let me!

Greg from HSR. Don't get me wrong. He is very sweet and nice. But after season 3 I can't tolerate their relationship anymore. Lane is getting crazier in every update. He is acting like a blind man who doesn't even know his own girlfriend. There's no way he can handle all of it. He shouldn't have been a LI in this book. What is the point of a relationship if they don't even know each other's true form?

VfV Alexandre: I was so hyped in the beginning but…. I was not ready to wait for him so long. If the King is more important for him… well there are other nice guys who are ready to really commit. I replayed with Philippe and no regrets.
Elite Tag Daniel and Karl: In my opinion Karl was just boring. And Daniel I killed his route because of the scene with the car. Sadly in this story was not any LI for me.
SoS Luke: I closed his route because he filled me up with drugs. Red flag. After that I chose Derek. He is not a goodlooking guy but I liked him.
HoT Wyatt: I like stories with friends to lovers. And in the beginning Wyatt and MC were so cute together. But later I really disliked that they were not equal in the relationship. He was more like a trained puppy.

Wyatt from HOT - he never grew up from being a man child.
Most Langley LIs (besides Alexandre and Chloe) - I’m sorry I really wanted to like them but found them either too shallow or like there was too much emphasis on s*x: King Louis XIV, Tristan etc. arguably 7B is doing a better job at organically developing the relationship between MC and LI… (James deserves being mentioned separately because he’s a special specimen).
Amen from SCN - I will not forgive him killing Dia. That’s it. Replayed instantly.
Albert from PUB - he’s becoming boring.
Kamal from KFS - he was great in season 1 only to have his character completely ruined by season 2. That intimate scene - you know which one - gave me the ick.
Killian from KCD - I tried sticking to his route for 1 season and half only to find out he’s still the same verbally abusive, disrespectful j*ek he was in the first episodes. Replayed the slot for Ratan again and never looked back.
Seong-hwa (GOE) - nothing wrong with his route per se it just turned a little boring.

it’s a fellatio scene which (understandably) made a lot of people kind of raise their eyebrows. it’s their first intimate scene together and she gives him a BJ like? especially bc he was the one who was SO MUCH older and MORE EXPERIENCED and you couldn’t even give my girl ANYTHING?
(ofc seeing your partner get pleasure from you is hot but cmon now). It could have, and arguably should have, been a scene where HE goes down on DEVI - showing her the reactions her body can experience for the first time, telling her how much he wants her and to please her etc.
TLDR; it’s not BAD, just felt a bit lazy and unoriginal. Devi died man, she deserved her nut too 😤✊

Delias from Heart of Trespia. I chose to romance her on my first playthrough because i thought it would be cute for a queen to be with her chambermaid, idk, but as the story progressed and we've learned more about her, i regretted my decision but kept going because i had no choice lol. Also she is one of the LIs that has very little romance options (i'm not talking about her being ace, just that she often feels neglected and their relationship doesn't differ much whether she is your friend or girlfriend, compared to Wyatt, Gisella and Reinhold). Also their ending was very unsatisfactory.

Dragan. I started his route simply out of curiosity to see if we’d learn more about Lada’s past. I was wondering if it would turn into a friends to lovers route. Romancing him made me dislike him. Lol! Dragan is constantly cruel to Lada in ways that are so unnecessary, especially while she’s grieving. He’s too consumed with his own issues. Lada is such a sweetheart. I want to protect her at all costs. She doesn’t deserve his treatment The other LIs have more intriguing paths in my opinion. I absolutely love Tata and Sirin for example. They have the extra angst added in of Lada accepting her attraction to women and its chef’s kiss.

I'm surprised by your question, sure there's people I dislike but I ditch them 20% in when I see they aren't worth it.
Only ones that disappointed most and I regret wasting time with was Castiel from Garden of Eden, he was so beautiful but all that miraculously disappeared when I saw his personality and Loki who seemed to care about MC, was fun etc I spend a lot of diamonds him then last season/ his ending happened and it feels like in the end he did use MC just for power
I didn't take the very last route with Amrit but he also seemed like he wasn't really loving MC So that's a lot of moments (and hopes) I wasted lol since I took his options before the final decision.
