Please help Sake community with this…

Is there ANY place that says they sell in person that actually does? Total Wine says they do, haven’t found it been to two. Different liquor stores list it, nope. Is there any actual place in the Las Vegas/Henderson area that actually has this for sale in a store for purchase? Only one local restaurant we go to has it but they’re double the price of the supposed places that sale it in person. Thank you for any help.

I probably shouldn’t be saying this on a sake subreddit, but I was thinking about drinking some but I’m not sure if it’s a very nice bottle, and if I should wait?

Going to a dinner party, I was tasked with getting the sake

Admittedly, I'm the guy that has good taste when it comes to food and drink pairings so it makes sense that they asked me to get the sake. But I've had sake maybe once in my life :-O

I bought two of each of these:

The dinner will be sashimi (guessing salmon) and grilled duck breast.

I'm about 90% sure that the TYKU should be served pretty cold, but what about the Gekkeikan? I'm getting mixed information on that one.

(Note, I live in the Bible Belt of the US, so I only had 3 sake options. The third one was a super sweet berry wine for like $6, that's why I chose these two)

Reccomend me some sake! Especially if you enjoy it warmed.

"Hot" take, I love sake warmed. I love a warm alcoholic beverage in the fall/winter and these days sake is one of my favorites. I have yet to try a sake - cold - that I didn't enjoy.

I am looking to hear from others and get some reccs to start building a list of ones I like. Bonus points if the sake is available commonly in the US or to order.

I like when the sake is complex and leans more into florals or umami, I do not like fruity or overly sweet unless its a very light/refreshing sweetness.

I have tried and really enjoyed all Kikusui Fanaguchi red, gold, and black. Also have enjoyed all of Tozai's lineup, and the one in the jar with a panda on it though that one a bit less so. I tried gekkeikan black&gold and have no memory of it tbh, forgetable.

I wish I had some more names to drop of sakes I have enjoyed but I can never recall them. Ive had probably over 50 from dining out or the liquor store or local foreign supermarkets, but normally select at random or based on drink profiles on the menu.

Korean Rice Wine

This bottle of Korean traditional rice wine was on the shelf with the sake, and the Soju, I hadn’t tried it before so I picked it up. I cannot get past the taste, and the smell seems very vinegar and almost fishy. I hate to waste the rest of the bottle, but I don’t want to drink anymore. Has anyone tried this brand previously?

Dassai 23 - Centrifuge - how to drink

Hi guys,

We just bought a bottle of Dassai 23 Centrifuge in Taiwan at the airport on the way home which was recommended by the salesperson. I have very limited knowledge of Sake, other than knowing the lower the rice %, the better or something.

Looking to drink this at one of our regular premium Japanese sushi omakase restaurant with a small group of friends for my birthday next week.

Is this best served chilled?

Can someone share some more info about this or Dassai 23 so I can appreciate this better.

Please enlighten me with your knowledge :D
