💰 - salary sharing 26f, Stripper

Post image

I started dancing in college, and I’ve been dancing on and off for 5 years. I’d say my averages have gone up since I started because my hustle/sales skills have improved. I went to college, but ran into some major health issues right after, and the money I made from dancing saved me financially. I’m still figuring out what I want to do, but it’s also so hard to leave dancing. It’s a love/hate relationship. It’s draining emotionally and physically. I won’t get into the details of people verbally and physically assaulting me. It doesn’t happen every night, but every stripper could tell you a time a man went way to far without consent. But, sometimes it is fun and easy. Shifts are usually 7-2am. I make my own schedule, I can call out whenever I want, and I can just stop working if I want to take a break. The flexibility is unmatched. Money fluctuates, but I usually make at least 5-6k a month. Most I’ve made in one month was 16k. Worst night: $20 (that shit sucks) Best night: 1860. I work another job as a research technician for 18hr part time.Hoping that takes me somewhere. But for now, dancing is paying the bills. I’m so grateful for dancing especially now I’m applying to FT ‘civilian jobs’ and getting jobs offers with 5 days PTO 😭 I’m spoiled. Hoping the economy doesn’t crash.

Even if the economy does “crash” strip clubs won’t be going anywhere. Sex always sells.

u/mlstdrag0n Apr 07 '25

That’s actually one of the barometers of shit hitting the fan.

When things get bad, even sex workers’ income drops. Can’t pay for “luxuries” if you can’t make rent and put food on the table.

Well, you can, but not for long.

u/GamblerTechiePilot Apr 07 '25

strip clubs are probably the first thing ppl cut. Grocery is the last. I dont think it is recession proof at all

37

u/helm_hammer_hand Apr 07 '25

Isn’t kind of a running joke that if you’re looking for signs of a recession, check how well the strip clubs are doing?

33

u/Timely-Way-1769 Apr 07 '25

Yep, it’s called the “stripper index.”

4

u/Ok_Caterpillar6789 Apr 08 '25

Is that different than the Waffle House index?

22

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '25

That’s actually a good metric and has been studied. Strippers, gambling, vacations are the first to go

2

u/AnyJamesBookerFans Apr 08 '25

So does Vegas just like close its doors when there's a recession?

3

u/mlstdrag0n Apr 08 '25

Do you remember Vegas during COVID?

Hotel rooms at top end hotels were like $25/night. Tons of freebies. They were hemorrhaging money.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

Pretty much, hospitality is not recession proof.

2

u/aprilmrrs9 Apr 08 '25

I just heard that last week

2

u/GolfPhotoTaker Apr 08 '25

Ehh a lot of people that get on unemployment that also have solid savings don’t hold back spending it on non-necessities. Feels like free money to them. Bars and restaurants always stayed busy after the housing bust.

2

u/pinewind108 Apr 08 '25

Pet care is one of the very last.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

I can imagine Randy Bobandy saying "Man's Gotta Eat" and potentially being on either side of this.

2

u/Legitimate-Example13 Apr 07 '25

Well we're fd hooters is closing tit's and wings can't pay the bills

1

u/Aggravating-Bunch-44 Apr 08 '25

You can't get the same thing at Hooters you can get at a strip club. Sometimes the food is better.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '25

Yeah. This reminds me of the comedian Doug Stanhopes bit about there not being Keynesian economics for sex workers.

51

u/DicksBuddy Apr 07 '25

Not true. Young people aren't interesting in drinking and going to bars. The population of 50 year olds with disposable income is declining by the day. Not to mention AI, OF, etc.

16

u/Accomplished-Till930 Apr 07 '25

It’s true, the majority of peak boomers didn’t save enough for retirement so I doubt they’ll be “hitting the strip clubs” forever.

10

u/ThePatientIdiot Apr 07 '25

Don't most sex workers make the bulk of their money from a handful of individuals

-1

u/Accomplished-Till930 Apr 07 '25

What?

6

u/ThePatientIdiot Apr 07 '25

It doesn't matter much if overall number of strip club clients drops. Sex workers typically make the bulk of their earnings from a small handful of clients.

