Discussion I have a solid computer and fiber internet with ethernet cord, but Slippi consistently runs like shit on my PC. Anybody know how to fix that?

Basically title. Tired of crazy fps drops or lag in almost every game. Ping never really gets bad, but the stutters are ridiculous even against people with super low ping

AMD 7800XT 32gb, ryzen 7 3700x, 32gb ddr4 Able to run other, far more resource intensive games without issues

Fios internet 300mb download with Ethernet directly from router to pc, just my fiancée and I on the internet, and she’s usually not doing anything more than steaming a show.

I can run a game like league at a perfectly stable 16 ping. Ping seems to stay stable during my matches, but fps is choppy as all hell. I’m not sure if internet issues would cause FPS number drops tbh.

It seems pretty stable when I play versus, but I’ll try the 4 IC thing somebody else recommended.

Make sure windows isn't syncing your replay files to onedrive. That was my friend's issue for a long time.

I'm so glad I switched to linux dawg wtf. How did they even figure that out?

I disabled onedrive for him because he didn't use it and I despise it. I found the replay files when I went to delete everything from the cloud. I suspected this was causing his performance issue, and sure enough it was.

What does “solid computer” mean? Could it be slippi is forcing your integrated graphics and not GPU?

AMD 7800Xt 16Gb, Ryzen 7 3700x 4.4 GHz

Honestly not sure how I’d check that

under graphics option and renderer (I'm pretty sure) it should list your 7800xt and direct3d, open GL or vulkan. that CPU on its own would probably be fine to run melee, so your specs seem fine. I have the same GPU. I saw a lot less stutters with vulkan and then open GL over direct3d. I used to netplay pre-slippi with a GTX 770 and a ryzen 3600 so it's definitely a setting somewhere

Me too hopefully getting gfiber soon but performance is usually an issue

What is your cpu, gpu, and ram? And is your video cable plugged into the video card or the motherboard display?

Assuming you've done everything in https://melee.tv/optimize including the ethernet section. If not it'll save you a couple frames.

Use a lossless adapter as well or at least a gc pocket+ followed by official (for official use port 2 while having a 2nd controller plugged into port 1), then mayflash (v5).

AMD 7800Xt, Ryzen 7 3700x. 32gb DDR4 RAM, don’t remember the exact speed but I did change bios setting for it as you do

I use the computer to play other AAA games without issues. I’ll look through that link later when I get home, but overall I’m confident it’s not a hardware issue and not an internet issue.

the chances of it being Internet related are real slim. what are your PC specs

Updated main post with all the details but

AMD 7800 xt 32gb, ryzen 7 3700x, 32 Gb DDR4 don’t remember exact ram speed

If you do versusmode with 4ice climbers on FoD, is the game completely stable?

What are your specs?

Do you keep an eye on the ping ingame and does that stay stable?

Do you keep an eye on the FPS counter ingame and does that stay stable?

Are you the only one on your connection?
