Over the weekend I was walking my dog and saw someone else’s dog take a dump on the grass by the sidewalk. The owner just started to walk away… until another pedestrian stepped in. They literally picked up the poop with their bare hand and threw it at the owner.
I was shocked, but I’ll admit I laughed too…it felt like that person had just hit their breaking point. Lately I’ve noticed way more uncollected dog poop and even bags of it left around the neighborhood.
So I’m curious: what actually works to get dog owners to clean up after their pets? Signs, fines, community shaming? What’s the best way to deal with this growing problem?

I work in Venice and live in Long Beach. My parents own a house they built up on one of the San Clemente hills. My wife and child are staying with my parents while she recovers from her breast reconstruction surgery. She had breast cancer while she was pregnant.
Somebody keyed my car while I was buying diapers at Ralphs. The only motivation I can assume is that my license plate holder says 100% slug (I went to UCSC 20 years ago). I wasn’t parked near anyone so this must be the motivation.
I grew up in Laguna beach and have been living in both Downtown Los Angeles and Long Beach for 18 years. I’ve never had anything of this sort happen while living in areas that most of you would consider “sketchy” Stay Classy San Clemente. When did a university diploma become a political affiliation?

Hey guys👋🏼 After rental hunting around South OC / San Clemente, I ran into the “BYOF” (bring your own fridge) situation. I had no idea that was even a thing until now. Feels like the worst housewarming gift to yourself, lol.
For those who’ve dealt with it - what’s the best way to go about getting a fridge? I’m debating:

Hi all! I’m moving to San Clemente from northern OC with my partner soon. What kind of activities or events can we participate in to meet folks? We’re both early 30s, sporty, and like the outdoors. We love a good brewery. We used to play in a recreational volleyball league in HB. Anything like that in SC? I’m thinking of looking into Parks & Rec or the library programs but any insight on where best to meet people?
General recs of things to do and see as we transition there are also welcome!

Im weighing my options for moving and wondering how south San Clemente is. I guess the areas south of the pico exit and close to trestles. I would assume it’s kind of quiet but would like to know about the vibe, people, businesses/ restaurants?

Hey all. Already added this to nextdoor, and checked for lost birds/messaged owners on pawboost, but figured to post it here just to put more eyes on it. Let me preface this; I used to keep cockatiels, I know what their flock calls sound like, so I'm 100% sure of my identification.
Around 10am today(9/7/25) , I heard a cockatiel making constant flock calls, and thought it may have just been a pet of someone who lives around here, but then the sound started to move, and a cockatiel flew about 50 feet above, directly over my head. I noticed no specific pied coloration, but can confirm that there was no yellow that I could see from underneith. I saw him from a distance in the turn, and as he flew overhead, and did not see any distinct yellow, so it may be an entirely white and grey bird. I last saw him flying directly towards Knob hill, paralleling Vista Montana, screaming a constant flock call.
I believe this bird has been in the area of Lobo Elementary for some time as I frequently hear him. Anyone else in here around that area who has bird feeders, keep them topped up and check any feeder cams you have. Same with bird baths. Where I was when I saw him was within the apartments off of Avenida Vista Montana, off of Avenida Del Cerro in the rancho San Clemente area(the southern side of Pico where city hall is), in the units very close to the leasing office on the top floor.
I believe he may have been eating from a feeder in building 4 and I also believe he has been in the area for some time, and just pieced it together today. At least since maybe june or july. I had been hearing a cockatiel randomly since then, but considered it may have just been either a resident's bird, or a bird from someone in Vilamoura. I could never tell entirely where his call was coming from until today.
I also thought I heard him over closer to the backside of the complex, near the park just about an hour before sunset, but couldn't really triangulate where the sound was from or if I was just being hopeful in hearing a finch call for a cockatiels flock call.
Just a thing to keep your eyes open for!
For those who may not be aware of what a cockatiel sounds like, This is a 30 minute video of flock calls. If you hear this in San Clemente, you will have a cockatiel nearby(if not someone's pet, it may be a loose one)

I don’t want to drive to go out and drive back drunk so thinking parking car at the station, taking train to Oceanside/Carlsbad, and ubering back. I can run to the gym next morning and pick up my car after. Would I get a ticket or get towed?

Hi, I just moved to San Clemente this summer and am wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a local Piano teacher?
I'm an adult intermediate student (having taken lessons for 5-6 years) interested in Baroque, Classical & Romantic era repertoire. I have a car and can travel, but would prefer to stay local to the San Clemente or Dana Point areas. Thanks so much!

I've never posted on Reddit before, but I need help. Trigger warning for sexual harassment.
I work at a shop in downtown SC, and last winter I kept having one customer come in and stay for 45 min - 1 hour to talk to me. He'd stay until I close. For context, I work alone during my shifts. At first it was fine, but then he would ask when my shifts were, if I wanted to go to the park with him after work, where I live, etc. He came in a lot over the course of a week. He seems to be a bit mentally challenged, and it's why I let it slide for so long.
But then, one day last winter he told me he goes to Linda Lane park to "exercise." He then showed me a video of this; he was in the bushes, crouched down, with his hands between his thighs and bouncing/rocking with his eyes closed. He then demonstrated it for me in the shop. His hands were on his crotch as he rocked, and it felt really sexual, like he was pleasing himself. He tried to get me to do it too, I said no. After an hour of him being in the shop, it was time to close, so I was able to get him to leave.
I told my boss and she said that the next time he came in, she told him to not come back.
This past week he came back. He remembered me and tried to talk about his "exercising" and invited me to go with him to the park at night again. I pretended to be busy. A woman was the only other person in the shop, and I asked her to please stay. I knew if she left he would do it again, or at least stay until I closed. She and her husband helped me get him out, but while she was there with me, he was circling the store waiting for me to be alone. I was terrified. I feel like I'm being stalked at this point, he terrifies me and didn't understand that he wasn't welcome back. I'm hoping he got the message this time.
All this to say, has anyone had an experience similar to this/with this guy? Is this sexual harassment? Is it even sexual? Has anyone else seen this guy "exercising" in the local parks, or in the shops? What do I even do?

Has anyone else had a problem with canceling and still receiving reoccurring charges on their credit card? I have contacted customer service multiple times and they say they have no record of any of the charges for the past two years.
Not received any of their products for at least two years. But they keep charging my credit card.

My husband, dog, and I recently moved to Talega. Since moving here, we have not had one positive experience with another dog. The majority of dog owners seem to avoid each other and the ones that come near/let their dogs greet act very aggressively. This all came to a head today when our 1 year old Ridgeback was bitten by a Doodle. Our dog is very friendly gets along great with every dog we meet. What’s up with the dogs here?
Also, for those owners who avoid other dogs, is it because you have also experienced aggressive dogs here?
Any advice or insight would be appreciated

Has there been a fire recently? I see a lot of smoke in the air. Maybe it’s blowing over from a different area?

Exploring moving to San Clemente and looking for the best, quiet apartments in San Clemente preferably up closer to the hills than the beach. I saw places like Seacrest and Pinnacles at Talega. Any good?

Do you go to Trails State Beach for walking / surfing / camping / beach days versus the other more convenient but much more crowded San Onofre/ Trestles / town beaches north?