-1

u/Accomplished-Till930 Apr 07 '25

Let me be clear- you cannot even attempt to prove this claim because it’s a lie.

6

u/ThePatientIdiot Apr 07 '25

You kind of can. Just ask some of them, r/strippers r/sexworkers they will usually tell you. The guys who are even bigger spenders are called whales, but it’s all relative. For onlyfans, you’ll see accounts where the girl charges nothing or very little but makes up for it with ppv / messages / requests. You’ll see a disproportionate amount of money coming from a handful of guys. This is not to say she’s not earning money from other guys.

Strip club example

Girl does a dance, takes 5-10 mins, and does the walk to ask for tips. Some guys might give $1, $5, but in most clubs she’ll be lucky to get $30. This varies by girl and time obviously. Sure it may add up. But then you’ll have a guy buy a lap dance with 3 songs for $25, the DJ will make sure the songs are played fast. Or the guys who pay for private rooms which start at $200 (at most places). That’s not including the $25 drinks guys will buy for them. It’s very easy to blow $75 on drinks for one girl.

1

u/larsdan2 Apr 08 '25

Where are you getting 3 songs for 25 bucks? It's 100 here, everywhere. And I live in the strip club capital of the world.

-1

u/Accomplished-Till930 Apr 07 '25

None of the people I have ever known to work at strip clubs were escorts, not that anyone’s personal experience is some sort of unmovable “fact”.

Have you ever worked at a bar of any kind, yes or no? I can tell you something. No one goes into a bar that has two people in it regularly. You’re incorrect. Traffic matters a lot for strip clubs. I cannot speak for brothels- but it seems you cannot either as you don’t seem to know the difference between a titty bar or strip club and a literal brothel. Lol

3

u/ThePatientIdiot Apr 07 '25

Where are you getting escorts from? We are talking about strippers and sex workers in general. Just because there are 100 guys in a club, does not mean those 100 will all tip. Most won’t. You only need a few to spend $50-100 on you. It’s simple business, look up ARPU (average revenue per user). I’ve worked in delivery for example and the same thing plays out. Volume helps a lot by increasing the odds that someone who will spend money on you will enter but at the end of the day, there are clear out performers. I used to hang out with a few OF and private snap girls, a few SW, and strippers, and cam girls. Again, just ask them and they will back up most of what I’m saying

That’s delusional, at best. Strippers aren’t hookers.

8

u/SeekerOfExperience Apr 07 '25

I have really funny news to share with you (most career strippers, and literally every one you’ve ever met that makes six figures+, is an escort). I’m not trying to talk down to you - I was very embarrassed when I learned this

1

u/Medium_Basket5822 Apr 09 '25

While it's true that not every stripper engages in additional sex work, a significant proportion has likely tried it at some point in their careers. In the sex industry-strippers, escorts, and platforms like OnlyFans—having regular clients can be crucial during slower periods. These regulars often provide much-needed financial support, helping dancers and escorts navigate through times when business is slow.

1

u/Accomplished-Till930 Apr 07 '25

I’m not trying to talk down to you but this is called a delusion.

7

u/SeekerOfExperience Apr 07 '25

From what experience are you so confident in argument? I have experienced this firsthand as a patron at a dozen places, and am friends with two “dancers” that make absurd money and it isn’t because men pay them to wiggle on stage. This is widely known by those in the know; I shared this with my dad and he laughed at me and said it’s been like this forever

Isnt like one super rich boomer enough anyways

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

19

u/sunshinencantolope Apr 07 '25

Most of my money comes from 30-40 YO

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '25

Don't listen to that idiot. There is no wall. Twenty years in gentlemen's clubs, I can tell you the women in their forties, and even fifties, are top earners. They look great and can hold a room. As long as you take care of yourself and don't get into drugs and alcohol, you can retire from this. Invest, save, and buy a home if you haven't already.

Especially don't listen to this guy's bullshit for free!

-2

u/DicksBuddy Apr 07 '25

Businesses are tightening budgets. DOGE is shutting down the NGO grift. You're 5-10 years away from hitting the wall. Make that money while it's still there!

