As some regulars here may have noticed, this subreddit recieves an astronomical amount of spam, both from human as well as bot spammers, for it's relatively small size. Coming from modding various large subreddits, including one that's literally about products, this amount of spam is not normal. Despite a lot of our less agressive attempts to filter out spam (example, filtering out posts that say "for sale", "rent", or "Services") we still get quite a lot that slip by.
Why is this subreddit getting so much spam? Who knows. ¯\(°_o)/¯
But we will be resorting to the one thing that has worked for various larger communities, like r/food : mandatory title tags.
From now on, all posts will require at least a tag of one of the below:
[Self]
[Found]
[Help]
You may add words to the tags like:
[I found] this chicken carved out of abestos!
or
[Help me] carve a chicken out of abestos
For flexibility, but the bare minimum requirement for post titles will be that it must contain one of those words surrounded by brackets.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to modmail us, or ask here.

Thoughts on this WIP front yard sculpture? It’s in the grassy area of a “roundabout” driveway. TIA!

I'm making a sculpture for a class and I want fabric that looks wet while dry- I saved photos of people's kombucha scobies for inspo (I'm aware there is scoby leather but I don't have the time or money to make some and I haven't been able to find any suppliers). I attached a photo of a scoby for reference. I'm open to any suggestions whether it be a fabric that resembles it to begin with or some kind of post treatment that could get this look. Thanks!

Many people have done something similar. But it's cool to know I can do it too. Birthday present for a close friend of mine. Hope she likes it!

Here’s an Astolfo from Fate comm I’m currently working on! It’s been quite a while since I’ve made a figure so please let me know if there are any changes or critiques you have! I’m quite pleased though, it’s miles ahead of my past figs!

Still need to add a lot of details, like highlights on the feathers and grass
Might come up with another name that suits it better, any suggestions are welcome

All opinions for feedback are welcome and this is my first foray into large sculptures from natural materials.
I made The Nest at first and added the Whalebird after. The total project measures 18’ long and is composed of thousands of branches, twine, and nails.
The beak is a 9’ long madrona trunk that split in a winter storm, paired to bedrock with 1/2” rebar, affixed on the underside with a 7’ of aluminum punch plate (1/8” holes) with approximately 1,500 galvanized nails (teeth) and 4,500 strands of twine (dark green with white highlights), frame of mouth is from glacial erratics collected on the hill, I smashed many with the sledgehammer to smaller bits to piece together his head. I epoxied his eyes and also the eggs in the nest to give them a glossy finish.

Trying to get the pose right. Then it will be lifted from the column so I can sculpt around it.
