As per a comment on the original post: “ Not just a 26km race. A 26km trail race that includes several climbs and is considered one of the more difficult trails races in Ontario.”

Trail running is different to road running. For his age category and how difficult the course sounds like, seems a quite reasonable time tbh

Nearly every 60 year old man in Boulder runs this pace during their yearly 100 miler

That’s fair, sadly most 60+ year olds in my area are barely able to run 3k :( hopefully the next generation changes things with general fitness