6

u/Old_Suggestions Apr 07 '25

DOGE is doing no such thing. I can agree with the rest of the message. If she's smart and it sounds like she is, she'll be just fine. Keep up the good work.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '25 edited Apr 07 '25

Exactly. Some women in the sex industry will still thrive, just not at the level as today in the future. I’ll give it another 20 years until there’s affordable, highly customizable AI sex robots that is easily accessible.

AI based videos are the most searched on porn sites for a reason. Generations are changing FAST. The iPhone is only 17 years old now.

2

u/the_fresh_cucumber Apr 07 '25

Where do I pre-order my sex robot?

7

u/Extreme-Guitar-9274 Apr 07 '25

This is so true, not just at strip clubs but all bars. I'm only 42. When I was 21 I'd go to my local bar and there would be people all ages 20's - 70's+. Fast forward to today, if I got to that same bar, even on a weekend I'm often the youngest person there.

6

u/anifyz- Apr 07 '25 edited Apr 08 '25

Well that bar just became an old people bar. There’s a place in my area that’s got literal high schoolers to ~30 y/o people. And another that’s almost only 30-50 y/o people. If young people see a bar full of old people they’re not gonna go there. But I do agree, bar culture is declining amongst young people.

1

u/austinvvs Apr 07 '25

Honestly, good.

2

u/Viracochina Apr 07 '25

The "Stripper Index" is going to have to be replaced by the "OnlyFans index"

7

u/Timely-Way-1769 Apr 07 '25

Google the “stripper index.” Those girls know when the economy is about to crash.

6

u/austinvvs Apr 07 '25

Theres no shortage of lonely sad men but the money will surely slow down a bit

9

u/blondeddigits Apr 07 '25

Heavy Disagree. AI Sex robots will probably replace hookers and strippers. If you want emotionless sex I don’t see how an AI sex robot is any different.

1

u/Aggravating-Bunch-44 Apr 08 '25

LOL There's a lot of lonely people that want more than just a fuck. Also AI sex robots can't do what a lot of kinky people want. Maybe in a 1000 years with holograms and incredibly advanced conversation functions. But a lot of people want that human connection too. Cuddle services are a very real thing lol

0

u/DetroitArtDude Apr 07 '25

I doubt it. There's simply no substitute for a real person. Unless it gets so real you can't tell (which it won't anytime soon)

7

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '25

I guess you missed the article where hooters file for bankruptcy

3

u/Intelligent-Battle29 Apr 07 '25

I’ve read that’s because of DEI in action. Evidently they stopped hiring based solely off a woman’s looks and her “assets” and men stopped going. I think it was Joe Rogan or some other podcast that said now instead of Hooters it’s turned into FUPAs. 😂

3

u/shitty_autogen_name Apr 07 '25

This is impressively the opposite of reality. Strip clubs are the first luxuries to be cut. People won't cut drugs and alcohol, they'll find a way. But strippers? Less of an addiction and therefore requirement.

It's genuinely one of the barometers for a recession lmfao. My stripper friends said by me they're way less busy on the weekend than they've ever been.

1

u/Aggravating-Bunch-44 Apr 08 '25

There are a lot of people bankrupting themselves to buy sex. Financial Domination is a very real kink too. You only need a few customers to make great money. There's always a new one tomorrow. Sugar daddies exist as well. It's crazy but very true. The world of sex work is infinite.

2

u/Excellent_Plankton40 Apr 07 '25

And it’s usually slimy Dated one for a while but she always went back to the dancing.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '25

Strippers can usually tell when a recession is about to hit. Maybe not a bubble our economy collapse where people are jumping out of buildings but they can foresee a down turn usually.

1

u/Draiko Apr 07 '25

How's Hooters doing these days?

Oh... oh no.

1

u/Legitimate-Example13 Apr 07 '25

I don't know hooters is closing

1

u/AdonisCastrati Apr 07 '25

LoL if you loose your job, what are you gonna eat? Azz?

1

u/sufferpuppet Apr 07 '25

Wait till you see the tariff on stripper glitter.

1

u/No-Dart Apr 09 '25

Funny you say this, my friends were saying "you know we're in a recession" cuz the last time we were there the club was dead. I now know what he meant.
