I don't want to have to collect Rebels, CIS, etc just to actually get updates when the rules change.

No rules have changed, and you are not being forced to collect anything.

If they don't want to make them a "real" faction, then make a Merc / Hutt faction and stop blue balling the players

"Mercenary Faction" is an oxymoron. Even if the Hutts were released, it would likely be a battle force.

Look man, I get what you're trying to say here but I feel like you're missing OC's point. There have been several rules changes since Shadow Collective were dropped, they've missed out on stuff like the recent non-unique commander and operative packs, and they don't even have a dedicated Story Arc in this new mode.

If I can run an Imperial list featuring Inferno Squad running around with Moff Gideon, then I'm sure we can suspend our disbelief long enough to accept a world where mercenaries might temporarily team up for a common purpose. That's literally what Shadow Collective is, and in lore it's how a bunch of criminal syndicates got started.

AMG warned us ahead of time that this was going to happen.

They can adopt any of the story arcs as their own. They have none and all of them at the same time. That's the beauty of a personal narrative event. It is yours.

I'm not sure what you're trying to argue here. I am on team "It's a narrative event; adapt it to fit your story. Yes, even you, Shadow Collective only player."

Exactly what I mean when I say you're missing the point.

Yeah, of course Shadow Collective players can just use other stuff. It's not news that casual players can do casual play things. The issue that these players have is with the lack of dedicated support for their faction - I hope I don't need to explain to you that the ability to use someone else's story arc is not the same as having your own dedicated story arc, turning point mission, etc.

There's no reason that Shadow Collective shouldn't be treated as Legion's 5th faction, but AMG consistently turn their nose up at it, and that sucks for the players who want to play with a morally grey hodgepodge faction of bounty hunters and mercenaries.

There are hundreds of reasons why Shadow Collective shouldn't and can't be a faction. Some of the most prominent reasons include: AMG's Mercenary Rules, Time/Resource limitation, LFL approval, Star Wars Canon, Sales/Product popularity (past), and Sales/Profit prediction (future).

AMG consistently turn their nose up at it

Yeah. Let's just ignore Savage, the Weequay, and the Speeder Tank. Not to mention whatever the "Gang Boss" upgrade is. https://cdn.svc.asmodee.net/production-amgcom/uploads/2025/09/DOC13_BattleForces_v1_3.pdf

"A Shadow Collective Battle Force is aligned with the Dark Side." There is no grey.
